I have owned this Bumblebee of mine for 1k Kms... and will continue to do so for I don`t know how long...!!

You must have read the reviews, specs, expert opinions, etc., So, I will try to keep this as short as possible!

Pulsar 200NS (in the guy next door`s words): Handles almost like a FZ (according to me better than FZ), Power of a Pulsar (pretty powerful oner this!) and Brakes amazingly. So, that`s all a bike should do (basics atleast!)

      Getting into details:

Brakes - Safety (Roads are filled with idiots.. you know that!).. The Front has more bite and rear doesn`t... apply both with equal pressure with Engine braking... She slows down gracefully!

Engine - I still can`t believe my engine is 1k Kms old... Still the same silence and the grunt at 6k RPM... Yes, I broken into the Engine using Motoman Method (Don`t hold it against me.. I am not asking anyone to.. I just said I did it!).

Tyres - Stock ones are decent unless you drive in wet conditions, require harsh braking or both. I am happy with the handling, cornering and braking the stocks offered me so far. And yes, my front Tyre slipped once giving me a heart attack once (at 550 kms).

Did I miss out on anything important..?!?!

Vibes - Yes there are.. There will be some you will feel between 5k - 7k RPM... Hey, this is a Pulsar.. and what`s the point of riding a Sports bike without Vibes (now.. now.. don`t say Ninja, CBR and R1.. I meant Indian Sports Bike!).

TO sum it all up, I still am sticking to stock tyres, no mods or tattooing done (although I wanted a tattoo of Transformers on the tank!)

Changed to Motul 5100 15w50 through Bajaj SVC during first service, one gem of an oil... Super smooth.

Using Motul Chain Lube and 3M All-in-One Shiner.. Will post the pics asap!

@Shibadip and @Rahulbarik: How are your beauties doing?. Kebon aacho?!?! (It is bengali for how are you right?)
thanks govind, help appreciated and no offence but your bike is only 1K old, at this stage most bikes do not reveal their true colors so i'd prefer someone with 5K or + shedding some more light. The reason m asking these questions is coz a lot of people have told me that NS becomes extremely harsh after sometime, vibrates like crazy, entire bike rattles which was exactly the case with all my 220s, so just trying not to repeat the mistake. Still, thanks a lot man and others please too...do write your negative views abt the bike

        • Trip to Dalma Wildlife Reserve

          Hi Everyone,

Good Morning, Although I am following this thread since months now. Never was a able to post anything till date.
I am an avid biker and basically from kolkata, I was dying to buy this bike since june, however due to unavailablity in kolkata and unhelpful behaviour of the guys in kolkata bajaj showroom, could not really get the correct info regarding the launch and supply.

In the meanwhile, I have moved to Jamshedpur for official reasons and decided to buy 200NS here itself.
It cost me 5.5K cheapear here.

Got my yellow one, I named her Zaira (Princess) and yes I do treat her like a princess.
So, there is this friend of mine named Binil, he rode down on his R15 from kolkata and we planned a trip to Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, which is around 50 Kms from here.
It was the first time that I had taken Zaira on highways and trust me I was loving every bit of it.
Took some amazing pics, if any of you staying in kolkata or JSR want to ride to this place. Do get in touch, would love to go for another 1.

Its around 20 kms uphill ride after 30 kms on highway.

@Rossi_God : Personally... I rod the older Pulsar 200 for five years and the only "rattling" that I faced was a minor buzz from the tail section and that's it. There's no hiding the fact that Bajaj Pulsars are made on a very tight budget to give the most possible at the least possible. Just think about it, till date, a FZ or a Fazer costs as much as a P220, when with the 220 you are getting much better performance number. Why? Simply because if you are to up the quality, there has to be a price for it, and if Bajaj goes for the same quality as that of FZ and the Fazer, then even the 220 would cross the price of NS

So, the word here is maintenance. Simple DIY stuff of checking and tightening the bolts of the fairing, making sure that the things are lubbed properly that's it.

