    • Today was redline day for my NS. It was 7:30 in the morning when the bike was first turned on and after the day-long abuse, was allowed to rest in the evening. Gave plenty of breaks in between but kept the revs near the redline mostly. This monster in the hands of an insane rider (a friend of mine who wanted to try it out) is scary to behold. He (an r15 owner) said he liked this more than the duke thanks to it's touring capabilities and good top end and there wasn't a single point where he missed his bike's fairing. Top speed hit: 153 km/h without wind blast, speedo indicated.

      Things I noticed:

      1. There's a flat spot between 6k and 7k rpm. Felt the hindrance to pull ahead very often. Above 7k, the bike would go absolutely crazy (as usual). Anyone knows the reason for the flat spot, or felt it anytime? If it's a tuning issue, I'm planning to make it richer.

      2. Since this was no jolly ride, the engine was strained to it's limits today. And the after-effect of that was the heat. I could feel the heat on my legs even with a pair of jeans on. The side panels and perimeter frame felt hot too, but the engine wasn't overheated, the fan was working perfectly.

      3. The body was super smooth before the ride. Now it's all vibey at the console and rear seat. Also, tappet noises are back. But nowadays I'm beginning to like them (feels like a desmodromic ducati ). Will get the tappets checked anyway.

Overall, a good highway experience and a hell lot of drag fun!

OT - R15+K&N roar+an insanehead = a treat and a scare to watch at the same time.
      #a new respect to R15

But NS is still my true love
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

I haven't the slightest idea. Anyone here who has experience shopping from international shipping wala shopping sites?
Dammit. Why don't local companies market this stuff? There must be a million pulsars on the road here already. The market is for anyone's taking.

Have heard from a few people that apart from the rate of the item customs duty is also applicable to us like any oyjer stuff getting imported. But for small items we might get lucky.

And as far as market is concerned ,i guess people do make such stuff..but the quality is the issue here.

              Cheers

I doubt customs duty will be levied on items as small as a pair of handguards. Since Ebay global easy buy products only accrue a minimal customs duty,I think the same shall apply for these as well. It may also be that Ebay has a special agreement on importing. Whatever may be the case, the ultimate loser is the consumer, innit?

i import a lotta sutff .. electronics.. etc etc..

just keep the shopping under 50 $ and the item should not be bulky and you'd be good...

if buying from ebay global they will deal with everything.

else you can buy things from amazon and get it here through aramex/borderlinx..

                  • Guys, Firstly even with sane riding, I only manage a mileage of 32 to 35. This is really disappointing as I see many owners quoting 40 to 45 mileage. Any suggestions? The SVC guys havent been able to do anything.

Secondly, my bike is due for 3rd service, and I have clocked 6000kms on ODO. Could anyone suggest me a good engine oil? Preferably Synthetic.

getting mileage depends on riding style..etc...why to worry. I don't think you should think of 35+kmpl from NS200 with the power it comes...if you get anything > then it's a bonus.

it depends a lot on driving style and road traffic conditions.
My riding style in 220Fi is shift at 3k rpms and cruise at 4.5k rpm in fifth gear.
Keep the clutch and brake use minimal Anticipate the traffic and ride smoothly.
And am getting 30 to 40ish .some times 40+ too.(calculated approximately)

What he meant is with sane riding..he is getting FE lesser than most members get here...so why is that...

i had the same query....i too used to shift at 3.5k rpm...never went above 4k except a few times(riding range between 3-3.5k rpm)...i used to get 36-37 in city...i wasnt complaining but many quoted above 40...

i started riding now with shifting at 4-4.25 k rpm...and if i am in slow moving traffic..i tried riding at 3.75 to 4k rpm..and not shift to the next gear....and i managed to squeeze out 40kmpl

the thing is at 4k rpm..the bike makes a lot of grunty noise(engine characteristic) which made me feel i am screwing it up...but well then i got used to the sound and made myself believe economy shift point is 4k rpm

So this might not be right but i came to a conclusion that riding at 4-4.5k rpm is more efficient than shifting to the next gear and riding at low rpm...

we should really consider ourselves lucky with this FE figure...the R15 and cbr150r chaps get 40-45kmpl mostly...(performance 150cc segment)

the cbr250r gets about 30 and if highway sane riding about 35+ kmpl

and duke gets about 30kmpl too due to its short stroke fuel guzzling engine which makes u rip all the time...so the NS crossing 35 and giving 40 is good

even my activa gives lower E than the NS :P

But here I see you are more concern on your bike!!

Please think on yourself instead of bike. This or any bike in future or present won't be the last piece in the universe. There will be many if you are well.

The thing I am concerned is, that the cyclist who was there did not stop, the guy who hit me did not stop(might have thought I was dead), and the disgusting part is someone stole money from my purse which I just withdrew from atm, not a big amount but that was a shameful act. I met the guy who brought me home, he told me that I was unconscious for about half an hour, and I was able to answer the questions they were asking but that was just it. I couldn't remember what the conversation was. The helmet was broken which did save my life. My clothes were intact and not a scratch anywhere.

I just realized that how sane a rider we are, it takes just one idiot to ruin your day.

But this will not keep me away from my bike. I am a biker by choice and I would like to be that way.

Only one thing still bugs me, NO one has found the solution for that tak tak sound while going on potholes and small uneven surfaces. It was not the fork racer/coneset since I have installed the new coneset recently. I wish someone has found the solution. If so please share

S#!$ man...where did you find it from?? I have been loking for that kind of stuff on internet for 2-3 days...tail bags and side bags...even the engine guard...thats pretty awesome stuff.....Wish we can get it in India somehow..thanks buddy....great to see tailor made stuff for NS.....

Its super costly to get it imported (engine guard is $140 + shipment + import duty..way too costly). That kind of stuff is not that difficult to make..I had thought of removing the split-grab rail and put a tail bag/side bag stand or a back-rest for pillion there. Someone who does "jugad" for bikes can easily do it and if hes assured that he will get few hundred customers atleast he could see the sense in it.

Any body know anyone who can do such kind of "Jugad" for NS, in Pune??

Thats pathetic man...really really depressing to see the level to which Indian's morality is stooped to...stop worrying for the Bike for some time dude (:P) and nurture yourself back to health first...

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Hope they change evreything under warranty because I aint shelling out a single penny. Its a 6 months old (5100 kms) bike and should break down in the middle of the road because the god damn engine broke!
Now that's something very serious.... shouldnt have happened as 200NS s a performance bike, do let us know what SVC guys say.....

Dude how u guys find NS stable at such high speeds as i dont find it much stable when close to and above 100kmph.... i badly feel the need of fairing at that time,...

Also i am facing one more issue these days..... When i press the front forks with fronk brake applied, at the end of suspension travel it makes some "thak-thak" noise....what is the issue here? Recently got fork oil + springs changed(as told to me by SVC, don't believe them much though).... THe SVC manager is saying its absolutely normal..... :@ what is irritating is for everything they say its normal even though they themselves know its not.... they just dont want to acceot it... :@
