Ya bro i am fine now...i recoved and did more than 1500kms in 18 days...now on close to 1700... if you ask me, 2kmpl drop in mileage and a bit of slow pickup is justified for the safety the tire gives.. You will feel how bad the stock is if you use the stock after using the revz for a few days.... I locked up the rear wheel of shibadip's bike every now and them after being used to my bike.... Its worth the safety... Btw i have changed both front and rear.... i am trying to upload pics for a long time but unable to do so... Dont know why....cant we upload pics through phone?

obviosuly not by removing the stand and getting it fixed again...but what bolts to remove...

no the stand is special for the NS

other pulsars have a inverted 'V' shaped stand...or u can say like a mountain...the two rods of the stand almost meet at the top

while the NS stand is like 'H' its very wide...

yes i dont have the exp but i made it a point to see how the stand was fitted and saw how the stands looked on other pulsars stand beside it...

the outside local mech said bajaj copied yamaha FZ to make this bike :P

        Glad to hear that!

And impressive stats there... 1500kms in 188 days... *Respect*

So.. Dry road grip is stock level na??... Here in Chennai... Wet Roads are very limited... exist but, not for very long... Mileage drop by 2kmpl isn`t even an concern.. I was guessing it would drop by 5+/litre... Pickup... I can live with a little drop also.. I am not Drag racing around the city... Again... Pirelli or MRF is the confusion.. I mean I can strech upto Pirelli.. but.. you know.. dilemma!!!

I never tried uploading pics through mobile... will try and let you know!

          Thanks in advance man...
There will be many of us waiting for your step by step.

Just for now, can you tell is it fitted over the silencer, or is it beyond the silencer??

I think MRF will be good eh=nough, if you are restricting your ride to the city only (i.e u r not performing hard core cornering over any twisties, or taking it to racetrack)

As i said that the MRF also did skid but it was under extreme panic breaking (as will any other tyre, and esp ther is a disc brake), but the best part was the Bike was in the same straight line, and you won't loose the confidence of having control on ur bike.

I think, PSD will be bit heavier than MRF, and thus will be harsher on the pick-up and mileage.

About the stock tyres, many of NSains here suggested that the tyre will stop skidding, once they are broken in.
While the rear tyre skidded 5 time in the 1st 400 kms , there hasn't been a single skid in the next 200 kms. But that I think, I got a hold of how to apply the rear brake properly without skidding the tyre. (FIY, this is the 1st time I'm using a rear disc brake bike, and the brakes are very hard, almost feather touch hard)
But during yesterdays ride, as soon as i took my bike on the side of the road, while was mud and gravel, the tyre skidded, although the speed was as low as 20/15 kmph

              • 40 Days of Ownership - Report

And the 12000kms comes up!! YIPEEEE

                Bike bought : 25-Sept-2012
Current ODO : 12061kms (40 days of ownership)

                SVC Record:

                1st Free Service: 508kms : 1 days ownership
                2nd Free Service: 5213kms : 17 days ownership
                3rd Free Service: 11,902kms : 40 days ownership

Had gone to the SVC. Got all the issues resolved. The Air filter was cleaned up. All the nuts and bolts tightened up. Found the switch gear to be faulty. Got it replaced by a new one within warranty. Chain was cleaned and tightened. Feels smooth, butter smooth. Hardly able to hear the engine running. Changed to current Motul 7100 to 300v. Acceleration has returned to normal. Got a few more nuts and bolts cushioned. The vibration is gone and you can't feel any vibes in any gear in any speed (have checked only till 142kmph)

                Bike Status:
Scratchless except for the front mudguard's black paper cover came off from the edges and a scratch on the crash guard (Thanks to the office morons)

                Mileage :
Just rode around for 150kms to check the mileage. Found out that its back to bang on 53kmpl+. I was NOT riding sanely. Mostly was doing triple digits.

                Acceleration:
Super awesome! Feels great to get back in form!

                Top End:
Touched 142kmph and my weight is 93.4kgs. (Yeah, I know accurately coz last evening I was forced to go to the Gym and thats the first thing I was asked to do, measure my weight!)

