  • HAHA...car jack nice way..btw if u want a very cheap juggad search in youtube about chain lubing without centre stand where a guy takes a wooden log to lift the rear wheel :P

i dont know if the center stand scraps the road while cornering...i dont think it will but the major advantages of center stand are

-chain lubing cleaning and puncture fixing on rear wheel
-to protect bike from fall if bike is on center stand and an idiot sits on it and puts too much pressure that it falls
-the exhaust doesnt bang on speed breakers

1)If you do not want to fit a center stand for your bike (be whatever reason),you could either buy a Paddock/Race stand OR get one made at your local garage as per the dimensions of your bike.

2)If you are too lazy to do any of the above, and if you own a Car, you can even use your Car's jack to get your rear wheel off the ground(this is what I do).
But beware,I use the Car jack only while I lube my chain, while the bike is turned off.

3)You might be wondering where on the swing-arm should you mount your Car jack...,well if you have a Scissor jack/Bottle jack/Floor jack, you could mount it on the exhaust clamp(just below the rear mono-shock),if you have two of those, you could mount it on either side of the swing-arm(where the chain adjusters are).

4)That exhaust clamp wont break or bend, don't worry!

5)For lubing your chain, don't forget to spray the lubricant on either side of the chain links. You will surprised to know that, the service center guys working on your bike will lube your chain only on one side,i.e the easily accessible side. You will have to do the harder work yourself.

PS: I personally use Motul products in both my Bikes and my Cars.,be it Chain Lube and Cleaner,Radiator Coolant,Fork Oil,Engine Oil,Brake Fluid,Greases, etc.

Hope these tips come in handy to you folks.

      Cheers!
Yeah, Me agree too about the lubrication part.
      Nice tips btw

I dont find the perfect tuning but i do get a good tuning which makes the bike smooth, gives decent power everywhere and returns good FE... After tuning i check it by ripping the bike and there is a sudden spike of power at 7k rpm....i start from lean and make it richer by close to half turn after every run until i get that spike and find it noticeable.... I figured out that its the sweet spot for the engine.... Gives mileage, power and smoothness.... Try it
      Awesome, would definitely try that..

while tuning is definetly an art and take lot of practice and trials and tests but what i found most suitable for me is that go to the SVC for a service and tune it for 1.5-1.8% CO which is the perfect tune and no need for testing and trials....the tune has good acceleration and good FE and good power...its the point for perfect tune for a petrol IC engine(as psr sir has told us on this thread and on this forum many times)
also this tune has helped better cold starting..

Well, that is a tricky query. The pull out the odo wire on the TD bikes so that it's not recorded. But it can be identified. The sound of the engine will be different from the ones that have been ridden for a 100kms or so. If u can make out through that, then no issues. But that's not really easy. Another thing, if anyone have noticed pls confirm, that the fresh engine, will give out a smell, burning kinda smell when u've ridden it for a couple of kms. Probably after revving the engine for sometime at low & high too. If u get that, then that's not a TD bike for sure.
Other small things to check on are the tyres. They will look fresh.
The plastic covers won't be torn at some places, they'll do it in front of u if u'd like. Not always the case though, so not really reliable fact.
Check the foot-pegs & paddles. They r mostly clean w/o any dirt or anything if not a TD bike.
The chain slackness will be pretty tight & Good, that is the give away on the doubt if they forget to do so to a TD bike being given away.
Can't recollect anymore for now, hope other Members here would have things to add & help u too.
            All the best...

            • +1 to above

also check for dirt under the mudguards

a new bike wont have much mud stuck there..

best way would be to ask them to allow u to select a bike from the warehouse they stock the bikes

my bike is now tuned by the svc in 2nd service....adjusted the co at 1.7%.... i am not at all liking it.... my co was earlier at around 4%.. it may sound rich but bike was running just super awesum with seperb mileage at 4% co... moreover my mileage was amazing too.. continuously returned 47-48 at speeds around 80kmph on highway and returned a mind boggling mileage of 68kmpl while returning....yes its 68kmpl.... @sayank10 was with me that day... i even came home and called up @shibadip to tell him about what happened....

Any bright colour will tend to fade out over long run(I have a bright green bike no not the ninja, it's a honda twister :P) , but you can take good care of it by polishing it every 2 months preferably by yourself with something like formula 1 wax or something similar and the colour should stay as good as new for a much longer time. Keep the bike covered and away from direct sunlight. The blue looks a little dull in my opinion any way and so does the red colour, but not as much as the blue one.
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

It's just one shade. & M not sure if it fades off, no one yet has made it to that period for obvious reasons, so can't judge anything there.

Wow... Interesting... Well I believe it cuz I was able to achieve a 72kpl on my LS while heading to B'lore a couple of times. Not sure but I did get it tuned in the service just be4 making that trip, speeds between 75-90kmph. But to call off the CO% accurately, did u get it checked after tuning at the svc ???

4% CO?! 68 kmpl mileage?! Everything about you and your bike is extreme! glad to know about your mileage figure even with a rich mix. I manage 40 km/l with sane riding on weekdays (mostly college and back) and insane rip sessions on weekends. Oh yeah, My NS welcomes everything with happiness. That's the thing that makes me love my bike so much! <3

Personal opinion - the blue looks so damn good on the NS. Sometimes I feel the bike was built to be in this colour! Especially after I'm done giving a good polish, I'd find myself coming to the verandah every now and then just to admire her beauty!

I've seen the bike in blue too. I don't, not like that colour, but it's personal opinion yeah...

The yellow is metallic. It is just the light not the fading of color. The yellow sparkles under sunlight and during the night under street lights, at night the yellow is really beautiful. But during cloudy days and dull light it looks like the color of a auto rikshaw.

BUT I love the yellow on this bike. makes the bike stand out in the crowd and screams of its presence.

There is no reason to avoid a test-drive bike . If anything, the test drive bike shall be well tuned, have a very good & smooth engine and very less possibility of any defect . Just do the usual checks when you take delivery and you'll be fine . Best wishes .
