Even R1 users don't use the company provided oil and go for motul products (as I've heard and read).

Frankly, bajaj oil is good enough for normal use. By normal use, I mean for daily commuting and a few bursts of acceleration. But for spirited riding like insane ripping, long highway runs, etc, where the engine is much much more active, these high performance oils become a need. The oil that is used in platina / discover 100 can't be used in a high performance 200cc engine for spirited riding.

Again, it's the better overall quality of these engine oils compared to bajaj's. They simply justify their price.

Why not change to motul 5100 15w50 SS NOW and see if that changes your opinion? It's not too costly since it's a semi-synth oil.
As I said earlier, I am still on DTSi oil. Motul & Shell are not available in our area. I haven't any problems with any of my previous bikes with its manufacture recommended oil (Caliber, Shine, Unicorn) & also our 150r & R15
My elder brother using 150r & my younger brother on R15

I know very well about running-in. I had done running-in as per manufacturer's notes.
& I am not talking about it

I don't know about foreign bikes. because I haven't ridden any one of those
Even NS, 150r, R15 are the costliest bikes in my concern

    What should I say !
I am comparing by commuter bikes.
Our old Unicorn & Shine was far better than our new NS ! (in terms of riding smoothness)
even with my first bike Caliber....

When it comes to vibrations, there is NO BIKE which is 100% vibe free. The scooters can be called vibe free because they have a teeny tiny engine whose vibrations get dampened pretty easily. I didn't say mine's 100% vibe free. It's just that mine's comparatively more smoother than most bikes I've ridden.
My friend having Thunder bird My only experience with Enfield
but being a Long-Long stroke engine, it can't be compared with NS's Vibes, Which is different & unbearable.

may be due to insane driving by me

I think it is not possible to wear riding gears all the time except having a long journey

    • I hear most of us saying that the bike gives vibs mostly due to faulty tuning by the SVC. So can some experienced member show how to correctly tune our bike by ourself. I dont think any one of us would mind spending some time with the tuning to get that initial smoothness back.

In my case too the smoothness went away right after first service ( damn that SVC ) I wish I could get that smoothness back

Well,it actually is. It's just a matter of getting used to it. Takes some time, but the safety added is easily worth the tiny inconvenience.

Totally agree with you mate, I would rather get home sweating than risking breaking a bone or nasty scratches.

I already have a broken collar bone which required surgery and trust me, it ain't fun at all.
Do not click it unless you have an open mind...

Ah,that elicits a cringe. I've had fairly deep flesh wounds from wearing shorts while riding back from my training once. Now,until I get my own riding pants,Jeans ftw!

+1 to that. at least people should wear a helmet if not all the riding gear for shorter rides. I have that habit of wearing a helmet, which as proved this thursday did save my life. It was broken on the lower jaw side (the plastic shell as well as the inner foam) , which means if i did not wear the helmet that day ( the ride was a very short ride from home), people would have been chanting RIP for me..

So, be it a moped or a super-super bike, at least a helmet is must.

The vibes are definitely caused by a faulty tuning and loose nuts and bolts.
                1. To get rid of them...get your tuning done with the help of a CO checking machine and not just a trial and error method.
                2. Get your bike's nuts and bolts tightened along with application of rubber grommets.
                3. Get your tappets adjusted, if required.
                4. Use a good engine oil.

By following these steps I can firmly say that vibes in my (as well as my peers') bike a very bearable at speeds 135kmph+

I owned Apache 180 for 3 years and I can understand what you are taking about. However, whenever my wife used to sit with me on my Apache she used to complain that earlier Pulsar never used to tickle my foot so much that your Apache does! Now she is happy with new 200NS because it does lot less tickling!!! LOL

Wish I had one like this too. I work in the night shifts, none of the cab drivers dim their lights regardless of signalling them. That's when I am desperately in need of having this set up, so that I could force the irresponsible oncoming to dim their lights and then I too can go back to my low beam riding.
It's good to have this set up but we must make sure that it doesn't affect anyone, even by mistake.

Well, do you really have to stoop to those idiots' level to teach them a lesson?? What if a stupid cab driver gets blinded by your head light and hits you only due to it?? (or someone else for that matter)??

As they say, an eye for an eye makes whole world blind. (I am not particularly a Gandhi Fan..but this one makes a lot of sense...:P)

As I mentioned earlier, I know this guy on a personal level too. So this was a kind of off-the-record stuff which he told me. And BAL does know about it that's why they have rectified it next batch onward.

                              Should get my bike today.

Hmm, if BAL does know about the quality issue, its possible that it could happen to others. And I read in a related post few pages back that bikes sold between Sep and Oct have a probable defect. Shouldn't the bikes be recalled for rectification.
Car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Toyota (thousands of Toyotas were recalled in the US for correcting the gas pedal) etc. mass recall cars for rectifying known defects. I don't know about bikes in India whether any have been recalled by any bike manufacturer for rectification.
