  • Hi friends, this is my first post. I got a call from my local dealer that my bike has to be sent to the service centre as company has sent some modifications.
the person could not explain what exactly is going to be done. Due to my busy schedule I have sent my driver to the service centre. Any idea what's going to be done?
my other query is that I find the pick up in second gear very less, I mean if I need to slow down for any reason I have to put the bike in first gear to move ahead, is it normal ??

Oh crap!! Actually even I had this doubt that what if I have to put my foot down on bad roads and stuff.. and I guess you are right…. But I really really like this bike…. … and yes even I felt that the bike is heavy(during the test ride)… I live in Bangalore so normally roads are fine…. But hell its India.. one will end up on a bad road eventually.. .. My hands are pretty strong but still I guess it will be too much of a risk...
Well is there any other bike which you could suggest me in this case…. ( please don’t say Avenger ..)…

Actually last week I took test ride of NS but one cannot make out everything in just 2 mins... Although, I did notice that only my toes were touching the ground .However, If I put one foot on the brake peg then I was able to put my other foot flat on the ground. This made me wonder that will this affect my bike handing or not?
And yeah one more thing..... Is any friend of your having rust issues with this monster?

well my svs is kind of requesting me to put an extra horn for good... haha... well if you dont like the horn, tune the existing one to make it louder... it becomes damn loud and sharp
        +100 @rahulbarik.
I'm 5' 7" too and I find it slightly difficult to balance it at speeds as low as 3 km/h in traffic. Can't reach both my feet COMPLETELY on such kind of movement, only toes. But never has it been dangerous. Besides, mine's a hard suspension setting so the saddle's higher than normal. Riding the ktm once in a while after extensively riding the NS feels like riding a luna on steriods. I can't help asking my friend "why the hell is it so small?!" In either case, normal riding above 10km/h wont be affected. Very slow speeds have to be done with caution.
And of course, no rust issues.

Btw, is oks chain lube good? And over time and kms, my tappet sound has increased. The svc guys casually put it off as normal and there should be no problems with a 4valve engine, even with tappet sound. I can't adjust the tappet settings by myself. I had asked this a few pages before and also gotten a reply in the positive but now the sound has increased considerably. What should I do? Is the svc guy right?
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Normally NS200 is bad on low end torque, you have to be on lower gears to be in right motion hence leading to frequent gear changes!!

On weekdays I need the bike to go to office (around 6 kms with hell lot of traffic) whereas on weekends I need it for bike trips etc. So, will it be a problem to manage this bike in traffic as it has a very heavy handle (compared to P150) & a bigger turning radius??

I am li'l less than 5'7" and I have no major issues riding the bike. You got to learn to tilt towards one side and put one leg firmly, thats enough. Only problem happens when the place where your leg lads, if theres a ditch, or big slop then you can be in trouble. Till date i have experienced it few times, had fallen 2-3 times. But its OK with me.

But its a matter of convenience. Ride the bike yourself and see if its OK with you or not.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

I completely agree with you bro that it’s a matter of convenience but when I took test ride of the vehicle….I was able to manage it pretty well but as I mentioned before, only my toes were touching the ground.. So again the only question in my mind is what to do if I have to put my foot down in case of a pothole ???... Moreover, don’t you think this condition would be worse with someone sitting on the pillion ….
I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with this….

I have been following this thread from quite a while now. I have few queries and I will be really thankful to all of you if you could clarify them.

1)My height is 5 7’. Will it be enough for me to ride Pulsar 200NS safely & comfortably?
2)Can I reduce the height of the bike by adjusting the shocker settings? If yes, then will it affect my handling or comfort?
                3) As some of you have pointed out that there are certain issues like the bike swayes towards left, vibrations around the foot peg & tank region, trouble during gear shifts, Colour fading, Rust in parts etc. Are these issues serious or they can be taken care of without much of a trouble? As pointed by some people, is it true that initial batch of NS came with some problems but now the new batches are much better & problem free??

