Yep,I also think revz is a bad idea, you need some thing with more grip, like the ones that are used in real dual purpose bikes. Is something like that available in India?Originally posted by ysingh View Postdidn't know thaty MRF revz-s are "dual purpose" tyres.....!!! And I don't think suggesting a softer compound tyre to be used in rural area is good advice."Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

Sorry to hear that Bud. Hope you are doing good. I myself had an incident when I had been to BR Hills. On the way up, a bus came hurtling down out of nowhere. I couldn't see it coming as well as I was approaching a small hill and the bus was on it's way down. There wasn't enough room left on the road as well. I jammed the rear bakes and the bike fish tailed a little. Luckily I was able to squeeze my bike through in whatever space that I could find. I would have been a absolute goner had it not been for NS's handling prowess.Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostNewbie riders (any bike for that matter), you may find this useful.
This afternoon, I had been to the BR Hills (solo), about 100 km from Mysore. Oh yeah it was an awesome experience overall. Awesome until I had my FIRST EVER fall. Uphill journey went smoothly but while coming down I thought why not save petrol, it's a steep slope and I can manage 20 kms downhill with the engine turned off. So rolled down the hill in neutral and engine off. I know it's a wrong practice to do so. The bike picked up good speed (80 km/h) and suddenly, a 90deg curve out of nowhere. Tried applying the brakes and I was like "why the f*** isn't the bike slowing down?!!" To top it up, a monkey stood like a king on the road. I jammed on the rear brakes, skidded hard, got away from the poor thing but I was too fast to pass the curve. What happened then? Went offroad, bumped on huge stones, fell off and the bike toppled. For a split second, my precious NS was in the air! Badly shaken and not heeding to my bruises, saw to my utter disappointment that the front indicator, left metal guard and both RVM's had popped out and the headlight was totally scratched. Minor scratches on the tank and rear end.
What I want to say is, though the outcome was totally small, it could have gotten much worse considering the speed I was in. All thanks to that awesome perimeter frame, I was saved to this extent atleast. The only flaw was my riding style. The valuable lesson I learnt today was doesnt matter how many kilometers I can manage with the engine turned off. I shall make it a point to ALWAYS keep the bike in gear while riding. If the engine was on, I would have easily stopped the bike to standstill maybe! Yeah the fall was an awesome experience. I'm happy it happened.

Hey guys, update after my second service coming soon.. Just a query: I have more or less decided on changing my pilot lamps to white LEDs using the DIY method posted earlier on (thanks for that btw!). As I would be using them during the day as well, in order to avoid straining the battery any more than necessary, is there a way to ensure that only the pilot lamps come on when you slide the headlight switch into the first position (instead of having the console lcd, switchgear and tail lights all light up at the same time; which is more or less useless in the day). However, if this involves messing with the bike to such an extent that it voids the warranty, I'd avoid it!
Lemme know if theres a way.
Cheers!

Hi AFAIK, there is no way to achieve this without voiding the warranty.Originally posted by Jason Gokavi View PostHey guys, update after my second service coming soon.. Hey
I had an accident a while ago and got the bike repaired with insurance
Most of the parts replaced was metal. I paid 16065/- for the repair and I received 8410/- from the insurance. Most expensive parts were fork assembly, front tyre and head lamp.
Plastic parts were at most 3500/- as far as I can infer from the bill. I can list the entire bill if someone wants a clearer view. Is that a fair amount that insurance covered?

other members will be able to comment about the insurance...
i guess you should have got much more from the insurance but i have thankfully never been in an accident(touchwood!) so i dont know much
how did u get into an accident? your fault or someone hit you?
if someone did hit you get all the repair money from that person
sure post the bill and it will help other members...Pulsar 200NS parts list

My fault entirely. I was trying to max out the bike amidst mild traffic(145kmph speedo indicated at that time). I crashed into the rear of an auto after a hard panic breaking which fled I dont know for what reason?!Originally posted by mayank.travadi View PostOUCH!

Yes, I'll post the bill soon if it'd be helpful for other members.
Thanks for the reply. I called my surveyor and told him that I received a very low amount which is almost 50% of the bill considering that bike was only 3 months old and most of the replaced part was metal.Originally posted by Vineet_200 View Postthe amount paid is too less IMO ,there was a small incident with our car sometime back the total repair amount was around 17k , the insurance company paid 13k .
He said to message him the vehicle no: and he'll look into it. I'll call him tomorrow to see what I have to do further.

Always wanted my bike to have these

Lack of a centre stand was a pain when I started to do it on the left side
...but did it anyway...
Also , my earlier post regarding the vibration of the black coloured components on the tank got resolved on its own somehow...also the tyres perform really nice after the run-in...Last edited by nishant.sukharia; 12-06-2012, 07:38 PM.

Thats cool! Coincidentally I too did that yesterday, but since my NS is yellow I did it with Yellow oil paint (because it would have more life than fabric paint).Originally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostDid some inscription work on the legs of my babe....

You got that right! I'm happy I learnt something (even though it was the hard way). Yeah I will upload the pics. What happened was after I fell and managed to get the vehicle back on 2 wheels, wanted to click pics. But the battery let me down. Will upload pics of the entire ride and the scratches on the bike taken later that evening.Originally posted by J K View PostYou are happy because you learned a new thing..!!!

Just as @rahulbarik said, maybe your bike is running too rich. Besides, there is no oil found in the pic! Yeah it's too low. That possibly explains the harshness. Everytime you change the oil, fill in 1.2 liters of it. 1.4 while overhauling. Check the manual.Originally posted by ysingh View PostGot my second service done @ 5974 kms 10 days ago.
Problems....
1. The engine has become rough
2. Crank noise started after crossing 6000 kms
3. Gear shift quality VERY bad. They change with a loud thudding noise.
4. Top speed is now only 127 in 6th gear.
5. FE before the service was 37-38... it is now 28.5-29 ONLY (tank full to tank full)
I have a center stand fitted to the bike. Just out of curiosity I checked the Oil level in the bike (it was parked for more than 2 hours, on level ground)
Please see the attached pic..... Is the bike bike running in low oil or very little oil... There seems to be very little oil? I have ridden 1100 kms only and the oil + filter was changed at the service.
Buses ply up and down BR hills?! There's road just perfect for a car to drive through that's it! I'm surprised! Glad you got away without a scratch!Originally posted by surajr.88 View PostSorry to hear that Bud. Hope you are doing good. I myself had an incident when I had been to BR Hills. Yep, the bike looks sexy, especially with the decals! Couldn't help noticing but isn't that just normal acrylic paint kids use to learn painting? I mean, if the tyres go seriously wet, wouldn't that colour just 'go away'? Should have tried whitener or wall paint! :POriginally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostDid some inscription work on the legs of my babe....
@all, my ride had her worst experience last noon, I thought "my ride is screwed up". But this morning, started the cold engine, the bike happily came to life and after the engine was heated up, revved a little and wow! She just zoomed away! The bike felt so lazy in the mornings before! I felt "this is so dukish!" I was expecting some new vibes but none! One more thing I noticed was the sound of the vehicle had changed from a soft purr to a confident roar, but not stressed or harsh. Guess the continuous beating and pounding for 200 kms really helped the engine to open up. I didn't mind the shabby scratchy looks of the bike coz I had a big grin on my face!
Nevertheless, got the 2nd service done at 3731 kms on odo.
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.
