anyways...its good that there's no sound now.

    • @ankur- well thats a big problem. Posting pics... I dont have a pc and my cell phone does not allow uploading pics in xbhp for some unknown reasons.... If you are in fb, you can see the pics there @aditya: basically any mod you do is illegal and so are hid even with projectors.... If you want style, its projector and if you want pure light, then just plonk in a hid in stock reflector and adjust the focus to increase visibility and decrease glare.... How much costly a projector be, it will never match the output of a hid in desi reflector.... 6000k hid is more of a mental thing which will feel like it have awesum visibility in street under street light because of the light color....and once you hit the highway you will find the visibility is much less than you expected but better than stock.... My 4300k is a bit different (though i think its a 4000k)... You will find the light output very less on city roads but when its completey dark or when i hit the highway i feel like a king.... One flashing along with two 55w fogs is enough to scare lorry drivers and give way.... so depending on your need, you have to choose.... But cheap 4300k will have bluish light but a costly one will have a yellowish tinge on the light...mine have a mix of yellow, green and white.... And cops wont even feel that its a hid....

I want a really good low beam for I mostly will be in the city and I won't find open empty roads at night to rip away. Anything better than stock will do and I care quite a bit about looks so the projector fits my requirement! Thanks for the advice!

@ankur2smart, yesterday, saw my chain was as dry as a desert and it had been more than 700 kms since I had last cleaned and lubed my chain. Was short of money and desperately needed a lube so picked up a cheap local lube named 'chain magic' and guess what? *Mind Blown!* It performs better than the Oks chain lube I had before. Before, the chain sound would appear after a few kms of riding but today, rode about 100 kms after lubing and yet no sound! The kat kat has reduced considerably, though it's still there. This lube is much thicker than oks so it was much less messier around the chain. What's even better is that I got more quantity of lube for the money. I've never used motul chain lube so I dunno if it's better or not. This is the first time I'm impressed by a local product! A must try for you!
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

        • Hey guys.... I've clocked 4000km... Running on Motul 5100 now..... I noticed a TAK TAK sound from the fuel tank last week,... Today,i felt dat d sound is a lot louder....

I took d bike to a mechanic(who workd at Bajaj n left d SVC after fighting with d service manager ). He strippd the bike. He even shook the fuel tank. Nothing was there, In d end,he made rubber pads for the places where metal comes in contact with the fibre. I did not hear the same sound after that, But,just now, it has started again!!!! Dont know what to do! Is anybody else facing the same issue??

And the headlamp unit vibration s increasing day by day!! I hear the irritating vibrations even at 45kmph. Any way to stop it?

          Someone please help!!!!
Its not the speed.....it is all about the skill !!!!

          • Okay... here goes....

I usually drive my bike at around 80kmph, and sometimes push it to 95+(around 6k RPM@6th gear, for a few seconds). After first service, around 500km on ODO, I ripped my bike like crazy for two days. The bike never felt the same again, it vibrated like crazy for a week after that. But now ODO is 1000kms and the vibes have come down a lot... almost none in the morning when everything is cold. But they get increase with increase in temperature(ie after 15kms of continuous driving around the city). Pulsar180 and ApacheRTR180 beat my bike(they ride alone, but I take a pillion with me and don't push the bike beyond 6kRPM)... is this normal? Or has my bike lost power?

What do you reckon? How damaged is my bike? Is it reversible? Or am I a goner?

And people.... please don't come to me with a smirk on your face saying "read the manual".

            • Guys can anyone tell me the cost of ns clipon handlebar and also the stock crach protectors. I met with an accident which caused a bent leftside clipon. The stock tires are the worst, it just gave away due to some sand on the road. I escaped with some minor scratches miraculously. It would be good if u suggest any other crach protectors. Looking forward to ur reply guys...

400 for the handle bar single side i suppose
110 for one side leg/crash guard

u have to get custom made crash guards if u dont want to use the ones which bajaj provides for NS....however i believe they are very good..they do get bent or destroyed in a crsh but dont let the bike get harmed in any way...if u still wanna check try and see if dukes crash guards work for NS

and for loosing tyre grip...try front brake more than rear...it most of the times solves 50% of the problems

It's irreversible bro... What you have done to your engine is done.. 2 days of ripping during run-in... Would have caused some damage to engine.. Tats the cause for vibrations... May be a slight loss of power.. Thera no Way to fix it unless you go for new bike.. Atleast you can reduce vibrations by using good oil like Motul...

Mostly Run-in gets over by 500 km... So you have done only a little damage... So take care....
                  Cheers

                  • My suggestion Zapper Q

I have installed MRF Zapper Q @ d rear 130/70 best of both worlds, medium compound & best dry & wet grip.

When finally decided this tyre is in huge demand , no where available in Delhi , had 2 go 34 kms @ badarpur in delhi only one piece available rest out of stock.

Revz s available every where , excellent grip , but Puncture or nail magnet.

My suggestion Zapper Q. Rest up 2 u.

                    bye

Can't resist, just go through the manual for run in speeds

In my opinion, nothing much would have happened for you to be worried sick about. Yes, like siddharthsure said, the continuous ripping would have taken a toll on the engine, like improper rubbing of the piston on the cylinder walls. The results? Improper ring seal and a reduced fuel efficiency with more vibes and more oil consumption. But it's not much to worry about IMHO. I have a duker friend whose been ripping since day 1 and yet pampered the engine with the best oils and regular services. His bike's got a considerable amount of vibes but it still revs like crazy and easily hits the rev limiter in all gears. Now my post doesn't mean you should continue ripping. That would be like child abuse since it's at such an early stage. 7k rpm during run-in for short periods AFTER THE ENGINE'S WELL WARMED UP is just fine.

                        Hope you didn't redline.
                        Cheers!

P.S. Any IC engine is a bliss to run in cold temperatures, because the air is denser which means more oxygen per unit volume so better fuel combustion. That's probably why you feel the bike's running well in the mornings

                          Thank you for the answers

If you mean redlining as 10kRPM, no I didnt redline. I hit 9k a few times for a few seconds thats it. But for the most part i ripped my bike to 8k during the 2 days.

So reduced mileage and more vibes is my only concern? Should I be worried about reduced power and speed?

BTW, I am now comfortable with front brakes, and I have reduced the rear brake's power during first service. This means I haven't had the rear tire skidding since. And I can shed speeds rapidly very easily and comfortably

Its not about reaching 9k RPM... It's how you reach that.Sudden acceleration to 9k will cause damage, while taking it easily to 9k won't do tat much.. By what you say I think you have accelerated rapidly to 9k for 2 days, which would have caused some damage and will result in slightly low mileage and vibes.. Maybe Loss of power and burning of oil as combustion gasses enter crankcase through improperly sealed rings.. Not to worry that much... Take care till 1000km.. Stop worrying, done is done.. Enjoy your bike...

How noticeable will be the loss of power?

BTW I have completed 1000km on odo. Does that mean run in is over?

Not tat much as you say like "apache and pulsar 150 beat me and all" very slight difference as you have ripped only after 500 on odo.. I hope you did the first 500 correctly atleast.

And yes the Run-in is over.. You can take it to higher Rpm's now but don't take it immediately.. Take it slowly and btw first service done??? If not do it ASAP as it needs oil and oil filter change... Also as you have ripped take care of the oil level. Check it periodically.. If it's not burning oil that much, you have caused only very little damage... Whatsoever it's time to enjoy your bike now... Forget everything and go take a ride
