  • Hey Ns'ians,

Been a while since my last post, but decided to update you guys on my ride; Nox. I've now got about 2300k's on the odo, which means I'm past that eagerly awaited run-in thingy. That's not to say I've not had a heavy wrist before that, cos I have on several occasions, but now I'm not afraid to let it scream..and SCREAM it does! Crazy animal at times..

So I've been doing some light reading on the posts every now and then and finally decided upon letting the bike adapt to my riding style, ie. Fairly heavy right wrist with the occasional super slow low rpm riding (mainly cos it gets bone chillingly cold at nights here in Delhi now!) I've been commuting to Gurgaon from South Delhi on an everyday basis for work: a good 18k's one way on what is mostly the expressway, which means I maintain an average speed of like 80kmph. At times, its super smooth and at other times, not so much, but thats usually solved by ripping it for a little bit, after which it (weirdly?) smoothens out at lower speeds.

So yea, mostly high speed riding nowadays, thus I think the engine is adapting to being more long legged, hence low speed riding takes a beating as its noticeably rougher at lower speeds. I exercise the gears quite a lot in traffic riding. I think I've come on a solution to solve the extra clunky downshifts: I blip the throttle when downshifting, employing the match-rpm method to avoid those dreaded noises. Upshifts are smooth as ever, just a couple of 1st to 2nd mis-shifts causing a neutral to pop up, but I guess thats mainly my error. No false neutrals otherwise.

I haven't really done an update on the fuel efficiency, but suffice to say, it still seems to be improving, with less frequent visits to the kind lady at the BP pump! I still keep it on Premium. Dunno if it makes THAT much of a difference, but I like to spoil Nox

But hey, guys, PLEASE PLEASE help me sort out the fairing noise...it is ABSOLUTELY INSANE and has worsened :/ Ive tried tightening all those bolts and a couple of weeks ago I took it to the Bajaj SVC in Okhla and forced him to take off the entire console and look for anything loose inside it (based on a suggestion I read somewhere earlier in this thread) I personally made sure he tightened all the bolts inside the blessed thing, but still NO difference whatsoever. Its worse :/ Suggestions please! Any NS owner who has managed to solve this, kindly share. BTW, no harm in taking off the whole console assembly, it doesn't affect your odo, but I had to reset the clock! Should I write to Bajaj about the noise?

Also, I bought the bike on the 3rd of October, which means that I have been riding it for just over a month and I havent received the registration papers as yet. Upon visiting the showroom several days ago, they informed me that I would receive a call when they get it. Should I take any action? (I've been riding around with a marker scribbled number plate all this while :/)

Lastly, what do you guys think about taking the bike in for a premature second servicing? I want them to iron out all the vibes, rattles and squeaks once and for all, and the dude there said I'd have to leave the bike with them overnight or so. Technically im supposed to take it in after 4000k's but is it wrong to take it in earlier?

Other than that, all seems to be well. Only other thing I can say is that there might be a problem with my throttle cable, as I face a problem with linearity at times..nothing serious though. Black still attracts dust like honey attracts flies but I keep it clean (a little dusting every now and then is all it needs).

And people, although I am not a racer by nature, all of you complaining about the underwhelming nature of the engine, take it from me, grab the bike by the scruff of its neck, shift down a couple of cogs, twist that wrist and watch it demolish most things on the road and watch smug grins around you disappear. It will not put your reputation at stake. Trust me. As for the persistant types who want to keep racing you, just ignore them after demolishing them in a short burst. RIDE SENSIBLY and don't let the andrenaline always get the better of you.

    Keep riding! Cheers.

PS: I plan to take Nox up to Mussoorie from Delhi in a couple of weeks time..advisable?

my fuel bar too is crap.... I did a tankfull and even after riding for 250 kms it was showing full and then all of a sudden came down to 4 bars.... its such a nice feeling to see the fuel bar full...

LOL. I would have anyways skimmed off my newly exchanged tire if that was the case. So its better I rip up this tire and then get a better one. I am fond of free style stunting and hence I look forward to make some necessary changes. PS: That was to answer your Clutch Plate thing. :P

@Rahul. Thanks, I will search for Revz-S and try them out. Thank you for the help

          • Guys, Please direct me to correct thread if I am posting this in the wrong place ...

I am looking forward to get one pulsar 200Ns this month from Bangalore.

I had test driven it once, and I loved the way it responded.

