Currently on 19782kms. Bike is still peppy. Changed brake pads. Gear shift problems have arose once again (first time it was in the beginning) and its constantly misgearing. Last oil change was 4500kms back to Motul 7100. Sprockets will live for another 1000kms, would change it before I get off on saddle sore. Planning to keep the bike at home and use car till I get out for the SS. Feels problematic while cornering (yes, had gone to Lavasa for the first time in a long time and first time on the NS). The bike wobbled once. Tire pressure ratio 25 : 28....Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....

How many days old is the bike? Not many I suppose!Originally posted by utsavchs View PostCurrently on 19782kms. Bike is still peppy. Changed brake pads. Anyway, misgearing? Like getting stuck between gears?
And advance wishes for the saddlesore!!
@all, which SS/FS oil should I use if I want really good acceleration?Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Persoanlly I would prefer a little more air in the rear tyre. something around 30-32. Are your tyres the original ones which came with the bike?Originally posted by utsavchs View PostCurrently on 19782kms. Bike is still peppy. Changed brake pads. Yes, thats the issue.
Use any of Motul 3100, 5100, 7100, 300v for a good performance.
@Horror: Yes, they are the same stock Eurogrip I am using.....Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....

Great going.Any plans for bigger sprockets?Or satisfied with current low end grunt?Best of luck for SS.Get all problems rectified before it.Being the guy who has the biggest odo can you post your average mileage?Whats your CO%?Originally posted by utsavchs View PostCurrently on 19782kms. FS is better for performance as far I know.Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View Post

I suppose that the oil should last upto 4k-5k kms before you need to change it.Originally posted by vivek.m View PostOkay need some help guys.
1. I am currently 1050 on the ODO and I changed oil during first service (550kms). The SVC suggested Motul 3100 and I went with it. The question is should I be changing it now or should I run through the oil life (I am asking because I read somewhere that changing oil after 1000kms is a good choice).
2. I am feeling my NS is little less on power in lower rpm's (2k-3k). It is normal at anything above 3k. Is this common or am I doing anything wrong? I normal ride at 50kmph and a few short bursts of 70-80kmph.
And yes, the power in the low RPM band is limited...you have to rev it up for more power. One needs to change the gears a LOT especially in city riding in order to keep up with the pace...
Rich AFR update : (200+ kms with a richer AFR )
Although I have said that the vibrations went away completely with a richer AFR...after riding my NS after a gap or 17 days, as I went to Pune to my parents'...now I feel that only & only the black coloured components on the sides of the tank are vibrating...the tank ( the coloured portion ) is rock steady though...which is very weird cuz both seems to be seamlessly same piece with basically just different colours...
Also, there seems to be no change in the fuel efficiency whatsoever.
Also I'd like to know whether NGK iridium spark plugs may provide a better punch at low RPMS or not ?

Thanks
I want to keep the bike as much stock as possible. Don't want to change the sprockets as they are enough and keeps me satisfied. Changed the spark plugs though after one went kaput! Put NGK plugs on all 3.
Problems, yes. I am unable to rectify this issue. Gear shifts are seemingly problematic due to too much mis-shifts. Neutral does not happen in one go. Gets stuck often between 3rd and 4th gear and 5th and sixth gears (Stuck means, it goes into neutralish
bike doesn't have the effect even is accelerating). Engine oil seems good enough to take on 2-3k kms more of abuse.
I am getting around 40 kmpl these days and sometimes more. I ride 99% of the time on highways only and at 75~90kmph speeds 50% of the time and rest I rip it above 120. CO% is around 3+.
At 6th gear, it feels the bike is knocking at 6k RPM till 7k RPM. Beyond which I dint check as of yet. I think it might be a problem due to the gone sprocket and chain. Experts, please guide me. Emergency here! Have very limited time left for the SS. Cant go in for SS with this situation. Need this fixed sooner!....Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....

advise for horn
Guys,Need to.change the stock horns. It feels like a 100 cc bike horn.Any good advise? Hella, minda or roots?Don't want the roots windtone. It's more like a car horn. I want one like pulsar 150 or 180.Riding a bike is an art - A thing that you do because you feel something inside...!!

Bulging tyre
On my way back home, i felt the bike wobble at a few corners.. Once parked, i check the rear tyre for wobble when i noticed 2 bulges
Called up svc center and they said the tyre is under warranty, but only an authorised vendor will replace it.
Update: Just got the details from the service centre
- I have to show the tyre to a TVS representative
- He will give a report on whether the problem is due to manufacturing defect
- "If" it is a manufacturing defect i will get a new tyre
All this jhol when i have an exam on thursday, for which i have to travel quite a bit
I get reference of the TVS representative, but he sits all the way across the city.
To make things worse, he tells me the dealer will ONLY REPLACE THE TYRE ON FRIDAY OR MONDAY!!
So finally i give up and agree to meet him at the dealer on this friday, by taking a day off from office.
Bike is 4 months / 7000 km old and this is the third major F up with the bike
1. Accelerator cable stuck wide open, bike idling at 8k rpm
2. Fuel line pinched shut between fuel tank and mounting
3. Tyre bulge
I do a daily run of 20km on highway at 90+kmph and 20km on city roads.
Should i be sad that the tyre is screwed or be happy that it didn't burst at 100+kmph?
I sense murphy laughing at me for all the times i have defended the stock eurogrips against critisimLast edited by Red_Redemption; 12-04-2012, 06:39 PM.We are so busy watching out for what\'s just ahead of us, that we don\'t take time to enjoy where we are ~ Bill Watterson

U mean to say there can be a problem with the disk plate or disk pads????Originally posted by surampudijagadeesh View PostIf the front disc noise is intermittent ie. squeaking like an old fan, it might be the symptom of a warped disc. Go to the asc, get the job card written as front disc plate checkup, and disc pad checkup.
If not rectified, the problem would be the bike becoming shaky at the time of braking, which is dangerous.
Also one of the symptoms I have experienced is nor the sound or the shaking while braking is present when the disc is cold or the bike is just taken out, but starts when it has run for few km and when the disc warms up during riding.
If the problem is not rectified, shoot a mail regarding the same to bajaj.
The noise is increasing now and i cannot go to ASC as my exams are there.
Going to shoot mail to BAL.
