    A battery is like a water tank , you can take out only what you put in . If water supply is limited ( like the alternator's electrical capacity ) , and you are using up all that comes , a larger tank won't help any , because you'll have no water to store into it . Further , in case of battery , it must be kept full or nearly so all the time for it to last it's expected normal service life . In case of a sealed battery , deep discharging it even once shall adversely affect it's service life permanently . Fully charged battery is the only happy battery .

        Hey friends at last changed from semi synthetic to pure synthetic oil ..got my bike filled with MOTUL 7100 pure blood...riding has changed a lot very smooth i can feel the change

            Parking and pilot lamps are one and the same. They consume low power in comparison with the headlamps. In certain countries it is mandatory by law to leave the light switched on when parked on road sides or when ever it is demanded though a sign post. This is to provide better visibility of the parked car for other users. Since it has to be left switched on for prolonged hours, the toll on the battery should be minimal so that it has enough charge to crank the engine. Hence pilot a.k.a parking lamps are of low wattage.

            DRL as the name says is a day time running lamps, which are left always on when the vehicle is moving. Again this is mandatory by law in some scandinavian countries (Volvo's always have the headlight switched on during running and does not have have switch to off - this might have changed now with DRLs) to improve the visibility. DRLs are recent additions and are typically white colour LED based and parking/pilot lamps are of incandescent type (heated filament) type.

              So those white LED Strips in High End cars like AUDI's are DRL's. Then what we call those we Have in our NS (Mini incandescent bulbs with 3W rating)

The problem for me is the white light 3900K color which looks washed away with other color sources on road. On a perfect dark, it seems good. I my case I didn't paint anything on the reflector, that's the only difference. Don't know should I still need a new replacement unit. How do you feel the difference from HID to stock?

                Thanks for your inputs. I did make this mistake planned, as it was LED projector and hence it didn't trouble in power department. As I expected the projector could lit in low beam mode for hours (i expect) as it just required 8W from a 96Wh battery. On papers, it could light for more than 10 hours, however never tried it. All I used was like 45 minutes without ignition. It never harmed my electricals, not even on heavy rainy days. But the actual problem is with throw. This projector throw is around just 12-15 feet, what a joke. At first didn't realize much. That's not even enough to see when riding at 30 kph.

                Also another joke with most HIDs are low/high beam mode. HIDs don't have such setup, if so they are very costlier, otherwise HID (high) + Halogen(low). Mine only switches power from 8W to 18W when I press low/high beam switch. Well, initially I didn't bother, but when doing long runs I keep getting trouble. Now that I understand why 2700K is better used with all cars and bikes apart from cost cutting.

                I lost 2600/- simply on fitting this and now summing up with another replacement cost of 1600/- = 4200/- has been thrown for nothing

                Thanks for the suggestion. I'd rather stay with stock(Halogen, not HID). Do you know any H4 halogen bulb with same 2700-2900K color?. I checked the philips weather vision, but that is not available online. Similar to that?, slightly better than stock would be great. Not those extreme vision which produces whitish color around 3700-4000K.

                As far as RPM needle shaking is concerned, I always thought that could be due to the tacho sensor malfunctioning or maybe fluctuating. But it turns out to be the assembly itself.

                Thats pilot lamp. Generally we call it that way. I wondered if your NS came with DRL

                Anyway newer bikes (all those CKD route) have headlights turned on as default and you can't turn it off. I somehow don't like it...anyway..

                  I've seen Philips WV in Amazon and ebay. Not sure if its still available though. Philips website is not being updated regularly. They even list products that are no longer in the market. I learnt this from my recent email conversation with Philips regarding their motorcycle bulb line up.

                  What is the actual reason for having DRLs in India? In Scandinavia and other countries in Europe; and Canada, when day light during winter is low, it makes sense. DRLs helps in identifying vehicles in low light conditions; DRLs automatically turn on when the vehicle moves forward. I think, in India, its more for style and appeal.

                    Thanks bro. I checked websites and they don't have it. All are only extreme vision about 4000K color which I don't need. Checked nearby shops and they stock the same. If nothing that I can procure in this time, I'd stay with stock.

                    Thanks for clarifying the DRL facts. I didn't recognize the weather was the reason for using headlights default on with CKD bikes. DRL LED strip is fine, but headlight didn't seem to please eyes. In India, at least most parts of India sure we won't be needing it.

There is a high level of fear among most Brits that motorcycle is a killing machine. The one of the main reason for people to believe so is the statistics. While the accidents deaths for car drivers are minimized in many ways like mandatory MOT certificate per year, the accident deaths for motorcyclists still scare them a lot. By law a motorcyclist needs to wear helmet only. But people give importance to safety (because health care is expensive, accident rates are high, speeds are high, weather is not so helping and so on and on), they see as you riding with helmet alone as if you are riding naked.

                      During every safety class and in awareness raising hoarding scream one point - Watch for motorcycles. This is because a motorcycle is less visible than a car and just for that the measures that they take are extraordinary. Few such measures are: Wearing a high visibility jacket; wearing a white or bright colour helmet; leaving the headlights on; approaching a junction not just on a dead straight line but to induce small but safe wavy approach - so as to attract the attention of the car or tractor that is waiting ahead does not pull on to you.

                      Most of the accidents occur when a car or tractor that is waiting in a T junction to pull in motorcyclist line. The reply (Sorry mate! I didnt see you coming.) that the car drive give as even become a cliche statement.

                      These are the hoardings that I am talking about:

                            Suggest me a best alternative to stock bulbs...require for better night vision both in city and highways...pls provide link if possible.. Are the philips xtreme vision plus a good option. Or should I go for some thing else ..i don't want white or blueish light throw..

                              I'm on the same boat. I think the next best move will be 90/100W bulb with proper electrical setup rather than buying extreme or weather vision models. Either they produce whitish or blue tint which I don't like it either. I'm struck for now.

                                Philips extreme vision or Osram Night breaker are good, but its only a slight upgrade from the stock and in a few months only, you would be looking for something else just like me.

                                Now you have two options, either go for a projector and HID setup (don't opt for any chinese HID though) or go for a good quality (Hella/Bosch/Philips/Osram) 100/90W bulb with a Nylon66 based or Ceramic based holder with heavy finolex grade wires and a Headlight relay (All these can be bought from any car accessories shop).

                                A 100/90W bulb is a good improvement over stock with yellow light to penetrate through fog.
