Sad for u mate... & for ur bike... Freaking horribleOriginally posted by thunderbird_m6 View PostFriends, I'd a fall yesterday as I was overtaking a bus from right side, suddenly 2 jokers jumped in front on my bike.. I was doing around 30-40 kmph, bike skated towards right side. Got some bruises on my right palm. Right side bar-end weight got damaged, right side crash guard damaged and handle got bent a bit.
Checked with svc guys, handle & bar-end weight not in stock yet, one major problem I've noticed is that bike is wobbling up-n-down while on the move, no matter if the road is good one or having broken tarmac. How to get this sorted, am very much worried now as I care too much for my bike & suddenly this crash has left me very upset since last 3 days.
Get the complete check up of ur bike. Even the slightest of defects can render the bike in many ways. I think the insurance should cover most of it as it was an accident & ur not at fault. Get well soon... Both u & ur bike

Guys.. where is this AFr screw located again ??? o_OOriginally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostI was getting vibes post 55 kph mark and the bike felt out of breath very often...so I turned it 180 degrees anti-clockwise and voila! vibes gone totally.I did it by turning it 90 degrees at a time and then riding it till 100 kph mark to check for any variations.I'd suggest you to revert your AFR screw back and do 60 degrees at a time and ride your bike and check for any positive improvement.Ride Fair, Ride Hard...

Hello Friends,
I have changed to Motul Mineral Oil 15W50 at 1250 Kms, now 1410 kms on ODO, I still have the balance 800ml of oil with me, my doubt is when I am headed for second service (by Dec end, as I have to complete 3 services within 8 months from purchase which is july 12), wud the SVC allow me to put Motul oil as I am serious about using Mineral Oil for atleast 2500 kms...if they refuse to put mineral oil and puts DTS-i (SS) oil, what do I do...drain the SS oil immediately and pour the Mineral oil or how....as fellow NSians would have faced similar situations...plz share your experiences...Thanx...Last edited by SHAQ; 11-15-2012, 06:39 PM.

as for the 2nd service, it is mentioned only about top-up if required, and there is no need to replace the oil..Originally posted by SHAQ View PostHello Friends,

So when offered, you can simply reject any top-up. (or better top up urself before giving the bike for 2nd service)sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

To all those in doubt regarding the price of the mid stand, here's the complete break up:
KIT CENTER STAND P200: 451.53 INR
PAID JOB: 50.00 INR
OUTPUT VAT 14.5% on 451.53: 65 INR
SERVICE TAX 12.36% on 50.00: 6.16 INR
Sub total (after tax): 517.00 INR
Net total: 573.00 INR
So overall it should cost around 570 bucks. The manager is a good lad and since he's pretty friendly with me, I just asked him why is it that many people elsewhere find showrooms quoting exorbitant prices for the center stand and he told "even their pockets need some money!" So I just felt I'm fortunate to know a guy who's mainly responsible at the svc. Else they treat the bikes like bi***es.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Had my first panic braking today. An elderly person on an activa with a small kid decided to take a right turn without indicator or hand signal. Was doing around 30 kmph and I braked immediately. Lucky for me I had read a bit about braking in the universal thread and I was able to stop the bike from skidding.
There was a bus and a truck coming behind and had I lost control, I would have most probably not made this post. At least not today itself
The brakes on this bike is damn good!!! However, I think the rear wheel skids more on this bike compared to my P150. Is it because of the rear disc brakes?
PS: Can anyone provide a link to some literature on engine braking? Or anyone with the gyaan care to share it here?Last edited by vivek.m; 11-15-2012, 08:04 PM.sigpic

when i went to get my stand svc quoted 330 as fitting chargesOriginally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostTo all those in doubt regarding the price of the mid stand, here's the complete break up:

i chose to get it done outside and when i was told 230 i still felt its more but saved a good 100 bucks so agreed
after i saw the mech do it i felt cheated on how come hes charging so much for such a simple job(but well the local mechanics do get just peanuts for the work they do so i was kinda ok with it)
now on reading that u were charged just 50 i feel more cheated that an ASC did it for 50 and a local mechanic got 230 from me for it..
how nice it would be if bajaj had standard rate charts for all the asc and they had to follow it...
have you completed 2nd service?Originally posted by Shibadip View Postas for the 2nd service, it is mentioned only about top-up if required, and there is no need to replace the oil..

can we really reject any oil change or topup?
will it affect warranty?Pulsar 200NS parts list

There aren't enough literature available online or in hard copy or any gyan that can act as a ready reference to braking. It's all about your riding style and how you connect with your motorcycle. Had it been some postulated to-do and not to-do steps, MotoGP riders at their level wouldn't have had issues with their braking, at their level ever, but they still do (in lesser known occurrences of-course, but the point is, those riders, with their level of experience and expertise, they still falter with their braking).Originally posted by vivek.m View PostHad my first panic braking today. The rubber on the NS is no doubt is of a harder compound, and a softer compound would definitely aid in braking, but a softer compound has it's own negatives in Indian conditions like they being a nail magnet, like they getting worn out pretty quickly etc. Even the leech of a rubber on Duke 200 skids if not modulated properly.
To your point of your previous P150 had drum and this had disc... well, I would again say that it's about getting used to. I've topped up my braking installation with Steel Braided brake line and now my NS delivers some serious bite both front and rear. I always prefer to have power at my disposal and get adjusted to it, rather than not having power when needed. The rubber when new used to skid a lot, but as I broke into the rubber the occurrences reduced and now it's down to the minimal.
The chassis of the NS is simply amazing and with the 50-50 weight distribution and a stiffer suspension setup (and of course with the inclusion of the Steel Braided line), the braking stability of my NS is like hand of God. I've got used to wheel locks and now I feel absolutely comfortable with them. I would suggest practice braking more in various condition in slow speed and try to get used to wheel locks, because in a non-ABS motorcycle that's bound to happen, specially in panic braking situation. There's no set formula to this. It's all your connection with the motorcycle and how much confidence you gain on it. A functional unit like a motorcycle would do what it's designed and made to do and the only faltering party on a motorcycle is the rider him or herself. So, the more you practice, the more you gain confidence and the safer you are while panic braking. I've seen riders panic braking at speeds more than 100, wheels locked and smoking and still stopping safely as if nothing happened.
So, pal, get out and practice and be safe and enjoy the ride, because that's what motorcycles are meant to do.

I was one of those guys who grew with the belief of applying rear brakes first in any scenario attitude and it took me quite a while to change the habit. I will be practising more on this everyday. Luckily for me most of the roads near my home are deserted in the afternoons and evenings.
I totally agree with you regarding the chassis and the confidence it instills in you. Also, can you throw some more light on the steel braided brake liners? I have not heard about them before so information on cost and whether it voids the warranty would be helpful.
Once again, thanks for the beautiful explanation. As precise as it can get!!sigpic

but when I kill the engine and switch it on again then it gets back to 1.6-1.8k rpm. Also the fe of bike is extremely low ie less than 28 kmpl [this is during runin period-riding sanely at 60-70 kmph with gradual acceleration]. I searched a bit on the forum and found that this happens when the afr is richer. I reside in Navi Mumbai, can anyone guide me which Service Center will be able to tune my bike properly? btw I really am afraid giving my bike to the Bajaj Service Center.I'm not sure about the idiling but the FE should also improve after your first servicing. Search for a pro-biking service centre, I think they should be able to treat your bike much better
