  • Hi Friends,

This is my first post to this thread.. i just need piece of advice from 200NS owners. After a lot of analysis (though not in 200NS) i decided to buy CBR150R. and i have booked that bike and waiting to get in hands by Feb 1st week. why i have booked is that waiting period for this bike is 1.5 months..i badly needed a bike by February 1st week..Honda showroom guy told me that anytime i can cancel the booking. they will detect only 200rs. after booking i had many confusions which bike to choose... after a lot of analysis i narrowed down my research into 3 bikes CBR150R>CBR250R>200NS.. dont be surprised..Duke is not there in the list (Personally i did not like that bike).. and also you might be wondered all 3 bikes are made for different purposes (CBR150R-race bike, CBR250R-highway tourer, 200NS-naked version.. even i dont know why i am confused with these 3 bikes..) let me justify why are these 3 bikes.. My budget was 1 lack.. i can stretch it to 1.5 lack if it is really worth and makes sense... initially i started with FZ.. since many bikes are already running in streets..i decided to go for R15.. because of Pillion seat and uncomfortable riding posture i decided not to go for.. Then its competitor CBR150R.. this bike met all my requirements but only issue price is bit high and there is no Pass light, engine kill switch & Poor quality switch gear. still i am planning to go for this bike only.. if your advice changes my mind then it could be 200NS .. Why CBR250R... ? 150R is 1.4 lakh & 250R is 1.7 lakh... my mind was asking why not spent 30k more and go for all time best CBR250R.but FE is very less compared to 150R... thats it about the background of my research on bikes ... now come to 200NS... when i saw this bike first time i did not like it.. since Bajaj showroom was very near to my home.. i happened to see this bike oftenly...then i started to like this bike..recently i did Test Drive for this bike.. Really good bike.. it has all the features and 200cc engine.. riding pleasure was not as good as R15 which i test drove very next to 200NS.. With 1 lakh price tag all these features are not available from any other manufacturer... also fits in my budget.. i want to know the Pros & Cons of the bike, FE & what is advantages and disadvantages it has over CBR150R ? There are some concerns about the reliability of Bajaj.. i am looking for long term use..

I have listed my requirements below.. i am seeking your advice on this... since there are 1000 pages in 200NS ownership thread i was able to read only few pages....CBR150R was launched before this bike.. but ownership thread has only 200 pages.. so i just thought there is something special in 200NS...

I am living in Maraimalai Nagar (20 Km from Tamabarm), chennai. i am 27 years old. working in mahindra city which is 12 km away from my home. i looking for a new bike for commuting purpose. most of the time i will be using the bike to go to my office. . in weekend and holidays sometimes i hang with my friends and go for riding. not every weekend. occasionally i go for a long drive. There are many bikes for commuting. but i want a stylish, reliability and and at least 35- 40km/ ltr fuel efficiency..

which bike you would suggest for me ?

What are your requirements? Daily trvael..preferences...u have told us nothing
all are completely 3 different categories and we simply cannot suggest one bike is better over another...

Your best bet is go to What bike section and put in a post with ur budget...your preferences your requirements your height weight and all that stuff so everyone on xbhp can help u better

all time best??? You must do a good homework and ask reviews only from honest owners. I rather feel it is that bike which exposed the flaws of Honda India. This piece does really well in other countries but is truly a piece of crap in India. The quality is just horribly absent.

I'd suggest dump the cbrs and get the NS

ur daily ride isnt much...plus small touring can be done even on a 150cc bike...unless u have a fairing fettish and cant do without FI and suff...NS is the bike for you..cheaper to maintain and has better power than cbr 150 and cheaper than cbr 250...if u plan to do extensive highway ride then buy a faired bike....test ride and decide

            • Hi guys,

Having a peculiar issue with my NS. When I start the bike it idles at 1200rpm (cold) and 1700rpm (hot). So far so good. But after riding for say 5-6 KMs, whenever i stop at signal or rolling the bike by holding clutch, the bike idles at 2300 rpm. It hangs around there for some 40-60 seconds and drops down to 1700. If i switch the engine off when its hung at 2300 and restart immediately, it idles at 1700 just like it should. This is weird, and I don't know why its happening. Even SVC guys couldn't remove this issue. Any help regarding this?? Its sure a carburetor issue.

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

I haven't used the filter...just saying it after listening to users, experts, etc on xbhp and outside. And yes it could be that some of them did not fit it properly. But as far as its location under the tank is concerned, i did not mean its positioning. What i meant was that the air when pulled in will have dust elements which may not be filtered properly.

This is not a issue , AFAIK the idle increases to 2.5 so that you dont have to twist the throttle much in stop and go traffic .

I had the same issue for long time. You are running on Lean settings bro. Kindly tune it to a little bit Rich, only little. Are you facing any heating issues also?

even I used to think like that however those settings used to result in rapid heating of bike. So I am for sure it's an issue which can be rectified by tuning

When you are considering CBR 150 /NS200 / CBR 250

Then I would say NS200 is much better on over all performance in 1L budget. It's a real VFM.

If you can afford then CBR250 is the only choice.

Regarding Bajaj niggles and etc....Pros and cons are with all manufacturers.

If you are really into the touring then i suggest better go for CBRs. Due to cross wind it(200ns) definitely cause great hindrance in your speed. As your requirement is within city limits and occasional short tour you can very well go for 200ns or Duke 200. If you have enough money at your disposal, better buy a Duke 200(brand,FI,quality of the material better than 200NS,take a test ride which will make you think, weight& height factor which helps in balancing your bike to a certain extent better than 200NS). If money is a shortage, Pulsar 200NS definitely put a smile on your face.

It is not present on flat roads but is present on even slightly uneven surfaces.
Facing the same prob for about a month now... took it to the SVC and they couldnt find it too... in my case its from the front part of the bike, thats for sure ....

why not use the Ninja 250R one? because it same size (100/80 front, 130/70 rear), IRC's Tyre, better stability in high speed, and the best part it's RADIAL Tyre.

Whenever it is going on the potholes there is tak tak sound as if some part has become somewhat loose. the coneset/racer is fine, the forks seem to be fine, the chain sprocket set is as it was when new. the ASC guys also cannot locate the problem source. If someone faced the same problem and got it solved, please post it. the sound gets irritating some times.

It is not present on flat roads but is present on even slightly uneven surfaces.

i kept complaining about same issue. Have gone svc number of times to get it sorted but with no help returned unhappily...But atlast yesterday found that a screw is missing from my left side leg guard... So check it also...As people had lot of issues of leg guard screw getting loose automatically, so it may be the case here...