It was fun watching the SVC manager's facial expression when I told him it was only a month old while I was being handed over the receipt :P

Hats off to your riding buddy..

have a question- is opening up the bike to the extent shown in your attached image quite difficult?? and do we need some specialized tools to open her up??
I am planning to do some DIY, but need to do my home-work beforehand

                  • He he.. Thanks

Actually opening up this much is kinda easy. No special tools required. First open the rear seat. Then the side panels. Open the rider seat. Now open up the tank extender and the tank holder (big bolt). and its open till this extent. Opening the headlamp without damaging the wiring seals can be done with a big paper pin.
To open up this much, the guy used nothing more than 3 tool set. L & key set, the T type spanner and spanner. It took him exactly 20mins to open up all this.

Just beware while putting things together. The tank is kinda too tiny to look and the tank extenders makes it look huge. I am actually doubting, how come 12 litres of petrol actually fit in that small tiny thing. Looks smaller than a 5L cooker.

Just a question: Anyone here at 12k or more?

Are you telling that the Tank extender, and the Cover Tank can be Separated??? I thought it was one piece thing.

I am not going to open up the Headlamp right now, as the headlamp fairing wud be Changed by the SVC under warranty as soon as the spares become available.
I don't have any of the above tools with me, but I am planning to buy a L&Key set soon. In that case will buy the other two as well.

I Have seen the actual tank, as a opened up NS pic was posted by a NSian long ago in this thread. Ya, it looks Quite small.
And the big bike feel of the NS has a lot to do with the extended cover tank.

I think Rahul DevNath, and Surojit are close to 10k mark. But You are in the top o the list.

2). Top Speed - 128 kmph with a pillion of weight 87 kgs.
3). I am not sure of 130... but I am sure this boy can do a 120 - 125 kmph all day.

Ok i'll just briefly mention how to do it....let me know if u want to knw the exact places of the bolts

1.park the bike on side stand
                          2. on the right side before the brake lever u will find a bolt and u will see it hold nothing..if u look further inside u will see it goes into a cylindrical stuff...yes remove this bolt and that small cylindrical metal hollow piece will come out
                          3. on your left side near the gear lever u will see 2 bolts. 1 is where the side stand is attached. on the right of this bolt there is another bolt similar to the one u just removed...unscrewing this bolt is difficult and the mechanic removed the gear lever to get proper access
                          4. after removing this bolt you will see again a small black hollow metal cylinderical pipe like thing comes out which was held by the bolt
5.these two small cylindrical pipes go into the centre stand top part. That is each one goes to the left and right of the stand where the stand will be attached to the bike
6.now that these small pipes are in the stand place the top end the stand where u removed the bolts and the pipes came out..
7.put the bolt again where u removed it from and tighten it...u might require a hammer to push the bolt a little in first and the things were too tight
8.the spring(for retraction) is not given i suppose in the box containing centre stand. I didnt check properly. Also a rubber block is to be attached to the hole in the stand so the stand when retracted doesnt damage the underpart of the bike. please check the box by opening it if u get the spring and the rubber block
                          9. adjust the spring in the centre stand in the grove given
                          10. Voila the centre stand is fixed. I dont have pics right now but if u require i will put pics of the place where the bolts are to be removed and the pic of the spring and the grove where u need to fix it. And extremely sorry as cannot post a perfect DIY in the thread by removing and reattaching the centre stand and sorry that i didnt click the picks when the job was being done...after the job was completed i thought to myself that its so easy...but u might need one more person to hold the bike straight while u remove the bolts.

                            • Today morning before preparing for my day's ride, I noticed one of the silencer-chassis (right side one to be precise) but was out on the ground. Weird as it might sound it took me 5 mins to figure out where on earth that nut came out from and how could a nut so big come out from a brand new bike barely 600km old. Later I realized that the nut was bolted a little loose only. And the nut is kind of a push and screw nut (hard to xplain the type) see it to know it better. It took me a decent 15 minutes but I managed to tighten it and put it back in using the tool kit. All is good now. My first service is date 7 of the September. Will make sure get everything tightened. Still can't stop myself from not polishing and staring at this amazing Blue Beauty.

                              • Hi guys,

Does anybody know how to adjust the head light to have the light beam focused properly. My old FZ had a little bolt on the left side of the head light assembly. But I could not figure out how do it on my NS.
