  • Just got my hands on the Viaterra Claw saddle/tail bag.
Fits well on the NS - Did not move or shift around when drove 15km within the city. Quick and easy to mount/unmount

Will put up a review of the bag with a trip log soon.
In my opinion this is a great bag for the NS, as we cannot use magnetic tank bags..

    Claw review - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...lt-review.html

Also, i visited the Kothrud Sai Service for a bike checkup - I will be doing 1000+km over the weekend from Pune to Goa and back
The service engineer was free so i enquired about a few things

    - Changing oil brand: He said as long as you get 20w50 oil, they will use it during the next service.. he isnt bothered about the brand and he said the warranty will not be affected

    - Upgrading horn: He said the dual horns from the 220 will be supported by the battery but he suggested i go for a louder horn from one of the earlier pulsars..
can someone help me here - i always thought the pulsars came with dual horn.. is there a version with a single, but more powerful horn?

What you say is right probably. Along with the tires, it might as well have to do with the overall dynamics of the bike. (I am not an expert, just an engineer's intuition..)

I think its the tire profile which matter more than the tire fatness. For ex: 140/60 tire of FZ16 has a much flatter profile. So it is not as good for cornering as Eurogrip-130/70 of 200NS. Duke's MRF 150/60 profile looks quite rounded (well may not be as much as that of NS) and looks good enough for cornering of most of the users. How many of us really do knee-down cornering anyways.

As well there's nothing like an eye for an eye in this.
Bro, you and I both know that we at XBHP promise ourselves to be sensible and prudent riders.
I wish that you could choose your words properly, which would not lead to a speculative conversation.
Lets agree first that whoever drives with high beam unnecessarily and have no decency to lower it seeing oncoming traffic, is downright idiot and careless driver.

Just answer this for me..What if that idiot cabbie coming towards you gets blinded himself due to your lights and before he could understand that you want him to lower his lights end up hitting some vehicle or you??

Also there could be other innocent riders coming from that side with that idiot cabbie. They will also get blinded by your high beam. What of them??

See dude, I understand that you are one irritated rider (as many of us here) due to some idiots and rightly so. I face this issue too on daily basis. (In fact I am searching for good polarized protective riding goggles to subdue it a bit from my side). You have right intentions in your mind for what you wanna do. I see you are careful enough not to affect anybody unnecessarily. But I frankly don't see a point in flashing high beam the way you say. Its risky. I feel its as stupid as the oncoming cab driver keeping high beam. Not every time "tit for tat" is appropriate.

My opinion. I stand by it. If you don't see point in it, ignore and carry on with yours. Happy riding..

Firstly, the bike, in a way got a full servicing which it wouldn't have got had it been a regular service. As a result, very smooth and linear pull, change in the exhaust note (has become bassier and thicker), smoother gear shifts and a renewed feel of power.

Total pocket pinch : Rs.913/- (including oil change, oil filter, clutch packaging and other minor spares and gaskets)
The coolant was drained when the engine was opened up initially so it was changed too....but I didn't pay for it

The actual cost of the crankshaft was Rs.4452/- (replaced under warranty)
Good to know you got your bike back... Try to recover all the money you paid. You are absolutely right when you say that, if that damn shaft hadn't failed, you would not have to change oil or oil filter or gaskets etc. This is non-sense that they make you pay for it. First a critical part fails due to manufacturing defect, then you have to suffer through towing the bike and all other stuff and on top of it they make you shell out money. Bajaj should have done everything for free and should apologize to you for all the inconvenience.

        Hi Red,
How much did the bag cost you?

I think all Pulsars came with dual horns (except our NS). My friend owns a 1st generation Pulsar 150 (stock came with single horns and twin horns were an option back then) and it has dual horns. Another one of my friends own a 2012 Pulsar 150, also with twin horns. But I genuinely feel that older Pulsars have louder horns than the newer ones. And I have never seen a Pulsar with a single horn (barring our NS).

I have installed a pair of Roots Windtone horns along with a relay so that it would not fry any of the stock wires and switch. Its rather loud. They are fixed with the upper bolts of the crash guards on both sides. Its been 3 months now, still working good as new.
Cost me around 600 Rs. I did the installation on my own. So saved some money there.

A few single horns (might be available in both high and low tones):
        Hella Midi Silver (high tone)
        Hella Black Thunder (high tone)
Hella Blaster (high tone and low tone)
        Roots Vibromax
        Roots Megasonic

Trumpet horns like the Roots Windtone are available only in pairs. Sad.

Even i agree completely here..... IF the issue had not been there you wouldnt have had to spend even one rupee.... so here you should not be paying even for any of the oil....

Its a good bag for someone who want to ride solo. Sadly...
I am looking for a nice tail bag. Its the best option for riding with pillion.

            Did you buy it online??

And whom did you talked to @Sai Services Kothrud??

