Fender Eliminator anyone ??

Before you guys correct me about the fender thing lemme clear that I know that our 200 NS does not comes with a rear fender i.e there's only a no. plate hanger there.
But I suppose a lot of owners would agree with me that the rear is not the best aspect of our NS as far as looks are concerned. So after a couple of sleepless nights to come up with the best 'architecture' to get rid of that 135-ish look , Eureka! moment clicked me & a very good & reliable design came to my lazy brain cells to cut on the length of the no. plate hanger all the way upto the indicators (as I believe indicators are very important for road safety so didn't wanted to gamble on that) & using some steel clamps here & there.Explained my design to the local mech about the jugaad. He asked me to keep my bike with him but I have insecurity issues with my babe so ...I gave only the no. plate assembly to him to work upon...

I hope that he does a good job with it & if everything goes according to plan
, then by night , you , my fellow naked brothers will have something to look forward to.
For the time being this is how my bike looks w/o the hanger.
Ciao for now.

I am definitely looking forward to see the new design. And good thing you gave the mechanic only the number plate assembly to work on. Hope it comes out right.

Well, I said this because in a post you said you don't want to create panic about this issue. Clearly its not a one-off case. And its actually good that you are letting us know about it.Originally posted by myth2104 View PostAs I mentioned earlier, I know this guy on a personal level too. So this was a kind of off-the-record stuff which he told me. And BAL does know about it that's why they have rectified it next batch onward.
Should get my bike today.
Its a critical issue and Bajaj should recall all the faulty pieces. But how one will force Bajaj to accept that there is an issue?? You got to know it luckily. If my bike has same issue how will I get it fixed from Bajaj?? The SVC guys don't even accept small small issues and reject saying its normal, will they listen to this claim??. Bajaj will simply refuse to accept. If they had intentions to replace faulty parts they would have done it already in those sold bikes. So if our bikes has this same issue should be wait till one fine day the engine breaks down in no-mans-land??
Is it possible for you to get an official statement from Bajaj Quality dept regarding this?? That could help all other who own bikes from same batches to force Bajaj to recall those bikes.
+1Originally posted by danny king View PostHmm, if BAL does know about the quality issue, its possible that it could happen to others. And I read in a related post few pages back that bikes sold between Sep and Oct have a probable defect. Shouldn't the bikes be recalled for rectification.
Car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Toyota (thousands of Toyotas were recalled in the US for correcting the gas pedal) etc. mass recall cars for rectifying known defects. I don't know about bikes in India whether any have been recalled by any bike manufacturer for rectification.
I don't like NS in that shape with stock tires. It deserves bigger and better tires like 150/60 atlease. Looking forward to your design.Originally posted by nishant.sukharia View Post

I wanted to have an extended number plate holder like in Duke 200 (this one is integrated with tail lamp assembly though) or in FZ1/CB1000R. A protruding number plate holder will subdue the issue of dirt spraying in monsoon time (would love to get rid of ugly tire hugger anyhow..:P).Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

I got to know it luckily??? I had to tow my bike for 40kms back to my home (it broke down on a national highway on a sunday with no one around other than co-members of NWK who helped me tow it) and then to the svc the next day...so I dont think it was a lucky experience.Originally posted by nilesh14587 View PostWell, I said this because in a post you said you don't want to create panic about this issue. And I dont think there is a way to force Bajaj to recall the faulty batch for replacement since there is no official statement or declaration by them and also hey wont accept that there's a defect. I even wrote an email to Bajaj questioning the quality of the product and all. In reply I got a call from the CC saying that the svc will take care of the matter and replace everything under warranty. No amount of persuasion resulted in the CC shelling out anything else.
And the only way I have found out to make the svc do your work is to be harsh to them and show them that you too have some technical knowledge about the bike. This way I have made a good relation...yes a good relation with the service manager of the svc and I dont have to face any probs now.
Nope...Bajaj wont give any official statement regarding this fault/defect.

yeah , after this the bike demands a 150/60 revz-c which is currently next in my list. But it would take a while to save that much money.Originally posted by nilesh14587 View PostI don't like NS in that shape with stock tires. So where is the rear number plate ? And i think for sharp turns etc you need to switch off the stock tyres to some better ones!Originally posted by nishant.sukharia View Postyeah , after this the bike demands a 150/60 revz-c which is currently next in my list. But it would take a while to save that much money.

Today I took a test ride of an NS. Now don't be surprised people.
Since a few days I was busy with college activities and hadn't found the time to rip my bike on open roads. Of course I redlined it for a day but I didn't feel anything different. Today, I began redlining again and I felt there was a lag at 7.5k rpm and that bugged me big time. So I visited the SVC, took a test ride and guess what? It was all in my head. The bike is fine. 7.5k is just the beginning of the display of the true power of the NS and it's in it's nature to give a slight lag-like feeling after shifting.
But here comes the main part. I was given a new bike (probably waiting to be delivered today evening) for a test ride. I spoke to the manager about it, saying I wanted the test ride vehicle itself. It seems the TR bike had an accident. I had no other option but to ride the new bike itself. Heated it up a bit and reluctantly took the rpms above 8k (I thought there was a 7k limit till first service). What has bajaj done with NS?! It's much more silent now, and too smooth (which is boring IMO), not what a typical 200 cc should feel like. The tacho showed 8k+ rpms but it didn't really *feel* so fast. My slightly vibey and grunty post-release NS makes me go
everytime I give a good twist to the throttle. Other things I noticed were, the reserve knob plastic quality is different, much easier to turn; the bike felt higher-set, heavier (or again, was this all in my head?).
I had posted a diy to remove console vibrations from NS but I myself haven't followed it because, well, I like my ride vibey.
It's simply more exciting.
I know I had mentioned in a few posts before that my ride is smooth, but that was in comparison to other bikes. Mine has vibes too.
I like both the number plate design and the hugger. It looks like a bmwOriginally posted by nilesh14587 View Post

. But yes, NS would have looked better with a 150 section flat-profile rear. It's got a BIG front look and a tiny rear.
But there's a reason Bajaj gave a smaller rear wheel: F.E. gains compared to duke.Last edited by Aditya N Bharadwaj; 03-25-2013, 06:08 PM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Killed the 135-ish look
The Job is done & the rear looks a lot better especially with the new number plate design!!
The small light above the no. plate is gone & so is the reflector.
Now the next thing on my list is the fatter MRF Revz-C 150/60 ,which would take a while .
Costs : Mount Work : 200 bucks
Modified No. plate : 50

LOL...
Sorry for the miscommunication. What i really meant is the ASM is member of your group, and was friendly toward you, so he told you...that was the "lucky" factor...otherwise i don't think you would have got to know that this problem is for whole batch..
I didn't mean you were lucky to face this break down....LOL how could I mean that??
Well, its a sad situation with customer care in India. We can just hope this issue wouldn't creep up again to anybody....

Thats not the true reason...it is just a part of the complete picture...Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View Post+1

the smaller rear tyre gives better cornering than the fatter duke tyre...trust me its true...NS corners better than duke...the 150 section tyre is overkill for the duke and its not as good a corner machine like NS...even PTR review mentions itPulsar 200NS parts list
