The 2nd & 3rd gear ratios & set-up has good state for ripping it away.. It's pretty similar in most of the Indian Manufactured Bikes. Std stuff u can call it. & btw, no point trying to mail em, they never respond unless it's something serious enough to sue them.. :P
tecnically a bike should never misfire... I can do anything on any gear but it should NEVER misfire... And that problem is in 2nd gear too...

Then you mean that if the 1st gear misfire's, its FINE??
I don't agree with you buddy. No matter what the ratio is, that doesn't mean it would misfire.
I agree that in Indian bikes, the first gear is to get rolling...but not to misfire.

Yes it should. But the battery may get a good beating in the long run!

They promised a delivery at 1700 and I got the bike at 1800 My previous bike was a Pulsar 150cc (2004 model) and the NS is leaps and bounds better than the 150cc. One thing I am still not able to believe is that the NS is a Bajaj bike... I have clocked 200kms in the last two days and I am trying to follow the run-in as meticulously as possible (I am straining myself to keep the bike under 50km/hr) and I had a few questions to the experienced here: 1. Though I am trying to follow the run-in, I have at times (4 times) crossed 50km/hr speed. On two occasions, I reached 60 on the odo. Do you guys think this would have caused any irreversible damage to the engine? 2. The run-in period before first service mentions maximum speed as 45km/h. How much can this be extended to? The reason I am asking is because the mechanic who delivered the bike to me told me to keep the speed below 70km/hr. No further information regarding run-in was provided. 3. Though the bike is butter smooth, there is a tappet noise from the engine. Should I get it rectified immediately or should I wait for the first service? 4. Regarding the tyres, I have not had a single issue with them yet! On my Pulsar 150 I had MRF zapper so I was planning to get something better than the Eurogrip (which is like the movie Eurotrip as in provides some fun but not the complete package). Will changing the tyres cost me the warranty of the bike? 5. The horns are pathetic, wait, its worse than pathetic. I am coming from a Pulsar 150 and hope you can understand my frustration on this. What do you guys think about changing the horn? What is the negative impact on the bike and also will this void the warranty? 6. During run-in, what is the maximum rpm I can reach for each gear. 7. Since there is no kick start, what happens when the self just goes kaput? Should we push and start like cars? 8. The mono shocks on the bike is kind of stiff. Will this change as I continue riding? Oh! I almost forgot, I am new here (Hello all). Just completed reading some posts in this thread. Was waiting for the admins to accept my membership.... Finally, I call my beast "The Silent Assassin..."
regarding the horn, you can tune the stock one to make it louder. I tuned mine and now its better. Louder

Thanks for the information. The tappet noise starts after the bike warms up Though it is not too loud, I can somehow hear it through my helmet. I will be going to SVC today or tomorrow. I am waiting anxiously for the run-in to complete. Also, the digital fuel indicator is the worst I have seen. If there is only 6 litres of fuel, it still shows full :x and doesn't indicate correctly until the fuel reduces to 3 litres or so.

That sounds feasible for me. Tuning the horn in NS is the same as other bikes right? (Tighten the screw on the horn) or is there something I should know about?

PS: I am new here and hope I have multi-quoted correctly, if not mods please help me out!!

I never said that miss-fire it should, that it's ok if it does. I was just putting the fact here that 1st gears here have pretty Low ratios. Max u can pull to 20kmph with a loads of vibes felt & unpleasant sounds of the ragging Engine. Miss-fire may mostly be becuz of the timing set-up in the ecu. It's pre-set. Get it tuned/remapped, & ur problem will be solved.

Again, never actually said it should miss-fire.
left the on go reason again in my previous reply. If u really want to do anything on any gear, U have gotta get it tuned, remapped, etc.. That's why people tune, to get what they want, right. Manufacturers follow std stuff, universal to them, which they hope to be best for the bike & its components. Just get it remapped, it'd eliminate the problem, but then again, might violate the norms of warranty. :/

                      • Ok guys, Did some asking about to gather more on the misfire issue..
So there r 3 probable possibilities- loss of spark; the air/fuel mixture is too far out of balance to ignite; or loss of compression. I'm sure we all know about it well enough. So get the spark plug & electrical connections to it checked, also get it checked for leakage around the valves or other places. It might be a bit serious issue & I apologize to have taken it a bit lightly. Sometimes they try to avoid the manufacturing defects to be detected which r serious in nature unless the no#s r more on it. So advised to get it checked by professionals if the SVC guys aren't cooperating to do so.

Yup...dont rely on the fuel gauge.

Yes the afr could be a reason because @Rahulbarik generally runs on a lean afr.

Most petrol pump attendants do their best to fleece the customer by putting in less amount than what we pay for. Try filling in at a Shell Petrol Pump (I have more faith on Shell).
