The service guys didn't understand,so I had to tell them about the carb air and fuel mixture using a mix of hand signals and vrooming noises. The idle rpm was normal. 1100-1300 rpm during cold starts and 1400-ish rpm when warmed up. I wanted to check the battery voltage during the PDI but they didn't have the required tools.
And I ordered a 100 ml can of waxpol carnauba wax today. In addition to car wash shampoo that I already have,I think I have all things covered. I bought the black model because I like sober/inconspicuos colours. Well,I have to pay the price for getting an elegant bike, don't I?

AFR is the air-fuel ratio. The mixture of air and fuel that is burnt by the engine in each cycle is regulated by the carburettor. It can be calibrated through a screw near the engine. Less fuel+more air=lean mixture. Results in a higher mileage figure but cold start problems and acceleration drops. More fuel+less air=rich mixture. Lower mileage figure, almost no startup problems. Acceleration is better at the cost of top speed. You can go through this thread from 400-900 pages. Enough has been discussed by the experts to educate rookies like me.
Even I haven't had the first service done yet. Will have to personally supervise the personnel and shoo them away from the idle screw and AFR screw.
Wow that's a lot of good info and insight. Thanks a lot for sharing. I hope in my first servicing they will fix it.

      • My Recommendation

No need to change front tyre.

My recommendation 2 install the MRF Zapper Q @ d rear 130/70 best of both worlds, medium compound & best dry & wet grip & bike now is hugely Stable..

When I finally decided this tyre is in huge demand , no where available in Delhi , had 2 go 34 kms @ badarpur in delhi only one piece available rest out of stock.

Revz s available every where , excellent grip , but Puncture or nail magnet.

My suggestion Zapper Q. Rest up 2 u.

        bye

I'm not aware of the fork oil grade. But why changing fork oil so soon ?

I know its too early to change the fork oil but as per instructions it is to be changed in the 3rd service and the other reason is that I wanted to try out Motul fork oil as I have heard its very good but confused between the grade.

@all: A few days ago I had noticed the engine oil to be very frothy which happens to be a symptom excess oil AFAIK but I don,t understand how come the engine oil amount increase when I had filled exactly 1200ml and also the inspection window was also almost full(had checked it in the morning before starting the engine). After that I had taken out the extra oil but today when I was checking it there was almost no oil in there which seems strange. And how to reduce the free play of the rear brake pedal,I had increased it earlier but cannot reduce it now.

          • Hi. Completed 1000km on the NS today. I have a question, is it safe to ride the bike at RPMs like 5-6k? Until now I have been riding at a max of 4k or a little over 4k RPM which is about 60kmph in 6th gear.

            Thanks in advance.

I would say leave the fork as long as the seals are intact, if any of the seal is busted, then change the seals and with that the oil in both forks, works on the fork are cumbersome and easy to mess up. And messed up forks get handling all messed up. Anyways, it's your call buddy.

And about excess oil. If the oil is not drained properly there will be residual amount of oil in the sump. So filling 1200ml of oil will cause in it getting over the maximum mark, BTW, how did you remove the excess oil ? I mean did you drain the full oil and refill with desired amount or some other way ?

P.S: Always check oil level after the bike has been placed on a leveled surface on main stand overnight, So all the oil from different part comes to the oil sump and gives the rue value. And never start the engine and then check the oil, the level will always be at minimum mark if you do so.

So its better to rule out the fork oil change but I think I need to change the seal as I am getting a constant 'kat-kat' sound whenever my bike goes into a pothole. First I thought that the number plate was touching the front mudguard but I don;t think the suspension is that soft.

Regarding the engine oil,I had just taken out about 200ml by loosening the drain plug and after that had put in some oil until it had reached the correct level. I know that this is not the correct way but anyways will be changing it very soon.

Kat kat sound for small potholes is the coneset. Get it greased or changed, also check the bearings in the front end assembly. It's not the fork oil seal damage. Any damage to seals will set the oil to leak.

                  • I dont have that problem with normal potholes, but yes if its a deep one and i am coming fast then i get a DUB noise from the front forks, is that normal or should there be no sound at all??

Yes..thats normal with a deeper pothole the compression will be more and chances are it might bottom out. If the forks are fine then it's ok.

My NS had a leaking fork oil from the second day of ownership.
SVC guys had replaced whole shock-up free of cost, but they charged 100.00 for consumables
& black coating of handle bar is started chipping off

My NS is still unregistered. waiting for my old bike's number

They offered me a new carburetor for my 5.5k+ missing.( by going through our forum posts I found that its a common phenomena)
                        I am waiting for that.

Many of our members are quoting "my ns has hit 100+ with vibe free"
I don't know. Is it true????
                        I don't think so.

Now I am thinking, it was my life's second big mistake, which I had made the decision to buy this "BUFFALO"
                        I am totally fed up

You might have got a bike with many defects..if they arw offering changes in warranty ..get it done. And rectify it.

Notjing wrog with tje ns really. Much more quiter and smoother than other pulsars. Defonetly not vibe free but considerably less.

Lol 1000km and max 4k rpm, WOW!! I started revving it upto 10k or sometimes even more as soon I crossed 750km. No problem since last 250 odd kms. I think its time for you to enjoy your ride. Just don't max out suddenly. Take it in steps like 6k rpm for maybe 200 more kms, so that the engine gets acquainted to higher rpms And after that gradually increasing it upto 10k and more.
There's a beast ready to be unchained after 7-8k rpm But due to very bad road conditions I have had some vibrations from the console area which is sometimes really annoying. Besides that no problems.
