    • Yelagiri Solo Ride

My Second Solo ride : Yelagiri Hills

      Date : Nov 18 2012

Started the ride at 4:25 am , was back in Bangalore by 2:30 pm

Total Distance Covered : 370 kms

      Mileage : 43.7

      Route : Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Bargur-Tirupattur-Jolarpet-Yelagiri

Road condition : Exit from bangalore is awesome thanks to Elevated Expressway project. After hosur till shoolagiri, lots of patches and diversions. BTW the diversions are there till krishnagiri. From Krishnagiri to Bargur , 6 lane roads make it easy for you cover any time you lost in the ride. After that small 2 lane roads but well built.
The ride uphill was eye pleasing. With 14 hairpin bends , and very good roads even on the hills , Yelagiri pleases the biker in you.

Place : I had a very small time window to visit places , hence just visited Murugan Temple and Boat House, YMCA campus, but explored some aloof places. Found a rope climbing club but it was closed that day.

As the fuel was 4 Rs cheaper in Tamil Nadu did a tank full on my return journey !!

Some pictures taken during a ride, i have a humble point and shoot cam, so the pics can not do much justice to the place.

      ^^Elevated Expressway at 4:45 am

^^Most of the sign boards were in tamil , my tamil reading skills were put to good use. Thanks to SASTRA University, Thanjavur(my college) for that.
This milestone reads : Tirupattur 18 kms

      ^^The road to ascent

^^One of the 14 hairpin bends

^^It looked beautiful from the naked eye !!

      ^^Welcome to yelagiri boat house

^^ On My way back near Krishnagiri. I find my RevZ-S very sexy in this particular pic

I doubt that installing Horns will void anything. It's not a part of the warranty claim list.

Nice Job man! Neat clicks too!
I recently visited yelagiri, neat and a cool place for a short weekend trip.
On a overcast day the boating lake was blissful to be at

And by the way how did you get the "pulsar" words on the rear tyre hugger Yellow?

            • Hello Friends,
Please bear wid me fr a few mins and give your valuable advices on the queries below..

              1) In my previous post I have shared my FE of 22.5 kmpl which increased to 32 kmpl (calculated by reserve to reserve) after AFR tuning by SVC mechanic...was suggested by fellow NSians to calculate by Tank full method.
              following are the results.
First tank full....rode 70% HIghway 30% City got 32.38 kmpl
Second tank full...rode 100% city got 27.28 kmpl.
My bike has done 1490 kms as of now..
Doesn't my FE looks less as compared o fellow NSians who have reported to have got even 45 kmpl...i would be happy with 35 kmpl also in City....could somebody plz tell is the FE i m getting is OK or it should increase...if yes then how do I increase it.

              2) I bought my Bike in July 2012....still not completed Running-in as my run is very less..only 13 kms a day...i find reasons to hit the Highway...to finish off with running-in...is it OK for a less run per day

              3) I am also facing the Rattling noise from the font console like others....I also hear sound like that comes when u hav Steel keychain vibrating over steel handle...I think some nut came off inside the console...does any body feel such noise...

              4) When i am stationary and push the front forks in & out heavily with the front wheel locked by front brakes.....I hear a kink-u-kink-u-kink.....I hope u got it....what dat sound could be..also did anybody else felt the Same..

              5) The rear tyre pressure mentioned is 28.5...i wonder where can we get the pressure in decimals..as everywhere the pressure is set in whole nos. not a problem though...

              6) There is a sound when the Front brakes are applied...which I feel comes from the oil reservior...the sound is something like PPRRRRRRR, which is clearly audible on silent stretches...which came after First Service...and not there before...I presume there is a bubble in Oil reservior...Experts plz confirm....

              7) I am planning to get my seats laminated with plastic...(currently have the plastic seat cover of pulsar 150 dts-i....which does very well...but not very good looking).....as my bike is parked generally under a tree...and have to save from bird poop...any Suggestions.....welcome

              8) The front footpegs...feels like in sometime it wud get inverted...just a plastic is holding it in place..wen dat plastic gives away...we would have problems...(there is a plastic insert on the bottom side of the footpegs)

              9) Have anyone tried to change the colour of the backlights of the switches...which is blue....I want to change that to White.....plz help...

              10) One thing I have noticed that it is very easy for someone to remove the rear disc pads...isnt it bad...I have checked on other bikes like CBR 150..and it cud not be removed without any tools.....but in NS you can remove with your key also...jst hav to lift 2 pins..

