      1. A decent wax polish.
      2. I am currently using Amway car liquid to wash the bike. Any other suggestions?
      3. Chain lube. Brand and type?
      4. do you recommend any things else to keep the bike clean and dust free.
      5. What is your opinion on 3M coating for the bike.
3M,waxpol,formula1,turtle wax you can try out but beware of fake products

u can get OKS spray from the SVC for 165 rupees for chain lubing
      else try motul chain lube

to keep it dust free best bet is a garage cover

btw any of you guys can suggest a place on the NS where we can keep a small piece of cloth to wipe the dust gathered on it? i just dont seem to find any place where i can keep a cloth(miss my activa for that :P )

Thanks for the information. Also, I am seeing more scratches at the base of the tank (towards the rider). The scratches are circular and the finishing is lost. Anyone knows why it is happening? More importantly, what can be the solution for this?

Regarding the cleaning cloth, I have started keeping it below the passenger seat. Agreed, it is a pain to open it each time but I couldn't find any other place (other than behind the coolant gauge but I was a bit scared)

probably because ur jeans or something scratches the tank a lot
solutions to it are either ur buy a tank pad like the ones in other pulsars

or get a polish job done and then a wax job

will clean the metal surface and protect it well

also the option is u have a stickering job done by a matt black stripe or a carbon fibre typre sticker stripe on your tank

looks good and protects the pain too

the pillion seat understorage is full of papers and the toolkit
i dont think i can put a cloth in it now

guess i have to think more on where to put the cloth

          • Wow the AFR tuning continues to puzzle me, there I was yesterday stating that after 1.5 times rotation from the default towards the richer side(anticlockwise) made the engine feel more rough and more increased vibration feel on the tank area.

Again today after suggestions from seniors here I reverted back to default, and then to test how engine behaves on the lean side(Clockwise) I twisted it by 90 degrees clockwise from default, and guess what, engine feels smoother than before, also the vibrations in the tank area(at 3.5k rpm) has gone down by almost 75%

Although I haven't extensively tested the wheezy feeling of the engine at high speeds, guess I ll let the AFr screw this way for now and test more.

i have writen down on a piece of paper what all work is to be done from the manual

i intend to stand there and get the bike serviced before me but is it fine to keep interacting with the mechanic while he is servicing and ask him what is done and did u do this n stuff??

want to get the best job done for my bike but i also dont want to bug the mechanic so much that he doesnt do the work properly

and any idea what is the estimated time in which the service is completed?
It's alright to ask him a FEW questions. Like you yourself said, don't be a distraction. Just request him in the beginning and he'll let you watch the entire servicing process. Mine took 30 minutes.

Dude It wasn't good to remove the guard protecting the monoshock and the chain guard. You'll find yourself in a mess while cleaning the bike up, especially after it's run in the rain. The hugger removal was alright. Btw, those pilots look uber cool!! Loved that front look!

@All, why do I get a smell of badam milkshake after the engine's thoroughly warmed up on a new engine oil? Is it alright or is the hot oil leaking off / getting toasted?
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

a full service in 30 minutes? u sure they carry out all the necessary work or is it just oil change filter cleaning wash bike and deliver to customer?
i sure will ask him that i want to watch my bike being serviced

did the SVC by mistake put bajaj almond oil instead of dtsi oil :P

                ok jokes apart

                did u notice oil leaking?
when earlier air cooled pulsars leaked oil u could clearly see and since this is liquid cooled i dont expect the oil if it leaked is burnt

just noticed recently or do you always get a smell?

@Vivek: Do you use knee guards? If yes then that might be touching the tank or probably even scratching it..
You can use any of the options that Mayank has posted, should help avoiding or making it worse.. Another option is PPF (Paint Protection film).. These are thin transparent films which can be cut and put on required area.. it should be available at car accessories shop.. (Google PPF to see how it looks)

What are the documents that you carry?

Few suggestion to make space under the pillion seat
                    1. Micro Xerox: Keep micro photo copy of documents. Make sure it is not so small that is not readable .. some 60% small should do the trick
                    2. Print on both sides: Print insurance copy on one side and Road Tax receipt on the other side.. plus can make it a micro photo copy..
                    3. Storage: You'll just have two pieces of paper first the above print and second Emission test.. (RC book = smart card now will be in your pocket/wallet).. roll them together and keep both these is light/thin plastic bag; make sure you don't fold since fold will cause crease and fading of print over a period of time.. Plastic bag to make it water resistant..
                    4. Where to keep?: Since its a small roll keep it on the side corner touching the side plastic part of the bike..
                    5. Now there should be space to keep a piece of cloth (unless you are trying to stuff a bath towel in there ... Peace just kidding).. Fold the cloth and place it appropriately.
                    6. The tool kit will be hooked in its slot so that should not hinder.

LOL bajaj almond drops! Well, the svc guys are allotted 15 minutes per bike, according to what I had seen on this thread. But yes, 30 minutes is more than enough. Btw, I use shell semi synthetic ax7 (changed on my own), not that crappy dtsi 10000. I didn't notice a single drop of oil anywhere. But looks like Shibadip hit the nail on the head:

Guys Bajaj has responded to so many problems of vibrations from the tank area with a solution , they will add rubber grommet in all the screws.

Woot!, I can't thank you enough on this. I am going to the exact service station tomorrow morning at 8:30 and incidentally to get the vibration issue and tappet issues fixed. So now I am sure they will do the right job for the vibrations. I always feel the SVC near Mekhri circle is good

PS: Just got to know that they have not yet received the bushes @ SVC :X

                            • Hello Everyone,

Happy Diwali & Happy New Year to all of you.

How are your bikes doing ?

My bike is like a 150CC Pulsar i guess. Since the first service my bike has lost its pick up and service guys are unable to restore it. Mileage is also around 35-36. Really fed up of these service guys.

Suro Dada would have clocked highest on the ODO i guess or does he have some competition ?

I missed out many pages so if there are any cool pics do post me the page number.

The smell is that of shell engine oil!! Its gives a characteristic smell when hot!! Are you sure you are using the right grade!? I think you are on 10W-40 when you should be xxW-50!!
