43-45 @65-75?? That's phenomenal buddy....as your carburetor is replaced, may be the settings are not done as per the stock carburetor that's why you facing issues with pick-up.Originally posted by spknair View PostPlease don't.
My NS is now 3000 on ODO & I will not recommend it to anybody
even though it is giving best in class handling & unbelievable petrol mileage among Pulsar's(180,200,220,NS)........
take a test ride before booking. If you don't have any problem with vibrations, then its the best Pulsar
everybody says about body panel vibrations & how to get rid off. But it is not the truth. NS's engine vibrates a lot which is unbearable.
Some times it happens at all RPM levels. Mine is vibe free only between 5-5.5K rpm
by going through this thread you can understand that missing is a common phenomena.
My advice is that before registering your bike, take it to above 7K rpm @ sixth gear to check this. dont bother about running-in its only for seconds& will not harm your bike.
SVC guys replaced my carburetor. now pickup is low. but neat mileage of 43-45. on my average riding speed of 65-75
We can only adjust clutch lever play, right?
not stiffness.
The bike is not all that bad buddy for 1Lakh...most of the times its the issue with tuning of the bike which SVC guys don't do full-heartedly..and your case might be one-off case..every mass-manufactured things would have such faulty pieces..
Buddy, just file a complaint on Bajaj Website for this issues of yours...In my experience they do pressurize the SVCs for better service..I hope your bike will become normal as you had it before...
And i think one can change the way clutch engages...smoothly or suddenly...by changing engine side settings..for free play there is lever side settings..Please correct me if I am wrong....
Tons of info already available on xBHP. Just give a search in DYI section. Use google, (chain maintenance + xBHP) it will take only a second..Originally posted by sara2868 View PostGood Morning all !
could any one suggest me what to do for chain maintenance .
Is there anything we have to do periodically .. ? please suggest and also suggest with product details ..
And also regarding seat im planning to changing the cushion so any suggestion related to this also will be much appreciated
Many thanks in advance !
Ummm....Rich mixture??? Not sure about it though...Originally posted by sara2868 View Postsome times my engine get turned off when i suddenly rise the acceleration. sound like "buck" and engine turned off . :P

Firstly, even I wouldn't recommend NS to a loud showoff hooligan rider / someone who plans to abuse it for a year or two / someone with a small brain.Originally posted by spknair View PostMy NS is now 3000 on ODO & I will not recommend it to anybody

Maybe you wouldn't recommend it to anybody because you're generalising the issues you're facing with all other NSes. It's not true.
Secondly, it's not the ENGINE VIBRATIONS you feel, but it's the REST OF THE BODY resonating to the piston's movement. Check the part in bold, you yourself have mentioned the bike is vibe free at ~5k rpm. It's all resonance, my friend. The plastic panels / panel holders have unfortunately been faulty (which is specific to your bike). Many owners will agree with me that, post filling FS oil and a well maintained drive chain, the ride is smooth. You have a good mileage thanks to a lean AFR setting. But any engine on a lean setting is bound to run a bit vibey and hot.Last edited by Aditya N Bharadwaj; 03-19-2013, 01:45 PM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Its my normal petrol mileage before& after carburetor change. That is why I mentioned about the speed which is most fuel economical. be sure, slowly rev the engine to get that speed. obviously I haven't any city traffic like metros
I have been getting pickup of a P180 after carburetor change, which is not at all bad, right?
& I am happy with that pickup on this mileage. reserve to reserve method is best in my knowledge to get accurate mileage. I have been checking with every fuel fill-up.
The bike is not all that bad buddy for 1Lakh...

Both are same, right? two ends of a single cable

Dear Aditya, may be I am totally fed-up with my piece of S***. That is why I answered like that. and its a personal opinion.

Why plastic parts vibrating? by engines vibe, right? So basically its engine mounting or ______ I don't know.. is faulty. Next generation NS may be fault free
Can we have to keep 5K rpm all the time? practically, a big NO.

will a lean setting causes vibes??
thanks for the info
as I said mine has 3K on Odo. only once i had heard the sound of fan. So I am thinking its not more in leaner side
& I have been getting good low end torque after replacing carburetor
I had made a drive from Malappuram to Calicut (medical college), which is 55-60 KMs journey, within 40 minutes without pillion.
It is single lane highway without dividers.
may be i had maintained more than 120 KM/hr average. I don't care about at that time & I haven't looked to speedo even a single time
after journey, may fan was doesn't working. may be by a faulty fan.
All my replays are in bold.....Last edited by spknair; 03-19-2013, 02:19 PM.I wish if I am the only rider in roads !!!!!

