    • The mechanic at SVC over tightened the screw on the console, resulting in a cracked sleeve. The screw is not staying tight after it. They managed to keep the console together with the help of some double sided tapes. When I asked the service manager about it, I got an arrogant reply that they are not responsible for low quality parts and no replacement will be there since it was not present during PDI. What to do? Will I get it replaced under warranty? I'm done with these people...

Lubing the chain is not enough.... Here is what I do...

            1. Clean the Chain with some chain Cleaner (3M chain Cleaner Preferred )....
            2. Use a Cloth or brush to clean the chain (remember to use a cloth that shouldnt leave anything behind)...
            3. Once all the dirt is gone.... lube it...

Any other alternative to chain cleaning as I forgot to buy Chain cleaner and I doubt I will be going there any time soon
I thought of using some kinda detergent for cleaning but as per my research on net, that is not the best way it seems. Is it true?

You can use diesel to clean the chain (Please confirm it from someone else.)

Yeah...diesel is good for chain cleaning...
Use it with a tooth brush...dip the tooth brush in diesel & apply on the chain & sprocket to remove the dirt...

As Surojit said, 1s clean the chain. Diesel is best, if u don't have Chain Cleaner. However, i use the 2nd best available, i.e Kerosene.
1st make the chain warm, by riding a little bit. use a brush and apply diesel/kerosene all over the chain religiously, and keep it like that for abt 10 min. Then use a cloth to wipe out all the dirt. Make sure chain is properly cleaned, and there is no diesel/kerosene left over. (otherwise t will eat away the lube as well.)
Then apply the lube nicely all over the chain - on the inner-side of the chain(vertically; as the centrifugal force while riding will take the lube to the outer side), and on both sides (horizontally)
                    sigpic

                    • OK the bike is almost 3 weeks old now and I've done 750kms on it, touched 80 and the bike does it fairly easily and the engine is really quiet and hums at that speed with 0 vibrations in 6th gear, but as soon as I let the accelerator go the bike starts to vibrate a bit as it starts loosing speed. Anybody else with this?
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

Please don't use diesel/kerosene on your O ring chains. Its not good for the O rings. We had a session on Chain Maintenance by Venkat Shyam Sir( Service Director, Auto Service). He clearly mentioned to avoid diesel and such stuff for cleaning the chain. The rubber O rings get de-shaped and hence their purpose is nullified.
I use the 3M 4 way cleaning spray and 3m Wet sprayable grease.
You can get Motul Chain Clean as well for cleaning purposes.
ATGATT! There are many wonderful riders/drivers out there who would intrude in your riding space without any notice. Be prepared. Stay Safe.

I have been using diesel for the past 5+ years on my o-ring chains and my chains last the usual amount!

Diesel/Kerosene is perfectly fine to use on O-Ring chains, its petrol/WD40 which is unsafe.

Plus diesel is wayyy more cheaper than a spray on cleaner.

                          • WD-40 is controversial....some swear by it...and many simply reject it...but mostly i have seen those who support have used it and their chain seemed to last good...and those who are against it have no personal experience or practical proof whatsoever that it is bad....i did read of an experiment that the orings expanded more on exposure to kerosene or diesel than wd-40.

however most SVCs use diesel to clean...

Now as per my 2hours research on chain cleaning, I found out almost every method suggested chain cleaner for cleaning part & also said it's totally fine to use diesel or kerosene. Now many are saying they already use diesel n kerosene to clean their bike's chain Now what shall I do???

Well as far as rules are considered, they are not liable if anything happens to your bike during the process of Service. However, this is a case real negligence fro the service mechanic. First try to get the matter solve at that particular service station, then you can always shoot a mail to customer care. Remember in the mail to mention the name of the manager & further details of the SVC.

Most importantly, pray they listen to your query
