    • It is assumed that Nitrogen increases tyre life. It reduces the operating temperature during times of load and speed and thus, enhances the life of a tyre.
    • It is believed that nitrogen keeps tyre pressures more constant. The gas is assumed to provide more stable pressure range in connection to the tyre temperature. However, again, the factor is applicable in times of heavy load/high-speed conditions.
    • Tyres are susceptible to loss of pressure as a result of being porous in nature. Due to its chemical structure, Nitrogen leak out slowly as compared to compressed air. Therefore, it slows the rate of pressure loss.
    • Oxygen reacts with the tyre and rim materials causing oxidation or the rust formation in the metal parts. Nitrogen, being an inert gas, does not react with the tyre and rim materials."

    This is what people say.
IMO It doesn't make much of a difference as normal air consists of more than 75% nitrogen. Did it just coz I found a specialist shop and my tyre pressure was low. Cost 40 INR

Thanx a lot for the share my friend as I know it better now.

Guys, the engine stall problem is solved. I found that it was not the cold start issue. It was the idling RPM issue actually. The idling RPM was set to 1K by Service Center Guys during the first service. I set it to 1.5K and the issue is gone now.
A new problem I'm facing right now is with the brake pedal. In the riding posture it is not comfortable to keep the foot on both the foot-peg and brake pedal. Can it be adjusted? I want it somewhat lower and slanted (Just like we keep our foot below gear lever). I know there can be some adjustment in the brake pedal itself but it will stretch the spring attached to it and hence the brake light (rear light) will always be in ON position. Anyone know anything about it?

    • hello friends this is my first post here. I almost completed 1500kms on my odo in my NS yellow. Also went for a touring of 250kms in a day. its was a awesome ride experience in this beast. now i am thinking of doing some mods. I wanted to know where can i get the Pilot lamps replaced with a good pair of LED's. Also i am thinking to install a dual horn like Roots Windtone. Is it ok to do those modifications within the guarantee period. Also can i replace the air in the tyre with nitrogen. Are there any specification to do so.

Yes, you can change pilots to led, search the thread, you will find a D.I.Y thread with pics and procedure.

Yes, you can install wind tones or the 220 dual horns without voiding the warranty(not guarantee). Just be careful not to modify the wirings on the bike a good mechanic will do it for you. Same case , a few members here have done this mod too.

Yes, you can get the tires filled with nitrogen, though for our commutes the gain is minimal and mostly psychological. The pressure won't drop too quickly.

Had the same problem.. I have since started using a slanted position for the foot which helps somewhat but eventually am gonna add some material on top of the foot rest so that the toes rest a bit lightly on the pedal itself.. No other solution I think.

            • My spill at 0 RPM and 80 km/h

Newbie riders (any bike for that matter), you may find this useful.

This afternoon, I had been to the BR Hills (solo), about 100 km from Mysore. Oh yeah it was an awesome experience overall. Awesome until I had my FIRST EVER fall. Uphill journey went smoothly but while coming down I thought why not save petrol, it's a steep slope and I can manage 20 kms downhill with the engine turned off. So rolled down the hill in neutral and engine off. I know it's a wrong practice to do so. The bike picked up good speed (80 km/h) and suddenly, a 90deg curve out of nowhere. Tried applying the brakes and I was like "why the f*** isn't the bike slowing down?!!" To top it up, a monkey stood like a king on the road. I jammed on the rear brakes, skidded hard, got away from the poor thing but I was too fast to pass the curve. What happened then? Went offroad, bumped on huge stones, fell off and the bike toppled. For a split second, my precious NS was in the air! Badly shaken and not heeding to my bruises, saw to my utter disappointment that the front indicator, left metal guard and both RVM's had popped out and the headlight was totally scratched. Minor scratches on the tank and rear end.

What I want to say is, though the outcome was totally small, it could have gotten much worse considering the speed I was in. All thanks to that awesome perimeter frame, I was saved to this extent atleast. The only flaw was my riding style. The valuable lesson I learnt today was doesnt matter how many kilometers I can manage with the engine turned off. I shall make it a point to ALWAYS keep the bike in gear while riding. If the engine was on, I would have easily stopped the bike to standstill maybe! Yeah the fall was an awesome experience. I'm happy it happened.

              Pics coming soon

Ask for 220's horn. Two of them. It will cost you about 350. You can get it from Bajaj spare shop.

I thought I had maxed the bike out but later while coming back the bike did 132(10kRpm) in the 5th gear, only then I realized that I forgot that there was a 6th gear totally(must have forgotten while riding intense). of the year moment for me :|

Tank vibes exists at some rpm ranges even above 6, need to get that checked.
148 Ks @ 6th gear. You need to tuck real low with chin on tank to see this speed.

Should go pretty easy on your wallet too. Only problem is, any softer compound tyre is more puncture prone and will wear out comparatively faster. Coming back to the stock tyres, once they've run a few thousand kilometers, they provide a better grip. So keeping these factors in your mind, make your pick. And do take suggestions from a few more people.

didn't know thaty MRF revz-s are "dual purpose" tyres.....!!! And I don't think suggesting a softer compound tyre to be used in rural area is good advice.

                    • Got my second service done @ 5974 kms 10 days ago.

                      Problems....

                      1. The engine has become rough
                      2. Crank noise started after crossing 6000 kms
                      3. Gear shift quality VERY bad. They change with a loud thudding noise.
                      4. Top speed is now only 127 in 6th gear.
                      5. FE before the service was 37-38... it is now 28.5-29 ONLY (tank full to tank full)

I have a center stand fitted to the bike. Just out of curiosity I checked the Oil level in the bike (it was parked for more than 2 hours, on level ground)

Please see the attached pic..... Is the bike bike running in low oil or very little oil... There seems to be very little oil? I have ridden 1100 kms only and the oil + filter was changed at the service.

PS: Where can I get Motul 5100 in Delhi?

                          • The oil level seems to be low, do you know how much they filled ? Leakeage of oil is hard to miss and since you haven't mentioned that i'm assuming it's not there.

Drain the oil and put new one, 1.2l i think is the required amount. Get the filter changed too. The oil is too dark from what i can see.

i hope u are not checking oil level on main stand.

it doesnt show correct oil level on main stand

the bike must be on both wheels and vertical to the ground.

i too thought i had low oil but then when i check without stand it was sufficient

The mechanic I went to just opened up the side panels and the tank, located some bolt near the engine, tightened it and then my ride sounded so so good, again just like you said - the silent awesome humm. Before the treatment, I was so damn sure it was engine sound but it turned out it wasn't. Merely resonance. I might be wrong about your bike for I haven't heard it, trying to help that's all
hmm might be... i have recently started feeling a bit of vibrations and dhak shak loose panel sounds too... got to take out some time and go to the svc... not getting time at all....

Anyone know anything about it?
there is a nut below the brake pedal with a long screw (silver color)...locate that nut and adjust the pedal to your liking.. then to adjust the brake light, locate another nut (black color) which is just behind the rear brake lever ans adjust it to get the desired brake light settings... hope this helps...

you are running a very very rich mixture... thats the reason you are getting that low top speed... i run a bit rich and my top speed is 131 in 6th gear with full upright posture... but when i was running lean i was getting 135 in 6th... make it a bit leaner but not much else you will get vibrationc and a rough engine... happpy riding
