PSR, we come to the forum to learn. It's a blessing that we have knowledgeable people who are here to share there knowledge, and equally enthusiastic people who want to learn and get best out of their steeds. Ignorance is Bliss!
You have the absolute, unquestionable and unquestioned right to do whatever you like on your bike if it does not harm others. But advising others to do it on their bike is different. And if you are correct, tuning of a carburetor itself is unnecessary.
My simple doubt is not yet cleared: How do you ensure that the air fuel mixture adjusted is for the maximum power if the adjusting is with a screw driver only?
As a reply to all your other arguments, I am quoting your own words: Ignorance is bliss.

Although I ain't that good at this tech stuff but just 2 cents from my side:-Originally posted by punarvasu View PostRahul,

1. Nobody here is ADVISING others to tune their carbs and going "Tune our Carb, Tune your Carb, Tune your Carb". Its the ride owner himself who comes up with the problem/query and is uncomfortable with factory settings. And definitely thats helping them without harming their bikes.
2. If not just the screw driver, would it have been fine with you if the SVC had been using a jackhammer to tune it with fancy plugs and tech?? Ultimately the SVC will do it with a screw driver and being all ears to the engine sound.
3. Yes IGNORANCE IS BLISS! This would have been true if everyone would have been adjusting the carbs without knowing anything. The guys come up here, get the details on what should be done, how should the bike perform post adjustment, etc. SO where is ignorance??? If you call knowing all these things and trying out and gaining knowledge, then I would definitely say IGNORANCE IS THE FINEST BLISS.
@punarvasu sir I or any other forum member doesn't have anything personal against you. We're just trying to prove it to you that a DIY isn't a DIY until you DO IT YOURSELF. And what would you say if a rider repairs his own tire after a puncture?? He could've gone to a tire shop wala instead and get his expert service from there.
@psr sir thanks for your advice. Keep it keeping

What else would you turn the afr screw with instead of a screw driver.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostRahul,

It is all trial and error in a diy. You cant get the right mixture until you try and test a couple of times. All you have to do is go on a test ride after every adjustment and see whether the bike redlines in every gear and is behaving as it should.
I have a slightly bent front disc and when I went to the service centre, the so called experts deny any problem even without checking it. After insisting on checking it, what they did was clean the disc pads, file them and refit them. That did not solve the problem and I will have to find some solution. I found the problem myself after checking every other possibility because no one even understood what the problem was.BreaklessBiker

guys its been 3k kms on these psd...Originally posted by ankur2smart View Postthx..will remember that during my first svc. So you going with which oil during first service?
Another thing i remember some one installing pireli sports demon tyres. Please please post the pic
before buying the bike, i decided i would go ahead with those babies
but only after 5k.
3 things that i noticed are
1) the bike loses its flick character.. The handle bar is no more fast to turn
2) with these tyres comes confidence and one can explore a p200ns truely, unlike the stock eurogrip wich always scared me at corners or wet roads or while harsh braking
3)after installing these the ns becomes much more hieghted...

i bet if the ASC manager or mechanic trained by the company, read and understand the number that shown in the digital tachometerOriginally posted by punarvasu View PostLet me say that most of the authorized service centers of any bike are using reliable digital tachometer and gas analyzer to tune the carburetor and it is done by the service centre manager or mechanic trained by the company. They are not relying the sparkplug color after riding 1000 or so kms after tuning to know how it is.
.
and regarding spark plug : in my case they are not ready to open the spark plug, may be they are scared about 3 spark

Help needed in buying
Hi, i am planning to buy this bike but have some doubts. Having owned a few P220s, i have faced a lot of problems like frequent head leakages, vibrations leading to noise from all over the bike and many more. Since we have 700+ posts here, can people please help me in mentioning the -ves of P200NS that the riders have noticed. It will be a great help in my buying decision. And yes, the positives too
All the help, much appreciated in advance.

