[OT] Happy deepavali (diwali) to all the riders. Be safe on road especially when children are bursting crackers.
Secondly, I noticed a weird behavior with the RPM needle today. The needle movement is not smooth at all when I am reving the engine in neutral (just upto 3000 rpm). It reacts slowly to the revs annd is jerky in movement. Is this an expected behaviour?
Also, I am trying very hard to keep the RPM below 4k and speed below 60km/hr. Any tips would be highly appreciated (Feels weird to ask tips on riding slower) :P
This bike is funny in many ways. Last time with the full tank method I got a milage of 58kmpl :O I couldn't believe it and thought the fuel dispenser is at fault and gave me more fuel :P (I normally see the opposite happening)
Second, at times there are vibrations in the lower rpm side (2.5k-3.5k) especially in the 4th or fifth gear
Still, coming from Pulsar 150 DTS-i (first generation spoke wheel), this bike feel light and fast. I am just loving the experience!!sigpic

Happy Diwali to ALL
went to pray at a couple of mandirs this morning and when i returned back after a 15km(total to and fro) ride i noticed my helmet lock was contantly touching and rubbing against my rear tyre.but the tyre doesnt seem to show any signs like it was continuously rubbing against plastic...if these were soft compound tyres i guess there might have been some rubber wearing off

The Binary Digits.....

Clicked during my one day 900km ride yesterday...
Did a top speed pf 146 kmph with fully loaded saddle bags. I guess without them could have done 2-3kmph more...
Lowest mileage: in reserve to reserve method once i got 24 kmpl....
but yes in those 240 kms my avg speed was around 80 kmph... so no complains..
TOUROGRAPHY : Read my other blogs here

Even with an average speed of 80kmph, a mileage of 24kmpl is a little less, istn't it? I would expect at least 33-35 kmpl at 80kmph.Originally posted by surojit View Post

@Horror: It is not Boxer CT or Discover, we are discussing the Pulsar 200NS.Originally posted by Horror View PostEven with an average speed of 80kmph, a mileage of 24kmpl is a little less, istn't it? I would expect at least 33-35 kmpl at 80kmph.

@Aditya: Dude the difference between you and people who are complaining about newer issues is that, you have bought the bike after much deliberation like most of us and now are content on enjoying this fine creation. Let the others be, is what I would say. I too have noticed too many complaints and new ingenious issues being brought up. This is a machine, niggles will always be there. Just enjoy it. Peace!!Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostUP and DOWN? A trip to a hill eh? How much petrol did you have in your tank? I'm guessing, if it was less and you were on a steep slope, the inclination might have gotten the fuel away from or toward the pipe connecting the tank to the carb, thus improper fueling in case 1 and normal in case 2.
And btw, to all, I still strongly believe in the 200NS being an excellent machine. I find one thing strange. The issues reported here have almost never been felt on my bike and even if few of them have been to a small magnitude, all of those have disappeared completely! The friends of mine who were complaining before, are now all praises! Is my bike a gem of a vehicle, a one in a million or is it the result of extensive care? I don't know!

I know exactly what we are discussing about so thanks for clearing thatOriginally posted by thumpmeister View Post@Horror: It is not Boxer CT or Discover, we are discussing the Pulsar 200NS.
I have heard on various occassions on this thread, which I have been following from the very beginning as well as from a few friends who own this bike that the average mileage on the bike on highways is between 35-40. Surojits bike here has given him only 24. My question is isn't that a little less than the normal figures and if he knows why? So you can keep your comments to yourself thanks.

Okay when I said similar riding, I didn't know you ride like this!Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Posteven my bike give very good mileage sometimes....but all of a sudden it becomes odd....i dont know how to describe it... But once it touches 7k, the power just pushes you back for a moment....if with a pillion, it gives a powerwheelie while shifting from 1st to 2nd at full blast many times... Recently i entered a very tight corner a lot too hot, my left shoe and sometimes the pegs were scrapping the tarmac, i was in 3rd gear with engine spinning at close to 6.5k and 7k rpm and suddenly a moron jumped from nowhere....with no scope for braking i just twisted rest of the throttle and the rear tyre made an awesum long power slide(i got scared though) with the rear wheel spinning mercilessly till i hit 10k in 3rd(just like motogp) and then shifted to 4th gear midcorner with throttle still pinned and it popped the front wheel up for a second and then i exited the corner.... It may look like an awesum cornering but i literally had my heart on my mouth for those few seconds....
May God bless your NS!
Power wheelies and power slides are something I've never tried before. Only redlining. And yes, I too have felt that sudden rush of power above 7k rpm.

Thanks for the lesson in syntax & semantics. Nothing to take offence about. Just consider this, 200cc machine, 23.5 bhp, constant 80kmph. You expect it to deliver 35-40? I rest my case. I dont believe in keeping my comments to myself when you can pass such comments.Originally posted by Horror View PostI know exactly what we are discussing about so thanks for clearing that

Firstly, unless you want an infraction, you might want to keep rudeness at its minimum AND learn to respect when someone tells you to follow forum rules.Originally posted by thumpmeister View PostThanks for the lesson in syntax & semantics. Secondly, coming to the bold bit, the 21Ps, 220cc, Pulsar 220 DTSi can easily do 45kmpl at a constant speed of 80kmph. So there is no harm in expecting 35-40 from 200NS which *supposedly* is more efficient than the P220. Even the *supposedly less efficient* Duke will do better than 24kmpl in such riding conditions.Last edited by antz.bin; 11-13-2012, 03:46 PM.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

Mileage depends on many factors guys, not just what speed ur riding it constant & all..
Road conditions- Ups, downs, hurdles to slow u down, etc.., Also kinda riding style ur adopting, the no# of stops u make in a stretch ( I know many of u will think that as long as the coolant temp can take it, u can go non stop, but it's a wise style to break off for a 5min after a hr or +half hr long stretch ), petrol, oil, & many other things. As long as u keep a check on it & r satisfied with what the Bike served u as at the end of the day, It's all beautiful.
Btw, Surojit, Awesome run mate... 900Km.. Nice.. Where did u do this 900Km ??Ride Fair, Ride Hard...
Live & Learn, Love Thee Ride...
