Got my chain tightened today but after that my rear brake lost its bite. It aint as crisp as it was earlier and I was in a hurry so bunked the thought of getting it rectified then and there.
    Hey

Please check for any kind of oil spills on your disks.
As you got your chain tightened, theres a possibility that the disk might have lubricant spilled on it.
Do spray water and just clean your disk and let us know if it makes a difference.

probably spilt something on the disc a little that wasnt noticable at all...

btw the chain is tightened by those chain tension adjuster at the end of swing arms which holds the nut for fitting the rear wheel right?

Yep...will check any oil spill tomorrow
@mayank: Yes those bolts on the swing arm used to tighten the chain.

      • Guys ,

My bike is awesome and in love with her a lot. However, I got my first flats on NS this eve. I found there was a nail in the the rear tyre. I took it to the nearby tyre shop where he removed the nail and used the tubeles-tyre repair kit to fill in some piece of rubber-kinda stuff.

My question is - Is this a reliable method and safe for tyre. Tomo eve I'm starting for a tour as well. Do I need do anything else? Advice pls. New to tubeless tyres!

Nothing to worry... That is the way tubeless-tyre punctures are repaired..
Check the air-pressure in the morning.. If it hasnt decreased, then you are all set to go for your ride...

yup chain tightening does affect the rear braking...but it should not be much noticeable... Reason is, the plate moves along with the wheel, but the caliper dont... My rear brake used to bite so hard on just tapping it...now after chain adjust, it has reduced and i am happy it reduced...its under control now

well according to me it shouldnt affect...whats has brakes to do with timing?

and the rear brakes arent too good...i hardly use them...the front has a very good bite
just use a wee bit of rear brake when braking...

i have exactly the same prblem on my activa...handle not locking when completely left...have to move it a bit towards right and i guess that was after a accident too...its permanent for me...ask the SVC why s this issue there....
Hey mayank isnt it risky to use more of front brakes. What about when in higher speed and there is a need of urgent breaking. Even i am scary of applying rear breaks now since my bike has slipped once after applying rear break at 45 kmph.

Yes no matter how hard I press the rear brake, the wheel doesn't lock. Will have to get habituated.
Got the 1st service done today. Bike smoother, gears softer and engine quieter. No Oil filter available, asked to check back after 1 month ATLEAST!
Bloody svc mechs have to be forced to work. They were getting the bikes of their known persons to jump up the queue for service so had to go and shout at the floor manager.
Next the mech just changed the engine oil and cleaned the oil filter and was done. I had to tell him about all the work he needs to do. Told him that the chain was a bit loose, he says it should be like that only! Idiot! He was rather in a hurry to ride the bike!
The first service should be named as "OIL CHANGE AND WASHING SERVICE"

You shouldn't apply front brakes only...no matter at what speed you are gradually press the front ones and a bit later the rear ones. The front brake works as an opposing force against the bike's forward movement and the rear brake helps to slow down the bike quicker. using front brake is the correct way to braking.

looks like for my first service i will take in writing on a paper what all should be done and get him mention on the job card and stay present there while he does all the work...

while taking delivery of my bike i asked them will i be allowed to stay and look at my bike being serviced and they strictly said "company policy is NO"

and yes....exactlyas mentiones...use the combination of both brakes....that is use front more and rear less(roughly about the ratio of 6:4 or 7:3)...using only rear brake will lock up the wheels and only front brakes at high speeds might make u do a stoppie

Well in my SVC there is no such strictness & because i'm their premium costomer..I actually stand near & watch the servicing..today went to SVC to fix the coolant leaking problem...fixed & gave the bike in half an hour before other bikes there to be serviced...hope i will get the VIP treatment during 1st service also...lol..

                        • Lately my bike has started sounding as though someone had put some sand in the engine but couldn't understand the problem,Today,I checked the engine oil level and it seems to be quite low(below the lower marking). It seems this is the problem but my main concern is that is the engine alright and will topping the engine oil restore its smoothness. My bike is otherwise quite smooth and has clocked about 950 kms.
Also when I start the bike after leaving it for sometime and twist the throttle it dies out making a 'blap' sound as though its misfiring which is making me very tensed and this happens almost every cold start.