              11) Can we remove the scratch on the Tachometer glass...i have one since day one...dint checked that before delivery....and when I went back...u know wat they would have said....

              12) Advice for all....I recently bought a Black synthetic enamel paint.and a thin brush..like the one we used in school days....and finely painted all places where rust was showing...trust me after a day wen the gloss reduces u wont get to know dat u painted....fine touches done mainly in places like adjuster of Rear shock absorber...side stand..main stand..front forks...front no. plate holder..saree guard..etc..

              13) One more thing noticed during my recent visit to Bajaj Showroom dat the new NS's rear footpegs are not good quality...dey dont make tik-tik sound when closed or opened like mine..i think they started cost cutting and going for vendors who offers fr less...

Too much for d day......Thanx for reading.....

I dont always get time to ask this much.......making most of the opportunity

              • Hey All, Getting my ride on Saturday so just bumping my earlier request for Name of Dealers in Thane/Mumbai where I can swap the tyres (and also include the cost if possible). Not sure between PSD and MRF's but probably will go to Pirelli as I dont mind the tyre wearing out faster if it has a noticeable edge in grip!

                Thanks,

Great, i will check with my service centre. I don't think battery will be issue atleast in normal usage...I had asked while buying bike if i can change my horn, they said no. I should have asked if i can change to p220's.... Anyway waiting for pics and vid..

Another thing yesterday was checking out p220 horns... when u disconnect one horn, the other one sounds like the one on ns...So i think just adding one horn of different note will make it similar to p220.. What do u guys think?

wondering about the exact same thing
can we just buy 1 p220 horn and install it in the NS along with the existing horn..??
i really hate the horn...sounds like a torn up horn...

                      • i have bought one 220's horn at 157 rs and with the help of svc mechanic fixed it on leg guard, along with stock horn it does sound like dual horn.

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

                        • Hello all NSian,

I am new to this forum and this is my firsr post but following this forum from last month. I bought my NS on Dusserra last month and now it has been due for first service. Will get it done on this Sunday. I am already around 1000 on odo. I know I am late and hope they won't create any issue taking my bike for service. Actualy couldn't spare time and thought of going last Sunday but unfortunately last Sunday Mumbai was Band. (Btw I live in Navi Mumbai). Has anyone here having experience of Raigad Bajaj svc, Panvel? Can anyone suggest good mechanic over there? Also suggest some other better svc in Navi Mumbai . I had bought my bike from Raigad Bajaj Panvel and got dilievery from KTM showroom in Vashi. I have been told that first service must be done at Panvel svc only. Btw I have following issues which I want tobe rectified during service.
1). Bike swaying towards left if I lift my both hands from handlebars
2). Some sound coming from console just like keychain is vibrating on steel surface. Others are also facing same sound
3). Feeling lots of vibrations on tank area. I hope the guys at svc are knowing about rubber gasket and put them wherever required.
4). Gear shifting has an issue. It is getting stuck many times. Not smooth as before.
5). Idle speed is not constant. When I start for the first time in morning then it is ideling at around 1300 rpm but after running bike idle speed reach upto 1750-1800 rpm. Is it normal or any issue is there. In my old pulsar 150 (2003 model), idle speed was constant at 1000 rpm.
6). Want main stand. Hope it will be available there.
Other than these issues my bike is running very fine and giving me mileage between 40 to 50 kmpl. Measured using reserve to reserve method.

Similar issues have been discussed in this thread, u can search if u have the patience to. Front wheel balancing needs a check, vibes in the console is cuz of the plastics, mite get less with time, but might not be completely eliminated. Tank vibes has been a issue, hopefully everyone gets the new rubber gasket sooner. Gear shifts should be fine after svc & oil top up. The new systems involved in the bike rates the idling acc/to the ride quality, so if ur revving hard through the city, it automatically maps to a higher idle rev. It levels down after sometime of rest period. Old ones didn't have this kinda tech.

                            • Thanks Roy for your reply. So idling speed varying is not an issue. Sorry. Didnt know about this new technology. Thanks for updating. Hoping for the resolution of all other issues during first service. Will update you all regarding my experience of first service.

first of all welcome to xbhp.
i have done my 1st servicing at 1034 km,and made them to write 632 km on free coupon.
now coming to your problems bike swaying to left is a genetic problem with ns.
