HELP NEEDED - Rims bend
Today morning, i took out my 200NS, but felt something weird in Handling it. When saw the front tyre, it was almost Flat. Took it to a pump to fill in air. After i came back, I tried to find any leak by pouring water. (Since there was no visible puncture)
Found some very tiny bubbles coming out from the side of the rim. The leak is very small (kind of chora leak) and i think it will take days to completely leak out the air.
As of now sealed it with chewing gum
!!..
But what sud i do next?? SVC will be closed tomorrow. Should i wait till monday, as i think the air will held by monday..
And if the rims needs to be changed, can i claim insurance on that?? Some of my Friends are telling to fully destroy the rim to claim insurance. Otherwise they won't Accept the claim. But why is it that the insurance wont fulfill my claim unless the rim is totally destroyed?? If going by that theory, then i shoud be getting it replaced under warranty, right?? Coz if insurance doesn't accept, then it means it did not happen due to accident, and that is Actually a manufacturing defect. Right..
Who all are telling to fully damage the rim to claim insurance, pls can u tell me in detail about what insurance co accepts and what they doesn't accept..
(PS - I am very surprised/shocked to see the rims getting bend, as I didn't got through any potholes or any such thing in last few days)

Yeah...the svc guys kinda screw the bike...When I gave my NS to them for a free check-up , they screwed the Idle RPM & the bike was stalling every time I let my hands off the throttle...Originally posted by ankur2smart View PostThat means that something was not done correctly during second service. BTW can you please mention your problems?
Next time I'm gonna tell them not to touch anything around the engine compartment
Just take it to the SVC & get it checked...Originally posted by Shibadip View Post

post a pic dude & 1st confirm whether you need to change the rims or not. I would vote for not to do that to your rims.Originally posted by Shibadip View Post

I got my own Rims replaced cause they were damaged in accident, claimed insurance yes. but that was reasonable. but think .. if you destroy the Rim yourself in a questionable way & then claim insurance, what you gonna tell the Insurance surveyor ? That you took a hammer & did that by yourself lol ? see, you have to have a story ready to tell & write to the Insurance company & surveyor (I think you'll do this right at the SVC as I did)Originally posted by Shibadip View PostToday morning, i took out my 200NS, but felt something weird in Handling it. If you really want the front Rim to be replaced under Insurance money.. which costs like 1800 something.. just take a hammer & slam it on the Rim side, make it unusable.. then tell the Insurance guy that a pothole or stone did this. He can't question that. And when the Insurance surveyor verifies & accepts your claim request, he will ask for the OLD Rim to be destroyed in front of him.. while the NEW Rim is installed in your bike under Insurance money. You will have to pay for it, Insurance company will send a check in few days. But mind you stuff like Tyre Rims are sometimes not readily available at the SVC. Might have to wait a week or two as they put it on order. So don't destroy it right away. And Warranty ? hmm I don't think this kind of stuff counts under warranty ? does it ?
You know your Rim may actually be fine so don't rush. Take it to SVC when it opens, or just try a local Tyre Puncture shop tmr. It's just Rim/Tyre so you can allow a good local mechanic to check on it. Just my advice.Last edited by broken87; 01-13-2013, 01:06 AM.

Only reason u should completely destroy the rim is to get a fully new replacement rim...Else by claiming insurance, they may ask to repair the bend which is not 100% perfect...Anyway go to service ask them what to do...Better check service, hopefully ur rim isnt bend....Originally posted by Shibadip View Post

Even I agree. Instead of rushing in, take it to a mechanic or SVC first. BTW if you don't use your insurance for a long time then Insurance co. provides you bonus during renewal timeOriginally posted by broken87 View PostTake it to SVC when it opens, or just try a local Tyre Puncture shop tmr. Yup, i rember ur case.. But ur's was a reall Accident.. And the effects of that cud be clearly seen.. But in my Case, there is a miniscale leak, and there is no signs that the wheel has run over a pot hole or something!!Originally posted by broken87 View PostI got my own Rims replaced cause they were damaged in accident, claimed insurance yes. but that was reasonable. but think .. if you destroy the Rim yourself in a questionable way & then claim insurance, what you gonna tell the Insurance surveyor ? I know that . it's called no Claim bonus. But if the Cost of the rim (Approx 2K) surpasses the NCB, then it's Always better claiming the insurance..Originally posted by ankur2smart View PostEven I agree. No benefit in putting up a pic.. As i said, he leak is miniscule.. and the rims (if bend) can't be made out from naked eye.. Even touching it also, one cant feel..Originally posted by ankur2smart View Postpost a pic dude & 1st confirm whether you need to change the rims or not. I would vote for not to do that to your rims.
Only when i pour water, then very little micro bubbles are coming out from the side of the rim. But the bubbles Are Coming out constantly. From morning to evening the tyre lost 8PSI !!

Btw after keepin correct tyre pressure, does it ride normally, if it does, then tyre mechanic can get repaired cheaply and effectively.....May be after ur tyre became flat, it hasnt sit properly after pumpin air..so it hasnt sealed rim correctly...I think something like slime will be used to seal it, though not sure..Originally posted by Shibadip View PostNo benefit in putting up a pic.. Yup, with adequate air pressur, the bike Handles the same as before...Originally posted by smrutisourav View PostBtw after keepin correct tyre pressure, does it ride normally, if it does, then tyre mechanic can get repaired cheaply and effectively.....May be after ur tyre became flat, it hasnt sit properly after pumpin air..so it hasnt sealed rim correctly...I think something like slime will be used to seal it, though not sure..
BTW the tyre bacame flat due to the leak na.. So it was already present from before, i guess!!
So what do you suggest, should i show it to a tire mechanic tomorrow, or take it to SVC on Monday??sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

K&N KT-1211can the filter can be fitted to pulsar 200 ns or the K&N R-1100 thats the conical filter
which is best and can be fitted to pulsar 200ns
