You are practically living on bike!My 10 year bike has 18k on odo.Originally posted by utsavchs View PostAnd the 12000kms comes up!! YIPEEEE
Bike bought : 25-Sept-2012
Current ODO : 12061kms (40 days of ownership)
SVC Record:
1st Free Service: 508kms : 1 days ownership
2nd Free Service: 5213kms : 17 days ownership
3rd Free Service: 11,902kms : 40 days ownership
Had gone to the SVC. Got all the issues resolved. The Air filter was cleaned up. All the nuts and bolts tightened up. Found the switch gear to be faulty. Got it replaced by a new one within warranty. Chain was cleaned and tightened. Feels smooth, butter smooth. Hardly able to hear the engine running. Changed to current Motul 7100 to 300v. Acceleration has returned to normal. Got a few more nuts and bolts cushioned. The vibration is gone and you can't feel any vibes in any gear in any speed (have checked only till 142kmph)
Bike Status:
Scratchless except for the front mudguard's black paper cover came off from the edges and a scratch on the crash guard (Thanks to the office morons)
Mileage :
Just rode around for 150kms to check the mileage. Found out that its back to bang on 53kmpl+. I was NOT riding sanely. Mostly was doing triple digits.
Acceleration:
Super awesome! Feels great to get back in form!
Top End:
Touched 142kmph and my weight is 93.4kgs. (Yeah, I know accurately coz last evening I was forced to go to the Gym and thats the first thing I was asked to do, measure my weight!)
It was fun watching the SVC manager's facial expression when I told him it was only a month old while I was being handed over the receipt :P"Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

Can I switch to semi-synthetic oil at 1500 kms or so?Currently my bike is running on bajaj oil for the last 600 kms and has clocked 1020 kms. the engine is sounding very harsh for the last couple of days and can I mix two different brands of engine oil of the same grade and type together .Also i have used gear oil to lubricate the chain, will this cause any harm.
@RahulBarik:Can you please tell me the exact place at esplanade where you get Motul,if possible or any other shop near Howrah.

Nop. I am not sure if the extender can be separated from the tank cover but there are 2 bolts near the extenders. For the L&Key set, there are only 2 size of L&Key pieces required in the entire bike. Try if you can get them loose from somewhere.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostAre you telling that the Tank extender, and the Cover Tank can be Separated??? I thought it was one piece thing.
I am not going to open up the Headlamp right now, as the headlamp fairing wud be Changed by the SVC under warranty as soon as the spares become available.
I don't have any of the above tools with me, but I am planning to buy a L&Key set soon. In that case will buy the other two as well.
He he.. you can nearly say so.. :POriginally posted by albyjose View PostYou are practically living on bike!My 10 year bike has 18k on odo.
1. Yes. You can switch to SS or even FS at 1500kms. I filled Motul 7100 (SS) at 500kms. Throw away that Bajaj oil and never fill Bajaj oil again. The life of the Bajaj oil is 500~1000kms only (depending on riding style but it wont last more than 1000kms no mater how sanely you ride). If you want to go by me, fill Motul 7100 and forget rest till the next 5k kms. Refrain from mixing different brands no mater same grade and type. Every oil is unique in its components. Why else do you think, BAL FS and Motul FS or CASTROL FS have different life span? Any reaction between the chem. components would result in slag creation in the engine. Why take chances?Originally posted by avi_nash94 View PostCan I switch to semi-synthetic oil at 1500 kms or so?Currently my bike is running on bajaj oil for the last 600 kms and has clocked 1020 kms. the engine is sounding very harsh for the last couple of days and can I mix two different brands of engine oil of the same grade and type together .Also i have used gear oil to lubricate the chain, will this cause any harm.
2. Gear oil is specifically for Gears. Thats why its called 'Gear Oil' and not Chain lube. Well, it wont cause any harm in such a short span, but get the chain cleaned from the SVC and get the Motul chain spray and apply it. There isn't much difference between the motul one and the bajaj one, with motul one being the superior. I don't know the cost of the motul one, bajaj one costs 164INR here at Pune. I am using the Motul chain lube. Got 2 sprays free :P

Can you tell the full name of the motul engine oil best for 200NS??Originally posted by Shibadip View PostSame thing with me as well. i am 600+ on ODO, and while there was no noise what so ever at first, there is a slight hissing sound from the rear disc. But it's very faint, and can be heard only if I ride lidless in a Quite locality. Even the noise gets dampened by the engine noise as soon as the bike picks up speed.
Not very worried about it though. As PSR sir said, i think, it requires some cleaning.
Your post did gave me a great amount of peace

As said in my earlier post, I am quite worried as my bike was vibrating a lot At the higher range (especially post 8K RPM).
I went for a solo ride with her today afternoon and found the the vibes are much less when ridden solo than with a Pillion. But still the vibes are huge comparatively.
Having said that , i have re-tuned the engine to a leaner setting post the setting by the SVC at 1st service.
I will again check out by making a richer setting. Hopefull, I will be as pleased as you are right now
@PSR ji - While making the ride today, i had to stop for a while to take a phone call. (I switched off my bike and the halt was about 10 min). When i restarted, the enigne wud go off after starting for a sec or two. I had that for about 5-6 times. Then i increased the idle a little bit and found that the engine is behaving like a locomotive engine!! It was like for 2 sec the fuel was comming in and the idle was increasing, and after that the fuel supply is stopped making the idle go down.[Summary - the idle is not constant, moving from 1.3k to 1.1k RPM]
DOES THIS MEAN I AM RUNNING ON A VERY LEAN SETTING???
ya, the manual tells a top up at 5000 kms and the next change at 10000kms...
But buddy, it's just a DTSI oil, and it can no way go to 10k kms.. All those who have Experience in this, knows that the oil have an actual life of about 1.5 to 2k kms. In case it was ridden hard, then the oil life reduces further. So change to Motul, or Shelf, and that will have a better life and performance.
But don't expect a 10K kms lifespan from those as well!!

