you mean 24th oct right? 24th nov hasnt come yet :POriginally posted by tejas1509 View PostHello Friends,
I bought my bike on 24th Nov and have completed 250 kms so far...
I am concerned about run in.. Not sure if i am doing it correctly.. I have 50-50% highway and city (City meaning completely 1st and 2nd gear driving). Also i am not looking at speed as limiting factor, I just concentrate on rpm. I drive in the range of 2.5k to 4k rpm and occasionally due to wrong gear switching and sometimes while pick up, i go to 4.5k - 5k RPM (due to pathetic lower end torque). Please guide me if i am doing anything wrong.
Also, this being my first two wheeler ever, I dont realise vibrations anywhere in my bike even though they migth be present
One good thing about P200Ns is that whenever i do some newbie mistake on road (like false neutral, engine stopping while pick up), People dont mind it.. they are busy checking out the bike \m/
even i got my NS on 24th oct but i have completed just 68 kms
complete city riding...
yes just ride normally...dont exceed 4K rpm during ridding..and yes the same thing happens with me too..bad low end torque(not too bad but can live with it) and some times due to a wrong gear shift or false neutral while shifting from first to second the engine goes to 5k rpm...
that isnt a big problem and wont affect your bike in any way...such issues happen in all bikes...even a frnd of mine who recently bought a dazzler has false neutral and the engine revs upto 5K rpm..
and it seems i share exatly the same things with you..ppl are so busy checking out the bike...i too am a newbie and many times leaving the clutch too early and stuff the engine stalls...
the only complains i have abt the bike is that the sensors used worked properly...so much petrol in d bike and still it shows reserve(restart electricals and the reserve light goes away)
and even though its a 200cc naked street bike bajaj has given poor low end torque which is a must for naked street bikes...pulsar 200ns is a bit confused bike...bad low end and a stronger high end makes it a non street bike but many memebrs say that the stability at higher speeds is bad and cross winds shakes the bike...so not even a highway mill...
someone even went on to say that the engine begs for a 7th gear....(i guess thats more of a shifting issue)
so it seems there is a bit of everything in the bike it it aint a master of any particular thing...
P.S i got 3 false neutrals in todays 3km ride back from college....its irritating...but even with so many niggles and issues...whch arent really a major thing i love my bike

..
I also face the Petrol indicator issue ..
Apart from that, Whenever there is slight uneven road (driving on the 10cm cement patch between two lanes of Eastern express higway) my bike sways to left.. very shaky and unstable at 50+ kmph.. I think this might be because of my riding style... or is it ?
But I can live with all these ...

Unstable at 50+ kmph, what is this,a moped?Go to the service center immediately.Originally posted by tejas1509 View PostYup 24th October

This is the case with current bike (NS) and also was with my older bike (p180)... I don't think its an issue.. If you ride continuously on bad patch or uneven bit of road how on earth will a bike not shake re??? That too @ 50kmph or more??...Originally posted by tejas1509 View PostYea, I have to go to get my centre stand fixed. Will ask to resolve this issue (like tyre wobbling..
)
Please confirm if I am wrong here or Tejas you meant something else!!!!!

i do not face any stability or bike swaying to the left a that speed....Originally posted by tejas1509 View PostYup 24th October

check if u have those counter weights on your rim...they i guess are imp for stability of the bike...
and anyways riding at a speed of 50kph on bad roads the bike is bound to be unstable....no bike will be stable at riding on bad roads...
another issue
The idle was about 1.65K or so i reduced it to 1.4K yesterday after riding for a while
today morning bike refused to start...it started after i gave it a little throttle and pushed the thumb starter...then increased the idle to 1.5K
in the afternoon i was cleaning my bike and was about to take it for a spin and again bike refused to start...increased the idle a bit b4 starting and throttled and pushed the starter...it started and again set it to 1.65K or so
and as usual when i engage choke bike doesnt start at all...
there seems to be some tuning issue....tommorow will check if the bike starts with one thumb push or no as the factory idle is set again and i have done no other changes...(tried to reduce idle speed but set it again at 1.6~1.7K where it originally was)
should i go to svc and tell them about the issue now if the bike starts normally or shud i wait till the first service as i dont have any problem riding...
the only problem is once in a while false neutrals and bad low end torque...at the speed of 20 or so if i am in 3d gear it feels the sprocket is trying to move forward but engine is resisting...and also since i have never owned a bike b4 i cannot guess or feel while riding if the A/F is rich or lean..
i too have to get the centre stand fixed in a few days...should i mention these issues or are they just not any issues at all and "vehem of my mind" and just wait for 1st service

You are absolutely correct in interpreting the conditions.. but then, why does the bike pull itself only to the left.. it is like some force pushing the bike in left direction..Originally posted by thegeneboy View PostI am confused here folks, feeling like tyre wobbling while riding on uneven roads or gaps/cracks/patch between lanes will be there.. There are counter weights.. I checked them during delivery of my bike... will check again... And the highways are not that bad at this point of year.. Ganesh chaturthi ensures all roads are in good conditions.. It is slight uneveness on the road surface (between two cement blocks) that is making my bike sway... maybe since i am not used to riding a bike, i feel it more....Originally posted by mayank.travadi View Posti do not face any stability or bike swaying to the left a that speed....

BTW the Blue NS is sexy... I wanted the blue color... dad did not allow
And it has been a very frustrating day at office... xbhp thread is the only interesting thing I ve done today....

many members have faced this..i guess they will be able to explain better....still u shud go to the SVC and ask them to rectify the problemOriginally posted by tejas1509 View PostYou are absolutely correct in interpreting the conditions.. but then, why does the bike pull itself only to the left.. it is like some force pushing the bike in left direction..Pulsar 200NS parts list

The low end is so as to help you ride effortlessly in the traffic . To feel the true power you need to shift at higher RPM's and trust me you will be amused .Originally posted by mayank.travadi View Postyou mean 24th oct right? 24th nov hasnt come yet :P

I just had a small input regarding the lateral movement during crosswinds. IMO this could possibly be due to the increased surface area for the wind to act upon. Experts to confirm if this could be one of the reasons..Last edited by arjun bharadwaj; 10-31-2012, 11:40 PM.Work to Ride - Ride to Work
