Frnds,I have done 3000kms on the ODO.The manual says the 2nd service needs to be done at around 4000-4500 kms..but yesterday i got a call from the showroom i bought the bike from..they said that the bike needs to get serviced for the 2nd free service within 4 months from the purchase date that is tomorrow..otherwise it will not remain a "free" service..Is it true ? Would someone confirm this please..

according to the manual..u need to get the first free service withing 30-45 days of buying the bike or 500-750kmsOriginally posted by NS_Fan View PostFrnds,I have done 3000kms on the ODO.The manual says the 2nd service needs to be done at around 4000-4500 kms..but yesterday i got a call from the showroom i bought the bike from..they said that the bike needs to get serviced for the 2nd free service within 4 months from the purchase date that is tomorrow..otherwise it will not remain a "free" service..Is it true ? the next 2 free services need to be done within the first 8 months of buying the bike(240 days)
so get the first service at month 1
second service at month 4
third service at month 8
if u fail to do your remaining free services within the 8 months of date of purchase you will lose the free service..
there is no restriction of within 4 months the 2nd service should be done but the 2nd and 3rd free services should be done within first 8 months of date of puirchase so you can safely go for the service now...Pulsar 200NS parts list

I saw that . That it's mostly fiber . That has an advantage to it - plastic panels are cheap and meant to be easily just replaced when worn . So 5-6 years down the line you can just buy the whole set of plastics for the NS and make it new againOriginally posted by mayank.travadi View Postthe whole tank, tank extensions tail everything is fibre...only the frame and engine and other vital components are metal
so wax does no good on painted fibre parts??
.
Wax is useful on painted metal etc because it closes up micro-pores on the paint and forms an protective layer on it to prevent water dust etc . Plastics are non-porous and impervious to natural elements to begin with . So while waxing it isn't harmful , it's unnecessary work too .
Even dashboard polish is meant for interior use in cars . Used externally on bike parts , more dirt seems to settle on them than without . I have it , but nowadays just use the silicone liquid shine instead on the black plastics too . Works great !
Yah , use any shampoo or detergent as you please , diluted in water . You missed a mug that you'll need to splash water on .
Yes , the words polish and shine etc are used interchangeably (wrongly) everywhere .Very difficult to differentiate while buying which is abrasive polish . Good companies like motomax(pidilite) says that on the label(and I thank them for being informative to the customer) - one of their polish is mildly abrasive . On using an abrasive polish on a painted car for example , you'll find that the cloth used for buffing shall take on the same colour as the car .
In a covered parking bike shouldn't gather much dust while drying - if it does at your place , cut the drying time by using sunlight .
Not all units of the same bike achieve exact same speed , there are many other factors involved too . Your bike is doing just fine and is in normal range of speeds achievable for this model . It shall improve with more running too . Why are you bend on spoiling it for those extra 7kmph that some unknown guy claimed on youtube ?Originally posted by jenimu_kanna007 View PostAs by bajaj the pulsar 200ns shoul acheive top speed of 136km/hr my bike acheiving only 133 @9200 rpm like to get top end above 140 kmph many video in youtube they are acheiving . is there any modification that would help me to get good top end . with this 200cc monster with 23.5 bhpLast edited by Pinaki; 11-28-2012, 03:47 PM.

wow..didnt know using abrasive polish does that..i'm never going to buy such a thing...
oh yes i had mug in mind but i guess forgot to type...
yes my friends keep telling me..if ur bike falls or u have a scratch or u need to replace stuff no worries for you...fibre parts are cheaper than metal parts...
well my bike is always under a garage cover(the bike is parked in open) but a lot of dust settles on the garrage cover and while removing the cover a little dust falls on the bike.
thanks again for the valuable info..will get a good polish non abrasive(i guess motomax car polish is non abrasive but bike polish has abrasives)
i had 1 more query
do u need to polish/wax/shine everytime after a wash or may be once in a month?Pulsar 200NS parts list