na na not stock level...dry grip is mindblowing on revz..didn't skid even once after changing tyres and i do ride and brake quite fast and hard....and today got a chance to ride in rains...and the tire held up quite good.... I am very impressed...Originally posted by govind.one View PostGlad to hear that! And impressive stats there... 1500kms in 188 days... *Respect* So.. Dry road grip is stock level na??... Here in Chennai... Wet Roads are very limited... exist but, not for very long... Mileage drop by 2kmpl isn`t even an concern.. I was guessing it would drop by 5 /litre... Pickup... I can live with a little drop also.. I am not Drag racing around the city... Again... Pirelli or MRF is the confusion.. I mean I can strech upto Pirelli.. but.. you know.. dilemma!!!
I never tried uploading pics through mobile... will try and let you know!
pirelli is better and less puncture-prone...
dont know about howrah bro but i got it from first left big shop at wellington...before dev's shop... I got motul 3100 gold semi-synth 320rs/litre.... Btw is centre stand still available at bandel? Whats the price with labour...? And what is the name of the dealer/svc where centre stand is available....Originally posted by avi_nash94 View PostCan I switch to semi-synthetic oil at 1500 kms or so?Currently my bike is running on bajaj oil for the last 600 kms and has clocked 1020 kms. the engine is sounding very harsh for the last couple of days and can I mix two different brands of engine oil of the same grade and type together .Also i have used gear oil to lubricate the chain, will this cause any harm. @RahulBarik:Can you please tell me the exact place at esplanade where you get Motul,if possible or any other shop near Howrah.Last edited by Rahulbarik; 11-04-2012, 01:27 AM.This Tail Is Japani Tail (spell as you like)

Hi!
I am having a very frustrating problem / issue with my NS.
The bike is 60 days / 5400 kms and is due for servicing soon.
Since the last 1500 kms or so, the engine has become very rough.... and the acceleration has also become very weak. It accelerates like a 100cc till about 7500 rpm, after which it gathers a bit of pace. Till about 3800-4000 kms, I was able to clock 148 kmph top on a daily basis, but since that time the acceleration has dropped, the bike takes ages to reach even 130 kmph. It also feels under powered, and is hardly accelerating in top gear. I took it to the service station but, they simply adjusted the ration and cleaned the air filter, with NO result / improvement. Instead, it has started to heat up too much, and knocks like crazy in 2nd and 3rd gear when it heats up with a further fall in acceleration.
I have made no mods to the bike till now, and am using the Bajaj engine oil.
Any suggestion guys about what could be the problem / issue...???
Also, anybody here using FS oil from Castrol / Motul.
Please share your feedback about the same.

I had mentioned about this a few pages back for another members problem, similar problem as yours, so here is the thing,
the 5000kms service interval is a joke.
why?
1.In our condition the air filter gets clogged in that much kms
2.Bajaj engine oil will becomes like water within 2k kms and your running the engine with a very low viscosity oil and thus the roughness and will lead to component damage.
3.chain gets loose, dirty and thus inefficiency in the ride gaining speed and also ride quality.
a 2500kms service interval is the best, or the best thing is
every 1000kms do the following
1.Clean chain and sprocket and properly lube it.
2.Clean air filter
3.Adjust chain slack
4.Tighten all bolts on the bike to eliminate vibration
Now about engine oil, if its bajaj oil, change every 2k kms. Youll understand when you give for service and see the drained oil.
Motul is the best and with most customer satisfaction, You can use Motul 5100 SS , it costs less than the Motul 300v or 7100 FS and performes the same as them.
I hope i have answered all the questions you asked,
Cheers

Thanks for the reply and btw the center stand is not available here right now.Initially they had got three and had quoted Rs.400 excluding the labor cost but all of them has been sold out. They have promised me that they will get it within one week after diwali. All they have got now are the oil filters and probably the air filters. The name of the dealer is 'Auto Aquarium' near Khadina More,Chinsurah.Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postdont know about howrah bro but i got it from first left big shop at wellington...before dev's shop... @all:does the NS have any kind of transmission fluid like in cars and if yes will changing it improve the gear shift quality to any extent?Last edited by avi_nash94; 11-04-2012, 03:49 PM.

You seem to have answered all the queries. Infact, I had browsed the forum after posting my problem and your suggestions seem in sync with others.
Hence forth, the following be followed:
1. Get the main center stand installed so that chain maintenance can be performed easily.
2. Clean Air filter every 1000 kms
3. Replace Engine oil and filter every 2500 kms.
One more issue, during cold starts, I am not using the choke and the warm idle is set at 1350-1400 RPM. During cold starts, I shift into neutral and pull in the clutch. Many times there is loud grinding sound from the engine / clutch. Also, there is a CONSIDERABLE change in engine noise during cold starts when pressing / releasing the clutch in Neutral.
I am getting 36 kmpl (hard riding) and 41.5 - 42 kmpl under sedate riding. I am running 27 Psi front and 36 Psi rear air pressure with the riding solo. Is it OK for a NS to return such figures?
Cheers

As a matter of habit. Read somewhere a long long time ago that even if you are in Neutral, always press the clutch when starting first thing in the morning. You think there can be a problem with this?Originally posted by christo View PostWhy do you pull the clutch to Start when you're in neutral?
