  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS

Hey guys, I've seen some of you mention vibes in the range of 4k to 5k RPM, is it just vibes or is there any rattling like that typical of the P220F? I ask this because I could live with just a few vibes but definitely don't want to experience any rattling whatsoever again in my life.

Also, is the engine as smooth or refined as a yamaha? Or is it more like the P220?

    Thanks in advance.

Dont rip your bike often, every once in a while going above 7k rpm for a couple of seconds is ok. Do a proper running in, change the engine oil after 100 km is possible to a better oil like Motul 3100 20W50 and enjoy your ride.

Keep posting your experiences and some pics as well.

Thanks for the reply, i guess your right, i will follow your advice regarding the run in period, and will changing the oil other than the Dtsi oil void the warranty? i mean will the mechanics know when i give it for the first service??

Yeah I heard 7100 is better but can it survive 8k kms?! And I've never heard of 300v doing that to the clutch. It can be used in engines with wet clutch can't it? Thanks for the suggestion btw.

They are just vibrations, irritating in the beginning, but which smoothen out over time and kilometers. But they definitely aren't like the fairing noise from P220. The engine, well, it can be compared to the R15's refinement, but not the hondas or the rest of the pulsars.
All in all, it's a good package, an excellent first bike and a considerable upgrade if you're coming from a puny ~110cc motorbike.

Whoa! Thats news (for me)! Who was the unlucky chap?
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Is the play in your Throttle harder than it was when new? if yes then have the throttle cable checked and get it oiled if you can, if it doesn't work then try reverting back to the stock oil, i havent heard anyone having problems with the Motul oil.

well dont know about others but my 7100 is now close to 5.5k after yesterday's small ride and as i told you it doesn't even seem like its used up half... its still a lot better than a new dtsi oil... it will run for more 2.5k kms easily and might be stretched even further... but that doesnot mean that everyone will use it for 10k kms.. do keep a watch on the condition

well a lot of people who used 300v stays away from it now because it weakens the clutch to a good extent... i didn't trust when 2 of my friends told that their clutches are gone after using 300v but when more people started complaining, i started to doubt... then a few days ago i heard some senior bikers of kolkata too talking regarding this matter... and this happens only in pulsars... but again two classic pulsar owner is using it and nothing is wrong.... so many people cant be wrong i guess....

Even i am thinking of getting the 300V this coming winter so can you spread more light on why it reduces clutch life and how?

Then that is the culprit. To confirm this i would suggest to clean the under-belly of your engine and surrounding areas like exhaust etc with a de-greaser / kerosene and then wash it with car wash shampoo so that all the oily residue goes off. Also open and clean the front sproket area as a lot of dirt / grime and lubricant stick there. Take an old rag and clean the chain so that any excess oil comes off it and then go for a ride and then see if the smell still comes, if it doesnt then you can breath easy.

                          • Reg Brake Oil

As my front brake has lost its bite i was checking the brake oil level and found out that the Rear brake oil can be seen in the brake oil reservoir as reddish in color, but the front brake oil cannot be seen, its like no oil is there or its sort of transparent.... is the same with everyone or my front brake oil is over????

                            • Hi friends,

I happened to notice something in the owners manual today: (I don't know if this was addressed here before)

The 2nd and 3rd free service coupons show that the 2nd and 3rd free services must be availed within 4500 kms to 5000 kms and 9500 kms - 10000 kms respectively. But the number of days appear 240 from the date sale for both. Which ever occurs first. This is approximately 8 months from the date of sale.
Does this mean that the 2nd and 3rd services must be completed within 240 days even if the bike does not complete for the afore mentioned kms.
Obviously, it means the 2 free services must be done within 240 days from the date of sale. But I wanted to know if any one has observed this 'catch'.

I have emailed Bajaj on this as well. Awaiting their response.

The paid service coupons all show 120 days from the previous services (of the kms are given as well).

                              • Hi. I owned the P200 NS and rode it extensively for 5 months covering 7500+ kms. My experience with this bike is that its just not worth it. Excessive hype has been created with respect to the 200 NS but the bike is extremely vibey. Going for a meager 170 km trip to Pune was also a pain simply because of the excessive vibrations throughout the RPM range from 6000 RPM onwards. The seat, tank, handlebars as well as the foot-pegs are subjected to terrific vibes; eventually makes the rider too tired to ride. Even my pillion used to complain of vibes under her seat. The 200NS has a steady rear mono-shock which aides its handling characteristics but the same is very uncomfortable when travelling over road undulations and rough patches.
