Proper AFR tuning => No Vibes at all !!!
1700 km update :
Money spent on Fuel so far ( regular fuel , not premium ) : 2800 INR
Approx. Fuel efficiency : 44 kmpl !!!

The bike was running ‘ohkay’ so far but kinda felt “dry”.
And used to vibrate a LOT !! Especially since the past 300 kms the bike felt like a generator post 80 kph mark.
I was regretting my decision of getting myself the 200 NS. Felt like I should have bought the R15 V2.0.

To sum it up I wasn't in love with my bike.So I tuned the AFR screw today to make the air-fuel mixture a little richer and turned the screw 180 degrees ( anti-clockwise ) and now there are no vibrations even @ 110 kph !!! NONE !!!! No vibes in the 4-6k rpm range either.
The bike sounds more throaty and nice now. Though the richer setting would decrease the fuel efficiency by a small amount but its a small price to pay for no vibrations. The bike feels much more smooth now , though, there isn't any variation between the RPM & the corresponding speed i.e the bike still attains 100 kph mark @ 7000 rpm just like before altering the AFR mix, but minus the vibrations.
Only issue I’m facing right now is that sometimes the gear locks in the neutral while shifting between 1st & 2nd gears which is kinda irritating.I’ll get it fixed @ 2nd service.
All in all seems like today I found my “day of love”…hehehe

Black and Muddy !!!! Its only 1100 kms after the oil change and according to the manual top up should be around 4500 kms but the SVC guys told me that its better to get it changed at 4500 kms instead of top up. Then why is the oil black so early than given in the manual.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostYa, it looks OK. it's between the Min and Max level.
But have a look of the oil colour closely. It already looks Black and muddy. Change it in that case.
AFAIK, oil level must be checked when the engine is cold.
When hot/running, the oil is supposed to be moving all over the engine assembley, and it won't give the correct level.

So making into richer reduced your vibes on post 7k?
Mine too vibrates (its avoidable, but no vibration is better than less vibration

Same thing with me as well. i am 600+ on ODO, and while there was no noise what so ever at first, there is a slight hissing sound from the rear disc. But it's very faint, and can be heard only if I ride lidless in a Quite locality. Even the noise gets dampened by the engine noise as soon as the bike picks up speed.Originally posted by faffy View PostI was not getting this noise when the bike was NEW...now i am at 4000kms+ on odo and it has started recently only......
Not very worried about it though. As PSR sir said, i think, it requires some cleaning.

As said in my earlier post, I am quite worried as my bike was vibrating a lot At the higher range (especially post 8K RPM).
I went for a solo ride with her today afternoon and found the the vibes are much less when ridden solo than with a Pillion. But still the vibes are huge comparatively.
Having said that , i have re-tuned the engine to a leaner setting post the setting by the SVC at 1st service.
I will again check out by making a richer setting. Hopefull, I will be as pleased as you are right now
@PSR ji - While making the ride today, i had to stop for a while to take a phone call. (I switched off my bike and the halt was about 10 min). When i restarted, the enigne wud go off after starting for a sec or two. I had that for about 5-6 times. Then i increased the idle a little bit and found that the engine is behaving like a locomotive engine!! It was like for 2 sec the fuel was comming in and the idle was increasing, and after that the fuel supply is stopped making the idle go down.[Summary - the idle is not constant, moving from 1.3k to 1.1k RPM]
DOES THIS MEAN I AM RUNNING ON A VERY LEAN SETTING???
ya, the manual tells a top up at 5000 kms and the next change at 10000kms...Originally posted by [URL="http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/members/jai6339.html"jai6339[/URL];888541]Black and Muddy !!!! But buddy, it's just a DTSI oil, and it can no way go to 10k kms.. All those who have Experience in this, knows that the oil have an actual life of about 1.5 to 2k kms. In case it was ridden hard, then the oil life reduces further. So change to Motul, or Shelf, and that will have a better life and performance.
But don't expect a 10K kms lifespan from those as well!!sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
I found my bike shivers aftter the speed of 65kmph. How can such a top end bike behaves like this. Running at higher speed gives me a scary feeling. And one more thing its around 2400km on odo. Yet to do a second service at 4500km. Should i change my oil. And will service people come to know if i have changed my oil because they told that you must stick to bajaj oil till first 3 free services. I have read lot about motul in this forum. Which motul oil will be ideal now for ns.

Hi,
First my congratulations to all P200 NS owners. I would like to share my problem with all of you and request suggestions from you as well. I am an NRI residing in UAE on employment. I proceed to our country on vacation every half-yearly / sometimes once in a year depending on the leave availability. Since I am very much interested in biking I own a Pulsar 180 bought in December 2011 just before my vacation in Jan 2012 and run 4K KM. My bike is always idle expect during my vacation period.
After I returned to UAE, I came to know about P200 NS and have been following this thread for updates as I am very much impressed with P200 NS. Once P200 NS was launched, I told my cousin to sell my P180 and buy P200 NS. So he approached an auto finance company to show the vehicle and get the offer. I was shocked to know the rate offered by him that it was just 33K to 36K. However my cousin consulted some more auto financiers and even he tried for an exchange in our local Bajaj showroom but no avail. Therefore he advised me not to sell at such a hefty loss and forget P200 NS for time-being. Eventually I refrain myself from selling P180 and buying P200 NS.
But to be honest, still I can't give up P200 NS and at the same time can't sell my P180 at such a low price. Thus I have been in so predicament and unable to makeup myself. So please give your valuable suggestion.
PS: My P180 registration number is 10, for which I paid 7K in auction.
(From Feb 2007 till Dec 2011 I owned P150)
Thank you

Yes. Now there are no vibes at all. Even the tank is as stable as the frame now !!! The difference is very apparent. Before tuning the AFR I was very much hesitant to do speeds over 55 kmph because of the vibes which were insane after 80 kmph mark , but now I have to look at the console to know what speeds I'm doing.I used to keep a gap of 1 inch between my legs & the tank so as to avoid a free vibration massage but its a whole different story now.Originally posted by J K View PostSo making into richer reduced your vibes on post 7k?
Mine too vibrates (its avoidable, but no vibration is better than less vibration
) when I take 90+
And now I am happily riding over 70 kmph.