Per the user manual, the chain must be cleaned and lubed every 500 kms. But if the bike is used in very dusty climates or where it rains a lot, the chain must be cleaned and lubed at a shorter interval.Originally posted by sara2868 View PostGood Morning all !

I am sure you have done some research by searching the web and xbhp of course! People use various items like kerosene, petrol, WD40, branded chain cleaners etc. for cleaning the chain. I think WD40 is too strong for chain cleaning.
Now, I use Motul Chain Clean and Motul Chain Lube Road. But these are on the expensive side. Cost was Rs 450 and Rs 510 respectively for 400ml spray cans, in Trivandrum. The dealer always gives me discount.
When I used to own an FZ, I used to use simple coconut oil (because of cost constraints) to clean the chain, it dislodges grime and dirt quite well and then wipe the chain clean with clean cloth. I was using an Indian made lube called Release-On R 840 lube for my old FZ. But this was so sticky and messy and attracted a lot dust and dirt. So, never bought Release-On again. But it was a good lube.
Oils cannot be used to lube O-ring chains. Recently, upon my second service, I inquired about what is being used for chain lube. The guy said: "We use gear oil. But we also use spray as well". I asked, which is better and he did not have a clue. I told him to use spray.Last edited by danny king; 03-19-2013, 02:45 PM.Your bike is a part of you....

I didn't say keep it at 5k. I'm not sure what oil you are using. Oil does have a say in overall vibrations. Motul FS is a good choice after 5000 kms. See if you find any change after using that.
IMO you shouldn't simply sit back and call this bike a piece of s***. I too had unimaginably high vibrations at ~2000 kms on the odo. They keep smoothening out as you hit some more kilometers. In the meantime, keep a check on the numerous bolts on the bike and get faulty parts (which in your case are the inexpensive plastic ones) replaced. Pressurise the svc if you want the most out of your bike.

I remember you had mentioned somewhere that you don't usually experience heavy traffic. You would hear the fan if your bike is kept on idle in bumper-to-bumper traffic but not while riding continuously. In reality, it's working but it's inaudible. You also mentioned you rode 55-60 km at a constant 120 km/h approx. If the fan wasn't working, you'd find the high engine temperature icon flashing on your console after just a few kms. Since you didn't mention that, I can assume it didn't flash so cheers, your fan is working.

Brand? Local brand. Temporary arrangement.Originally posted by somen1984 View PostThese looks good to me. What is the name of the brand ? I will try looking in Mumbai. Spec ??
The pack didn't even have the mrp on it. But the electrician is a good friend and he said he'd make sure the HID works fine for a few months atleast. It would be a waste if I bought a very expensive branded HID / projector and later realise the battery can't take it. That's why the cheapo kit for now.
Now that things are fine, I'm confirmed with the 12V 8Ah battery's capability and would go for a branded one like hella or morimoto in a while. Funny part is, I don't even remember the name of that local brand.
Specs:
Socket type: H4
Colour: White with a slight bluish tinge.
Temperature: 6000K
Price: 1500 bucks.Last edited by Aditya N Bharadwaj; 03-19-2013, 06:27 PM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Try asking the svc personnel to re-calibrate your CDI during the next service. Or better yet, first replace it with one from another NS and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't,then get it replaced under warranty. The CDI in the NS is super-susceptible to anything ranging from dust specks to water droplets. I hope there are going t be loads of aftermarket maps for the NS CDI.Originally posted by broken87 View PostI know exactly what you're talking about. I've had this issue since day 1 & it's still there.
small hope though.

Sure. The CDI stands for Capacitive Discharge Ignition. Basically it means that the ignition system (in carbed bikes) is actuated by the charging and discharging of a current through a capacitor. As the discharge spark is very short, this allows for precise firing of the spark plug (spark plugs in this case) which in turn, helps control the throttle response at the particular engine rpm. So,when the CDI malfunctions,a plethora of problems show up.Originally posted by sara2868 View PostCould you be able to elaborate CDI ?

Some others had also posted about this
I had sold out my old Unicorn due to this defect, which can't be repairable.
Still Unicorn's are brought by poor fellows
Since the defect is not corrected by Honda.
PS:- Still I love Unicorn, which is unbeatable within 150cc commuter bike, except that missing
