Today i took my bike to the local mechanic for the issue which i had posted about the pickup just vanishing subsequent to me changing the clutch plates and the chain sprocket.

All he did was open the carb, check the diaphragm which was perfect and then reassemble everything back. Voila ! It seemed to work...

But i am still wondering what the issue could have been.

Nevertheless.. The Red Devil is back !!

        Hi Guys,
I will be turning 18 in couple of months. I have never used a gear bike before. Only used scooters like Activa,Dio,etc. I am considering buying a bike in couple of months.
I know that pulsar 200ns is discontinued. But just hoping that bajaj relaunches it with Fi.
So I wanted to ask that, will this bike be good for me, as I am a beginner. Never ridden geared bike. Will I be able to manage the weight of the bike?
I am 5'8" weighing around 73-75kg and well built.

If you are new to bikes start with a 150/160 bike to learn then move to a more powered bike...
200ns i feel is little more powered for beginners to handle

That's true but I don't like any of the 150cc bike. They don't appeal me.
I am more concerned over its weight. Will I be able to manage it as a beginner. I am even considering duke 200

The only 150cc bike I prefer would be r15.

Asking for a beginners motorcycle and going for a faired one.

I'm 5'6" and was 52kg when I was 18. I started with a Yezdi Roadking. You see, it's not your body, it's the mind that matters. At 18 you have a lot of hot blood running through you. If you're sure that you're not going to do any stupid stuff once you get power into your hands, well, go for anything you like. Cheers.

I am no way going to cross 80. And I don't have any source to learn geared. So was thinking to buy new one instead of used.

Hey bro... Was facing a dead pickup at lower end rpms. The crispiness of the throttle was dead, Top end limited to about 7.5 k rpm thereby limiting top speed to about 105 - 110.

Somehow still feel strange that just resetting the carb just set everything right. Next step - work on the vibes but I am so glad to have my devil back.

Believe NS is a tad heavier than Duke. There are rumors that Bajaj will launch NS FI but no confirmed news. There are ample used NSs in the market. You may want to chk out.

I don't see any issues in you buying a 200cc directly but do hold ur horses. NS comes with great acceleration and top end speed. And also great and crisp braking to an extent that the tyres slip some times. So whether its speed or braking hard you will need to be very very careful as a beginner. Don't even think of open throttling or speeding, cause with no experience of geared bikes you may end up harming urself.

Note: I have ridden most of the bikes till 300cc in my 12+ years of riding. Met with a few accidents came out with minimal damage (cheers to luck). But I happened to ride an inline4 1200cc for around 20kms and guess what. All that experience was of no use. High powered Bikes are monsters and require great skill and experience to handle. I had to constantly monitor the accelerator and braking as it was no where similar to handling a 300ccer. A minute increase in the accelerator and the bike was already touching 100kmph. I felt the brakes weren't enough to handle that power and one single smallest mistake could have been life threatening.

So please be very careful, if you choose a 200ccer as ur first bike. Be gentle and enjoy the power rather than exploiting it for fun..
Pace your Ride the way to you want to Pace your Life. Both can be dangerous if taken too fast - all the time...!