Also, I don't like the word "negetive" getting associated with motorcycle. There are no negetives with motorcycle, there are things which is like and then there are things which you would like to have an alternative for. For example, I so hate the horn, the "Cut-on" two piece handle bar etc. etc... so do I call that negetive?? Absolutely not. I'm riding the NS day in and day out, and I can vouch that it has one of the smoothest gear box, amazing handling even with the stock tyres, brakes like hand of God. There are vibes, but having ridden all Indian motorcycles, I can easily say that the smoothness of the NS comes just next to that of the first gen Unicorn with tripple the benefits. All of this and still I cannot connect with the NS as I did with the previous 200 and this is in no way negetive with the bike so to speak... it's my personal problem with getting used to and not the motorcycle

This started happening with me after the first service and I'm pretty sure that the root cause is the AFR. It's a bit too lean (all NS by default have a bit leaner AFR and during the first service I don't know why it's set to more lean). I'm pretty sure that setting the AFR to a bit rich would solve the issue.

            • The owner's manual says that the "Reserve Indicator glows continuously when the fuel reaches reserve level". In my case the indicator is continuously glowing (ofcourse because the fuel is nearing the the reserve level), but Im still running the bike with fuel knob at "ON" position without any problem. So does it mean that low fuel indicator glows continuously when nearing the reserve level as against reaching reserve level (as per manual) or is my low fuel indicator is a bit problematic. The fuel gauge still shows two bars though.

AFAIK...the light is indicative of low fuel not reserve, so I starts to glow when the sensor (which is not always accurate) senses that the fuel level is low.
I am an old school guy, and trust the knob more than the light...

I guess most of the points mentioned by @govind.one are valid even after 5k kms, nevertheless as you want I would add my 2 cents here:

My odo reading: 8700 kms as of today
                    Mileage i normally get : 32-35 kmpl.
My way of riding: mostly highways at speeds > 100 kmph and other than that off-roads.

                    My feelings about the bike:

                    1. The vibrations need to be taken care off, mind you the vibrations are major at 4-6k rpm in my case, but it doesnt become a rattle snake, and the vibrations are not crazy, atleast I wont term them as crazy. My opinion is that the vibrations are not a deal-breaker. I will happily ride my bike even if these vibrations remain after my 3rd servicing.
                    2. Horn is weak on highways.
                    3. Done 8700 kms on the stock tyres, I was planning to change them when they were 1000 kms old, but now I m more than happy with them, i have got used to them and they have got used to me. yes they are not very very good in wet, but I dont think any tyre is very good in wet conditions. And PSD is not suitable for off-roading i guess so didnt go for them.
                    4. It is a mini rocket, the way it accelerates gets you addicted to it.
                    5. After sales service is not 5* but you being a bajaj vehicle owner must be experienced with that.
                    6. The bike smiles at you when you ride it constantly at high speeds (in my recent ride I did 760 kms in 12 hrs inclusive of all breaks)

thats all for now.. hope it helps...

                    Cheers

                        Thanks.

It is 600kms on the ODO, I love my bike. I dont really agree with the people who have given a lot of negative review, I believe everything has got their sets of pros and cons, I would say I found more or good than bad.
No issues till now. Taking it for the first SVC today.
It does not vibrate at all for me on 60 to 70 kmph, I did feel it a lil on 90.

Right boss... Since you do quite a few Off-roading, so don't go for the tyre change. Even if you do, don't go for the soft compound tyres.
You say that tyres and you are both used to each other. Sounds romantic, but tell me post 5k, how many times did the tyre skid while panic braking??

I am less than 500kms on the odo, and the rear tyre has already skidded 4 times (once with pillion!!) during panic breaking. But during the last one I already knew that the tyre was gonna skid, and I was prepared to handle my bike in that manner.

if you have read this thread carefully, you may have noticed quite a few issues lot of people have reported. You can make a list of those tiny niggles and ask the showroom guys if the bike is going to trouble you the same way.