Funny thing, when I talked to one of the Quality engg from Bajaj during the NS camp, about the horns, he said the horns are specifically designed for NS...LOL Bajaj specifically designed inadequate horns for NS...he said same thing for RVMs....ha ha...

Now the next thing on my list is the fatter MRF Revz-C 150/60 ,which would take a while .

              Costs : Mount Work : 200 bucks
              Modified No. plate : 50
hmm. looks good no doubt. but NS' original number plate hanger looked damn sexy too.
I'd do such jobs only on bikes like 220f which come with that big rear fender.
btw, reflectors have great importance during night time, (ofc you know this more than I do heh)

              • Rear Disc Noise and vibrations

                hey guys !

I got my 200ns (blue) on feb 15.. In the beginning alot of people complained about bent rear disc plate ... i too had a similar problem ... when i complained about this at SVC they said that its the pad that's been making the noise .. and it would be gone after few days of running .. i wasn't satisfied with the answer they gave !

After few days i went to a known local mechanic here .. he removed the rear wheel and assembled it again .. after that the noise was gone .. I feel that it was a problem of wheel alignment (my opinion)..

But there's one issue from the beginning i have alot of vibrations felt through handlebar and rear seat.. especially between 4k-6k and then @ 10k ..
1st servicing is done @ 450 kms .. changed oil , oil filter etc .. oil used was the DTS-i oil .. run-in was done perfectly... never crossed 5k rpm in 6th gear all shifts done @ 4k .. most of run-in was done on highways.. occasionally revved a little to upto 6k... rest everything's fine ..

PS- new to xbhp .. so i am not quite aware about posting rules !!

I think you can order it online from viaterra - Luggage Solutions for Motorcycles
In pune it is also available at DSG outlet in Camp (lane next to Marzorin)

Nilesh, for managing luggage with pillion, see the saddlebags (2500) at the above link.. I know one ninja owner who went touring with his wife and these kind of bags.. The DSG guy has the saddle bags if you want to try them on your bike with a pillion..

                      Hello Vivek,
Welcome to xbhp and I see that this is your first post!
Good that the noise from the rear discs are ok now.
Under seat and handle bar vibrations are typical NS issues that almost every member here has experienced. There are rubber grommets fixed at various locations to reduce vibrations. I don't know if these are now fixed from the factory itself. You would have to check with the service to ensure these are fixed.
The rubber grommets do not eliminate vibes but minimise the vibes. Rubber absorbs vibrations and minimise further spreading.

Vibration issues have been discussed in this thread many times. Researching previous posts will definitely help you in find appropriate solutions and fixes to many issues related to the NS.
All the best and enjoy your NS!!

Hmm...seen those already...I like the Givi bags...but they are quite costly. So finally I will have to settle for something like this I guess. Givi Tail box is affordable though and quite a good option. Many here @xBHP have it, and I saw one guy got it from Pune only. Have PMed him about the shop where he got it from. Lets see.

I was there a long time after you guys left. Had a long test drive with the Quality Engg. Discussed a lot of stuff. He assured me that the engine is alright. Then I asked him about the horns and RVMs again. That time he said those things to me. After you guys left even TVS guy also came. Talked to him about tires. I talked to other NS owners as well. Many had complaints regarding rear tire grip. But the TVS guy only talked about miscellaneous stuff rather than answering straightaway. He checked tire pressures of few bikes. One guy had 45psi in rear tire. So the TVS guy gave a lecture on tire pressure.

                        Replies in Bold..

I am quite uncomfortable with those flat mirror RVMs. Got to get some decent convex mirror RVMs. I can't ride with full confidence without good RVMs.

And about horns, well even some scooty owners have louder horns..LOL Its really embracing...kidding..

One thing I dont like is the placement of the front number plate. I am not sure of Bujaj guys thought that through. I have seen some users putting the registration plate on top of the headlight (D200 style). Can some-one share that mod about how to do it?

Also, my bike is due for first-service in few days. Are there any particular things that I need to ask the SVC people personally?
                            Can someone please help me?

                              Congrats on the new bike..

Regarding mounting the number plate on the headlight - this was done only on the pre production test bikes (Ref below pic from http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/first-im...sar-200ns.html)
In my opinion it looks worse that the current position of the number plate.. I would suggest going for a sticker on the front mud guard.. It cost me Rs. 50 in pune.

If you still want to go ahead with it, the base mounting for this kind of assembly is present under the fairing.. You have two small screws to remove (left screw shown in pic)

Once the screws are removed, you can easily remove the fairing and get a bracket welded/attached to the base mounting by any local mechanic

                              As for 1st service
                              - If you have vibes in the front assembly, ask them to put double sided tape
                              - Ask if they have the new tank kit screws (bajaj released new longer screws and washers for the older NS - since your bike is new, it might have come factory fitted)

Other than that nothing much to be done in 1st service.. have patience till the run-in period is over