Firstly.. Hi!Originally posted by rossi_god View PostHi, i am planning to buy this bike but have some doubts. I have owned this Bumblebee of mine for 1k Kms... and will continue to do so for I don`t know how long...!!
You must have read the reviews, specs, expert opinions, etc., So, I will try to keep this as short as possible!
Pulsar 200NS (in the guy next door`s words): Handles almost like a FZ (according to me better than FZ), Power of a Pulsar (pretty powerful oner this!) and Brakes amazingly. So, that`s all a bike should do (basics atleast!)
Getting into details:
Brakes - Safety (Roads are filled with idiots.. you know that!).. The Front has more bite and rear doesn`t... apply both with equal pressure with Engine braking... She slows down gracefully!
Engine - I still can`t believe my engine is 1k Kms old... Still the same silence and the grunt at 6k RPM... Yes, I broken into the Engine using Motoman Method (Don`t hold it against me.. I am not asking anyone to.. I just said I did it!).
Tyres - Stock ones are decent unless you drive in wet conditions, require harsh braking or both. I am happy with the handling, cornering and braking the stocks offered me so far. And yes, my front Tyre slipped once giving me a heart attack once (at 550 kms).
Did I miss out on anything important..?!?!
Vibes - Yes there are.. There will be some you will feel between 5k - 7k RPM... Hey, this is a Pulsar.. and what`s the point of riding a Sports bike without Vibes (now.. now.. don`t say Ninja, CBR and R1.. I meant Indian Sports Bike!).
TO sum it all up, I still am sticking to stock tyres, no mods or tattooing done (although I wanted a tattoo of Transformers on the tank!)
Changed to Motul 5100 15w50 through Bajaj SVC during first service, one gem of an oil... Super smooth.
Using Motul Chain Lube and 3M All-in-One Shiner.. Will post the pics asap!
@Shibadip and @Rahulbarik: How are your beauties doing?. Kebon aacho?!?! (It is bengali for how are you right?)sigpic
Drive Carefully...
It is not only the bikes that can be recalled by the maker!

Dear, few of my musings after reading the words surely not to hurt but to enlighten.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostThe questions, or more correctly the doubts, of mine still remain unanswered or uncleared and it was based on the graph you posted a few pages back too.
Let me say that most of the authorized service centers of any bike are using reliable digital tachometer and gas analyzer to tune the carburetor and it is done by the service centre manager or mechanic trained by the company. They are not relying the sparkplug color after riding 1000 or so kms after tuning to know how it is.
And the disclaimer that you are not responsible for any adverse effects due to screw driver tuning is, pardon me, illogical
As I said earlier, everyone gets whatever he deserves. This is what we call fate or destiny.
Once again thanks for finding out time to answer my query.
Regards best.
Last words first . what you do after getting up from bed. why do you take a bath? It is your fate that this body smells rotten after a day , nobody takes fate or destiny ,they take a bath and become fresh no??? In the same way the bikes are surely tuned from factory with all sophisticated analyzers. But remember one thing fuel needs oxygen to burn . The quantity of oxygen varies from place to place and seasons and times. So your Company in Pune tuning the bike will not give you satisfaction in a hamlet in Tamil Nadu or Kerala or Leh or Kashmir. Hope you are with me till now. What these people with their screw drivers are doing is fine tuning to adapt to the locality and to their satisfaction.
Along with fuel if we are providing oxygen in cylinders , nobody would re-tune their bikes .Company tuning would suffice. So as long as we are not doing it, it is best left to the wisdom of the respective biker .
I am a retired teacher In my career some students ask questions which makes us uncomfortable in front of other students. So the first thing we see is whether he /she is asking to know more or trying to expose us an ignoramuses and become more smart in front of others. If it is case No.1 we admit and tell we will ref. and give the answer later. If case No.2 we will drag him with questions to the spot that he cannot answer, thus will make him silent.....Where do you stand?"work for cause n not for applause". "live life 2 express n not 2 impress" ."dont strive to make ur presences noticed, just make ur absence felt".
