  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS

    Hello everyone.

Went for my first service on Sunday at 1164 kms on odo and would like to share my experience with you all.
Reached svc (Raigad Bajaj, Panvel, Navi Mumbai) at 10.15 am. Service Assistant took my bike and prepared a job card and noted down all the issues I told him. Then bike went first for washing. I am allowed to enter service bay. That was a good thing. I am able to see how mechanic was doin service and all. No issue there. But as there were 2 NSs waiting for getting serviced and there was only one mechanic who was trained for NS. (Should have gone there somewhat early) Got my number at around 3 pm. He did all usual stuffs like oil replacement, filter replacement, coolent top up, chain cleaning and lubing etc.. Asked technician that is battery not required to put for charging? He said that not required as battery is of different type.. Want to know that is it true what he was saying? Battery is not required to charge during first service? Fitted center stand. Then I told him to rectify some of the issues which I am facing like bike swaying towards left, heavy vibration on tank, vibrating keychain sound from front etc. Had also enquired about those rubber grumets bt they are not aware of them. Went to store manager and showed him the picture posted in this forum and also told him part number which was shown in that picture but he said that Bajaj havent sent them anything. Has anyone got rubber grumets at any svc?
For tank vibrations technician just tighten bolts on tanks. For vibrating keychain noise, he opened fearing, had put some packings and tighten all the bolts. But none of my issue got resolved. Went for test ride with technician and vibration were still there and noise from fearing also. He again did some bolt tight and again went for test ride but both issues were there. So in end he had given up saying that "Itna vibration and noise to rahega hi.". Then told him to solve issue of bike swaying left. He opened the big nut (the one on axis around which the stearing rotates) and done some tightness of a ring below it(no idea what it is called exactly) and checked the free play of stearing. He did this 2-3 times taking testride everytime. Finaly he told that swaying towards left issue has been solved. I went for test ride but unfortunately Service assistance was also seat besides me and dont know how he managed to keep bike in balance that bike was running straight after I took off my hands from handle bar. He fooled me bcoz later on I found out issue is still present. Got tuned my bike bt adjusting afr to keep CO level at 1.8%. It was beyond 4% before tuning. Was I running reach? But now I have to keep my idle somewhat higher otherwise engine dies during cold start if I keep accelerater very low. Got my bike back by 5 pm. Spent whole day there. After service bike is smooth now to some extent but gear shifting has still issue. Will go to another svc next Sunday to enquire about tank rubber grumet and vibration issue to get fixed.

Hello Chintan. Firstly, congrats on your NS and crossing the 1000kms mark. Here are the answers to your questions in bold.

Recharging of battery is not required at first servicing. Infact, till now (my NS is nearing 20k mark) my bike's battery has not been put to charging and yet works as good as new.

I fitted my NS with the rubber paddings that I bought from a hardware shop for 30rs. They are fitted now on nearly each and every nut and bolt I could see after opening the bike. Still have some left :P . The bike now does not vibrate. I run in rich mixture. CO 3%

All NS has a tendency to sway to the left. Happens with most of the NS, well mine one doesn't or sways so slightly that I failed to notice.

High CO levels = Running rich mix, Results : Better low and mid ends, better output on 3.5k rpm ~ 8.5k RPM, Low top end, No problems in cold starts.
Low CO levels = Running lean mix, Results : Better upper mid and top end, better output on 5.5k ~10.5k RPM, High top end, Problems in cold starts.

The way u run ur bike, does it require any charging???

BTW, u run at 3% and still getting 50+ kmpl. right??
in dat case, i think @Rahul is bang on, that the mileage actually depends upon how well the bike is tuned.

              Welcome to the forum!

Upsizing the tyres for P200NS is not recommended.
It will have adverse effects on the handling of the bike.

For better grip you can go for Mrf Rev-z or Pirelli Sports Demon of the same size as stock.

By the way, the stock tyres aren't that bad for regular use.

              • hey rishab ,thanks for reply still could u elaborate the adverse effects cause as per my knnowledge fuel ecconomy will take a dip but with low profile tyres u get greater grip on both straight lines and corners....
and if anyone has changed the number plate holder,,...

                  • I opened the front visor plastic, stuffed a couple of sponges inside, and voila no more console vibrations
Who ever gave this idea, thanks to him!

The effects can be as follows:
                      1. As you already know, the fuel efficiency of the bike will take a hit.
                      2. Low end acceleration will also take a considerable hit. FYI the low end on the p200ns is not upto the mark.
                      3. I guess it also reduces your top speed, though am not quite sure about this.

Btw, why do you want to upsize the tyres?
If you are a cornering maniac, go for PSD, it'll fulfill all your needs without a problem.

Even I'm relatively new to the forum,
I think the senior members will guide you better.

                      • @shibadip and myth:today inquired the SVC about the center stand, they said if you want two you can get it today itself and if you need three or more you will have to wait for atleast a week(that too not sure) but there are no oil filters at present(will come next week).

                            • and if u upgrade to 150/60 it makes almost the same as 130/70 as 130/70 has tyre profile of 91 and that of 150/60 is 90 so it wud not make that amount of difference.......

                              • Upgraded the rear tyre tp PSD's from RB Tyres @ Parel paid 2500 net. Just in case anyone wanted to know

Definitely getting a better feel from the bike and she's much more confident on rough roads. A worthy upgrade IMO.

                                A small query-

A day after taking delivery, I went to the dealers where the mechanic adjusted the Idling RPM to around 1K. Facing frequent stalls at signals and even more so when trying to stay within the prescribed speed limits. Now I just keep her below 4.5K rather than micromanaging the speed. Is this okay? Any tips to avoid the stalls??

                                Thanks!