I can't tell you in words how happy I am to know that it was just the AFR which was responsible for the vibes. But that's all in the past now.
True. The vibes ( if any ) magnify when there's a pillion on-board.Though I haven't got a chance to test this after the AFR tuning.I'll post the response as soon as I check this. And All the best with the tuning.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostYour post did gave me a great amount of peace

Calculate the fuel efficiency you are getting right now & if its over 40 kmpl then I'd say that you are also having the same issue I had i.e a lean AFR.I tuned my NS' AFR today, to rich ( 180 degree anti-clockwise ) and the difference is as if its not even the same bike !! The vibes are gone !!Originally posted by aniketpassion View PostI found my bike shivers after the speed of 65kmph. How can such a top end bike behaves like this. If you know how to tune the AFR on your NS , make it a tad richer. But first calculate the fuel efficiency.
Teflon Coating costs 600 bucks which includes the coating to be done twice. The first one when taking the delivery and the 2nd after 6 months.Originally posted by Nemo_Som View PostH

IND Number plate does cost that much & takes around 1-2 days to get the job done. Here at ahmedabad they cost at about 900 bucks !!

Can you give a hint of how many turns or that sort did u do... Or did u just go the feel of the engine??sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

Initially, a 90 degrees ( Anti-clockwise ).Originally posted by Shibadip View PostDO tell the mileage figures after the tuning.

And then again 90 Degrees to see if there is any improvement in performance figures. Which I figured out is Nill but the bike felt very stable.
So in total 180 Degrees of anti-clockwise turn.
I'd suggest you to take a screw driver with you on a long stretch of road which is good in condition & traffic is scarce. And tune by only 90 degrees at a time until you get the desired results.

where did you do the first service? Joka?Originally posted by myth2104 View PostYes no matter how hard I press the rear brake, the wheel doesn't lock. Will have to get habituated. Got the 1st service done today. Bike smoother, gears softer and engine quieter. No Oil filter available, asked to check back after 1 month ATLEAST! Bloody svc mechs have to be forced to work. They were getting the bikes of their known persons to jump up the queue for service so had to go and shout at the floor manager. Next the mech just changed the engine oil and cleaned the oil filter and was done. I had to tell him about all the work he needs to do. Told him that the chain was a bit loose, he says it should be like that only! Idiot! He was rather in a hurry to ride the bike! The first service should be named as "OIL CHANGE AND WASHING SERVICE" You shouldn't apply front brakes only...no matter at what speed you are gradually press the front ones and a bit later the rear ones. The front brake works as an opposing force against the bike's forward movement and the rear brake helps to slow down the bike quicker. using front brake is the correct way to braking. Hey guys!
Today I noticed that the LHS 'Pulsar' logo on the tank of mine lost half of the 'L' part.I just came off and i didn't know even. I noticed it while washing my bike. Theres that sticky double sided tape on the tank now.
I just wanted to know if the service centre/showroom would replace the logo under the warranty. If not, could you please tell my how much would the logo cost, and will i have to buy it in a set?Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take...,
But by the moments that take your breath away...

you are planning to do what i already did....i.e. write everything on a paper and then make them write those on the job card....but do u really think the mechs understand english and reads what is written on the job card....Originally posted by mayank.travadi View Postlooks like for my first service i will take in writing on a paper what all should be done and get him mention on the job card and stay present there while he does all the work... while taking delivery of my bike i asked them will i be allowed to stay and look at my bike being serviced and they strictly said "company policy is NO" and yes....exactlyas mentiones...use the combination of both brakes....that is use front more and rear less(roughly about the ratio of 6:4 or 7:3)...using only rear brake will lock up the wheels and only front brakes at high speeds might make u do a stoppie
i have that same sound... No matter how many times i tell the svc, they say there is no sound.... I am searching for the number of the bajaj head engineer of kolkata so that i can blast him and feel like beating him up... But no one is giving me the number.... Can someone plz help?Originally posted by avi_nash94 View PostLately my bike has started sounding as though someone had put some sand in the engine but couldn't understand the problem,Today,I checked the engine oil level and it seems to be quite low(below the lower marking). It seems this is the problem but my main concern is that is the engine alright and will topping the engine oil restore its smoothness. My bike is otherwise quite smooth and has clocked about 950 kms. Also when I start the bike after leaving it for sometime and twist the throttle it dies out making a 'blap' sound as though its misfiring which is making me very tensed and this happens almost every cold start.
dont worry about that.... Its normal... Many bikes of different manufacturers have this... It will come and go... Leave it as it isOriginally posted by mayankjames View PostToday while on my way back from Goergaon, I noticed a very subtle hiss noise (with helmet on) coming from my front disc break whenever I was breaking. There was a lot of Andheri traffic and I did brake a lot for 8-10 km. Literally a lot. But I still don't think that would be the problem coz however, as soon as I was 2-3 km away from place, I noticed the noise wasn't there anymore. Anyone with the same issue here? Should I visit SVC or is it normal? Help needed. :/