                1) &
                2) Well 5'7" seems just below the required height for this beast. It's not like you can't do it but there will be a problem when you have to put your right foot on brake pedal and foot peg and your left foot on the road and there is a pothole on rode or mud or water accumulated just below your foot position. In rest cases, you'll be fine. There are some slight adjustments in height by mono-shock but that won't do good for you. So search something else as per my opinion.
                3) My bike doesn't sway to left (not as i have felt) but what i have figured out from this thread that some riders have this problem, but it can be rectified. Vibrations, yes there are some vibes during high speed but as far as i know that Bajaj is fitting rubber grommets now in NS. i will go for the same as soon as possible. Coulour Fading - Didn't Hear from anyone, Didn't See. Rusting - heard once on this thread, Didn't faced.

Turning radius is more than normal bikes (compared to Pulsar 150) but Uski aadat pad jati hai..
Now the decision is totally yours.

                Hi,

Yesterday, out of nowhere, my bikes' coolant liquid started leaking. When i noticed it was gone almost completely. Some oil was also gone. I don't know whats wrong. The only unusal thing i did is i rode my bike at 80-100kmph for some 25 kms. Thats not the first time i did it though neither is it the longest stretch (have done 200km highway trip twice). Its mind boggling why it would happen.

Gave it to svc for repair and for second service as well as I am already at ODO 4800 kms. Its gonna take almost a day and half for repairs. The mechanic says nothings damaged, its only a stupid leakage and they are changing all gaskets and fittings. So i hope everything is OK.

Also I would like to confirm that Bajaj is indeed fitting those rubber grommets/packings to reduce vibrations to all NS by default. You don't even need to ask. It will be done during servicing.

I am also facing reduced power and not-so-smooth feel while driving at lower rpms like ~3000. NS surely runs smoothly for 2000+ rpm, but mine was not. It felt like lugging even at 3000 rpm. I though it might be clutch issue as my clutch is also loosened a bit. The svc guy said its carburetor issue. He will fix it.
Did they tell from where the oil was leaking??
About rubber grommets - can those be installed in my bike right now because I am far away from my second servicing?
keep posting after servicing about lugging issue.

They did.. I had to spend whole day yesterday at SVC... with 1-2 hr break. In the end the Old rims were broken in front of me & surveyor once they were off the bike & new ones had been installed. Pictures were taken etc. A total cost of Rs 5982/- had to be paid by me. Insurance will cover 100% & will send a check within 30-45 days. Surprisingly both front & rear tires are OK & didn't need changing. Bike was ready by 6 pm. Though still there is something making a constant noise in the rear wheel. Have to get it sorted out fast. Then Ride it.. and ride it more to see if the bike is behaving just like she did before. Still can't believe a stone in the middle of the road did all this.. hurts

That diamond vision looks pretty cool ! I might switch to it next month. But I have a question... Isn't this powerful beam very 'blinding' to the oncoming traffic ? Cause I find it very blinding when there is a car/bike coming from opposite direction with this beam. So can hardly see what's on the road until the car/bike with this beam passes by. hope u get what i'm saying.. Still i might switch to it

                          • What is the minimum speed that one should maintain on each gear and at what RPM's does one change the gear.

I normally shift hears at 4-4.5 k hope this is ok.

As pointed out by nilesh14587 & abhiuppi , what if you end up on a screwed up road & you gotta put your foot down and there is a pothole on rode or mud or water accumulated just below your foot position?? I am asking this coz even i am close to 5'7'' & I really really wanna buy this bike...... and this is the only thing that is stopping me from doing so....

Actually this decision should be from your own instinct!!

I am 5.5' and have rode NS200 extensively with my friend as a pillion who owns it. I encounter some roads with bad potholes and even water clogged areas in my daily 42kms ride to office.
And I don't feel uncomfortable at all. I can always put one of the foots nicely on ground and I don't need both legs to touch the ground, unless I don't do some kind of stunt or something.
Even When i had TR from Showroom that time my pillion was something 5.10 -6.0 ft with 85 odd kgs..Even that time I din't felt it as uncomfortable.

If a person really knows when/where/how to ride then he won't face any issues any where with any bike. Because he will be prepare for the same.
Don't go by my words but ride it self for some 3-5 times and decide don't forget to take your pillion while TR!!