What I have here are some queries ( which can help me out while taking delivery or before )

Do we have a checklist to check what all checks have to be done before taking delivery ?
I would like to know, how to verify whether the bike used as a test drive bike or not ( when I went for a TD , couple of months back I have noticed they have unplugged the odometer cable).
I am looking for a grippier and stickier tire than the euro grip offered , I would love to get it replaced while delivery itself so that I can adjust the tire cost while delivering itself
( please suggest me which tyres are good for front and back ,
I was looking at Pirelli Speed Demon for the front and Michelin Sirac for the rear ,
I have seen in some threads that PSD wears out faster and lasts arnd 15K , do we have any alternative option for the NS ? , )

And finally I am a bit struck between the color to go for Yellow or Red ? , Yellow never was my personal choice for any other bike ( it was too blazing) , but for 200 NS it looks pretty much at home , and looks pretty young too . Red looks to be the second best option ( its a bit of conservative color to me , I was always a fan of RED color), any idea which one to go for ? ,

I found this checklist on a RE thread...should pretty much do the work.
(I roughly edited it so strike out the points not applicable for P200NS)

I dont think Sirac has the same profile tyre as the stock (or does?)
If you want a better life for the tyre than PSD, then go for MRF Revz (I little grip sacrifice will be required, but still Revz do an awesome job).

                • Thanks Rajat (Myth2104), for the quick update.

Can you also let me know , how to verify whether the bike offered is a TD bike or not ?, if ODO reading is less than 10Km or something ?..

Regarding the tires, I was wrong I think, I cant find MICHELIN SIRAC for the Rear Size..

This is a dump question , there are no premium charges for Yellow Colored Pulsar 200Ns right ?

Nope ,... No extra money (premium) charges for the Yellow Color..
Also, regarding the delivery please try and take it during day light.. Since with day light one can visually check things better compared to during night time... Just my 2 cents..

I am still curious to know, is it possible that they would disconnect the ODOmeter cable and give the bike for Test Drive ?, I am not sure how to verify that ..

This fear would've been valid had there been a shortage of NS and the dealer might have wanted to increase his sales. But since the case is not so and most of the dealers have a dedicated test bike, chances are very slim that you may end up with a test bike. Other than that there isnt hardly any concrete method to make out if the bike was a test bike or not. But I guess if you insist the dealer to let you select the bike from the godown itself, you can avoid the risk to some extent.
(Check for some mud/dust on the inner side of the rear tyre hugger as I find that area to be the Achilles' heel if some wants to hide the bike's condition as it catches dust quickly when ridden)

Yes, the odometer cable can be disconnected.

                        • Hey Guys... Couple of quick queries..
                          1. How do u put this beast at performance in the city & highway??
                          2. What mileage are you all able to pull outta it ( both city, highway & also frequent touring ( like in the weekends with a busy or moderate city riding )
                          3. I know this might not be appropriate but hope you all understand the reason behind this particular query- Comparing to the KTM & CBR ( irrespective of the price here ) if any of you have experienced on all of them, what ups & downs can u list with experience shared or gathered??

                          Appreciated everyone..

                              1. It has one heck of an amazing brakes. Always keep the bike above 3k RPM, you will always be in the power band till 3rd gear. For 4,5 and 6th gear keep the bike atleast above 4k RPM to be in the power band.

                              2. Pre servicing : 28 & 33 respectively Post Servicing : 52 & 56.4kmpl

                              3. Ups and downs are there even in a Lamborgini. But the main fact is most of its downs are literally fixable. Vibes, nuts getting loose, front disks getting bent (limited to the eastern part only I guess), not so grippy tyres (but yes they are loads better than the TVS tyre after you have ridden it for 500kms) and lastly the under-belly exhaust touching the ground (well unless you are planning to go downhill straight offroading or going real slow i.e. 7-8kmph over speed breakers you do not need to take tension) are the issues this bike has got.
About Ups, there are more than one can say. Its the newest tech. in market. Hits 0-100 under 9secs (modded ones can do under 7secs or less). Great braking. Heavily tunable. Amazing F.E. for a 200cc 23bhp power-packed monster. Tripple spark tech helps much in cold startups and many more.

The pre to post service factor was a little weird to acknowledge, drastic improvement, but the question is, why was it that much of a draft?
As the fact remains, ups & downs come with almost every mechanical/technical stuff, but it's how well we acknowledge & proceed there after.
I understand the fact that the brakes are really amazing, felt it for myself too.
Tyres are of concern, which many have got changed almost immediately. The under belly issues are nominal & can be taken care of. Vibes & loosening of stuff has been a major concern throughout this bike as well as with my P135LS (current ). But the rest of the mentioned are technically understood & happy to know that practically experienced too.
Would appreciate the rest of the P200NS gang to also put their views once more on the thread.
                                Thanku