Wanted to get the first service over and done with so took the beast today to Tungarli Lake, Lonavala. 190 KM round trip with 10 min breaks every 30-40 KMs. Top speed attained 90KMPH (for exactly 1 sec lol), Averaged at arnd 50KMPH keeping the upper revlimit arnd 5.5K rpm with gear shifts every couple of minutes.
Had done 250 KMs on the odo and wanted an oil change. the Bajaj service center was closed so changed oil to Castrol GTX 20w50 SAE (will change again at service)
She was smooth as silk and effortless.. a bit grumpy on the ghat sections but that is more likely my limited experience with the twisties. Had planned to click lotsa pics but the excitement of the ride didn't really let me :P
And, as I reached back home, the service icon lit up.. Mission Accomplished!
But truly, one of the best experiences, she really makes you feel one with the road.
PS: about the tyre - The rear Sport demon Handled Excellently even on the offroad section up to tungarli lake.. Not one skid or loss of grip. But it is a puncture magnet, had to remove three during the trip, mainly cos there was an accident on the old highway and had to pass through glass and metal shards which was lightly spread all over the road; couldnt avoid it at all even though I was very very careful
All in all, Beautiful, Awesome, amazing, and made me thank god and Xbhpians for helping me reach the decision to get this babe home!!

It depends on how many kilometers you have done on your motorcycle. But since your in your case it isn't much, there wont be permanent damage as such.Originally posted by vinais View PostOh sh-## this guy is n experienced mech n he assured me it was for bikes. ?
But do change the oil as soon as you can.
FYI: Here's the link to that particular oil that you have used;
Checkout the description as well as the category in which it has been listed(i.e Passenger Car Oil).
It is pretty much a CAR oil.Last edited by rossyamaha46; 11-29-2012, 01:08 AM.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take...,

The steps I follow are as follows :Originally posted by broken87 View Postwhat is the best way to properly clean the NS at least once every week ? for the metallic parts like tank & tail ? So it retains it's shine & color. I'm currently using soft wet & dry cloth every now & then. haven't washed her once (afraid to do so, also must lube the chain after washing your bike, isn't it ?) I've got her teflon coated twice, last one was at 1st service. Still I feel I'm missing something that I need for regular cleaning.
1. Clean the bike with a wet cloth first or just use something to shower your bike with water.
2. Clean the bike with a clean dry cloth & make sure that you remove any water stain.
3. Use a polish ( I personally use Waxpol : 100 bucks , 100 gms ).
4. After 10-15 mins remove the haze while turning the cloth occasionally.
5. Use parachute hair oil !!

Seriously , use it on black coloured components all over the bike..put lots of drops of the coconut oil on a cloth and clean the perimeter frame , the primary tyre hugger ( the one which protects the monoshock ) , the front fender , exhaust assembly , RVMs , etc...
The Tank & rear portion is painted AFAIK...the tank extensions , headlight assembly , front fender is sticker job...visit a car or bike accessory shop, they must be having the microfibre cloth...Originally posted by mayank.travadi View Posthuh? tank, tank extensions, tail and under tail area are the only areas in my bike which have "blue" color...do u mean the whole bike is just stickered?
how can the tank and tank extensions and tail be NOT painted?
PS. now where do i get this microfibre cloth?? any brand?
A free flow exhaust...remove all useless weight from the bike like the tyre hugger , saree guard , mud guard extension on front fender ,etc...better lubricants & oils...etc...depends on how much moolah you are ready to shed for it...Originally posted by jenimu_kanna007 View Postk... its any other modification that can help to acheive top speedLast edited by nishant.sukharia; 11-29-2012, 01:12 AM.

for point 5, i use liquid shoe polish for black parts.... I mix liquid shoe polish with a tarpin oil and then apply it....it basically gives a paint coating over itOriginally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostThe steps I follow are as follows : 1.
