  • I got center stand @Rs.600 (Aditya Auto Spares) on special order and got it fitted for 40 bucks.
The great thing is that bike comes on stand with minimal efforts (Didnt expect).
But i am not confident to use it. It locks itself in vertical position :s and looks like even a small push can get it off the stand.
    Is that normal ?

Definitely getting a better feel from the bike and she's much more confident on rough roads. A worthy upgrade IMO.

      A small query-

A day after taking delivery, I went to the dealers where the mechanic adjusted the Idling RPM to around 1K. Facing frequent stalls at signals and even more so when trying to stay within the prescribed speed limits. Now I just keep her below 4.5K rather than micromanaging the speed. Is this okay? Any tips to avoid the stalls??

      Thanks!
next time when u start your bike raise the idle rpm screw a little and start..let it idle for a min..then go for a small ride...then stop and set idle at 1.5Krpm
1K is too low...if the mixture is rich a little less rpm is fine if the mixture is a little lean it requires a little higher idle

just ride normally..the speed limits given for running in are crap..the bike lugs when i shift at the given limits at 2nd and 3rd gear...

dont red line and dont raise throttle too quickly...
4K rpm is fine for running in according to me

so keeping idle at 1.5Krpm at hot engine is the only way to avoid stall

my friend actually showed this to me on my bike..he set the idle rpm low to about 1.2K and then started the engine..it started and stalled
raised the idle a little more and the engine didnt stall...

Guys i rode today for about 3km and the bike behaved perfectly..after completing my 3 hours exam on my way home i could smell something burning...
again stopped for half an hour chatting with friends and now i rode and smell gone...any idea about what can cause burning smell??

                • what is the best way to properly clean the NS at least once every week ? for the metallic parts like tank & tail ? So it retains it's shine & color. I'm currently using soft wet & dry cloth every now & then. haven't washed her once (afraid to do so, also must lube the chain after washing your bike, isn't it ?) I've got her teflon coated twice, last one was at 1st service. Still I feel I'm missing something that I need for regular cleaning.

What you are really doing by wiping like that is dragging the dust (particulate silicon) on the paint causing microscopic scratches euphemistically called swirl-marks . Teflon coating is a well known scam and is likely to damage the paint finish . Read what your owner's manual says about cleaning the bike . Usual recommendation is to clean with an ordinary mild detergent solution followed by buckets of plain water . You can use any good shining polish(non-abrasive) after that if you wish . And , yes do lubricate the drive-chain and other parts that need it afterwards .

                        • A brief review @ 800 kms on the ODO

Guys, I have completed 800 on the ODO and thought of writing a small review on the performance and ability of the bike. This is just a opinion post and I hope no one gets offended by it in anyway.

                          Performance:
800 Kms on the ODO is not a lot but from a performance point, I have witnessed quite a few changes after my first service (done @ 550kms). The bike has become smooth as butter, rev hungry and the throttle response has been awesome!! The maximum speed I have reached is 80 (mind you I am still in run-in period) and I keep hovering between 50-70. Gear shifting has eased a lot and has become smooth. Also, my bike has taken a liking towards my wife and behaves much better with her on the bike. The vibrations (explained later) are never felt and the engine sound is also bare minimum when I am driving her around.

                          Handling:
Just love the ability to flick through traffic and I have skidded only twice (have retained the stock tyres).

                          Vibrations:
This is something that cannot be taken out of a pulsar I guess. The tank, front faring, foot rest and the seats vibrate quite a lot between 3k-4k on the rpm. Once the bike crosses 4k, it is again smooth as butter. Also, I get these vibrations only after the bike has heated completely. Cold starts and a ride for the initial 15kms have no vibrations at all. I will ask the SVC to fix the vibrations during my second service.

                          On road:
This is a mixed bag, I have had people ask me from which country the bike is imported from before looking at the Pulsar logo (their face expression is worth a million dollars). On the other hand, lot of people provoke you for a drag on city streets. I have never done any street racing and will never do but I have had the R15's, apache's, baby CBR and even some phut phut bikes trying their best.

                          Other Problems:
The engine has the tappet noise that every pulsar has got. It is a faint noise but still is irritating as hell

                          Overall:
Just loving every aspect of the bike including the vibrations to an extent My only concern is the tappet noise and hopefully it will be solved during the second service

                          • i wante d pics of how the tyres look on pulsar and i was curious about upsizing tyre to 150/60 as they are of the same profile as that of 130/70 and so wudnt effect the performance of the bike.......

owners manual says nothing abut cleaning the bike.

people like me who are students and tight on budget what would you suggest?
living in a multi wing flat and crammped up parking space there isnt possibility to have personal water hoses to clean the bike...how to use car shampoos and clean the bike then? are these shampoos for only painted parts or non painted? coz NS has awfully less painted parts..just the tank, tank extensions and tail(well so do most of the bikes but still :P )

didnt know wiping out dust with a soft cloth causes swirl marks...i guess i should pretty soon get a good wax for the bike..

is car shampoo really necessary? what help does it do? cant a regular wet cloth routine work?

how is different sized tyre called tyre with same profile?

isnt it the size and thickness of the tyre the very meaning of tyre profile??

stick to stock..they are decent..else go for mrf revs or psds of same size...switching to fatter tyres will affect performance...dont know in a good or bad way but it will...expect mileage to take a hit and even lower top end i guess and a little less acceleration
