strange u fell on left side and got ur right cowl damaged..600 bucks with or without labour??

    ..................
and i have been riding it that way since about 1.5 months and no problem in hand...but yes i too have city riding but the distance is small...just about 3-8ms of continuous one time run..

1)Yup that very silver coloured rod costs Rs 350/-. without labour charges.

2)And regarding the right side tank cowl ......I had another accident 6 months before.... I was waiting for the spare all these while. It took 6 months
for the spares to arrive.Again the Rs 600/- of the cowl doesnt include labour charges.

    3) Im also having a similar ride habit like yours. So I guess I need not change the rod or anything...
Still wanted to discuss about the same with you people...thats why asked....

See,I'd recommend you go ahead and replace the bent rod. My previous bike had a single piece handlebar and after a fall,it had bent inwards at the RHS. Won't seem that much big a deal considering it was only by a few degrees, but over time, even city riding would put stress on your hands and more specifically your shoulders. Your arms will begin to compensate for the change in optimal positioning and this might lead to muscle-ache after a considerable time. Because you will be pushing the handlebar in the direction opposite to which it has bent. Also, when you shift to a new bike, your muscle-memory will offer resistance to the new riding position, although not permanently. I've experienced chronic shoulder and wrist pain after a year and a half of riding with the bent handle.

@all,can anyone help me in locating the choke plate in the bike? :| I've been sensually poking under the bike's frame and as of now, unsuccessful in locating it. Haven't had the opportunity to go to the svc and ask. Wouldn't prefer it,if you ask me. The guys are way too unprofessional.

Ultimately SVC people will make use of one these methods.
Can I take it to a lathe centre?

And why i am shocked is that my bike has never fallen or hit anywhere(touchwood).... then how can it be broken just like that...
I jus tightened and the bolt broke into half...

        • Just out of the blue,

Since the beginning, everytime I would turn on the headlight, the idle rpm would vary by about 100 rpm. I mean, with all lights turned off the idle is at 1500 rpms when warm and if I turn on the headlight the idle rpm drops down to 1400 rpms. The behavior is unchanged since the beginning. But I haven't had a single problem with respect to rideability at night. Is this common?
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Yes you can do that, but if i am not wrong they will have to take out the engine in order to mount it on the Lathe machine and drill out the stuck bolt, hence be careful.

            • Guys since last few days i am feeling front part of the bike to be spongy.... it doesnt feel same or give the same feedback like before..... hope u guys understood what i meant.....what might be the reason? I guess it has something to do with the front forks.... there is no fork oil leekage or something..... Is it time to change the fork oil? Any other reasons?

P.S : I am 9K kms on ODO, and done with 3rd free servicing last week..... SVC was supposed to check and replace fork oil in 3rd service, but they said there is no need and they would do it in next service i.e after 5k more kms....

vibrations after the fall. The whole bike gets vibrations even to the tail section if throttle is raised to 4k rpms !!
They said they would tighten all the parts and all.....
Then the main guy there told that the left handle bar has a slight alignment change(due to fall)and that it would give arm pain if driven for long
                distances.
Replacing the left handle bar (its an alloy rod) would cost about Rs350/-

Im already having my right side tank cowl getting replaced now for Rs 600/-.

Me being a 100% city rider travelling short distances only, should I spend that Rs 350/- and get a new rod replaced ASAP ??
I had a fall more than a month ago. Ended up with a bent crash guard and handle (right). And there was another issue with the steering stopper.
I had to pay Rs 499 for changing the right handle bar holder (the blank part where the silver handle bar is fixed). Plus labour.
For going straight, I had to extend my left hand forward and the right hand a little back because of the bend. Now its all fixed.
If you can shell out Rs350 please get the bar changed.

BTW, I noticed you are in TVM. I get my bike serviced at Pioneer near Kannettumukku. I am not happy with the way they do the free services.
                How about you?

I know exctly what you mean...as I also feel the same. The handle simply does not give feedback as it used to earlier...I think some issue is there with the fork assembly as tightening handle bolts is useless..My 3rd service is due soon..but by the track record so far I am not very much hopeful that SVC will actually pay any attention to it...They just say "its normal" for any damn issue you point out...
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Aditya, the behavior is correct. For all bikes this happens so the best way to set idle RPM is to turn on light and tune.

the 2nd hid is switched on only on the highway and the 3rd one is switched one when i need extreame lights while touring... In city only 1 hid is switched on... And even if i switch on the 2nd one in city, i lower the focus with my hand coz its adjustable...

You could have changed the stock bulb to a brighter one, that would be more than enough even for highways. You will be happy by seeing everything lighted up in front of you but it is just a nightmare for everyone else coming towards you. How far do you plan to see while touring with your 3 light setup? If you are so concerned about your safety, you should first fix your RVMs instead of these.
