  • Had finished 740kms and was 22 days old... Gave the bike for first service to Popular Bajaj (Bannerghatta Road) Bangalore, from where I bought the bike..

They gave the bike in the evening... Rs.700 is the charge...

I use the bike to commute to office daily... I found the bike's tune to be messed up, with inconsistent idle rpm to engine behaviour... used to go off some 30 times before I reach office..

In a couple of days vibrations started creeping in.. the gear shifts had become loud and inconsistent.. had a false neutral too for the first time...

The bike's vibration head to tail was the worst I have experienced anytime in my life... having ridden 100ccs to 250ccs of almost all brands.... It was matching the good old 2 strokes and the famous bullet....

Have done 999kms now.. and day before yesterday I noticed that the service center guys have happily forgotten to put any engine oil at all!!! When I check the engine oil level checker in the bottom.. I see it to be totally dried up!!!!

Kudos to Bajaj for being such an excellent company.... Really excited to be your customer...

I happened to notice something in the owners manual today: (I don't know if this was addressed here before)

The 2nd and 3rd free service coupons show that the 2nd and 3rd free services must be availed within 4500 kms to 5000 kms and 9500 kms - 10000 kms respectively. But the number of days appear 240 from the date sale for both. Which ever occurs first. This is approximately 8 months from the date of sale.
Does this mean that the 2nd and 3rd services must be completed within 240 days even if the bike does not complete for the afore mentioned kms.
Obviously, it means the 2 free services must be done within 240 days from the date of sale. But I wanted to know if any one has observed this 'catch'.

I have emailed Bajaj on this as well. Awaiting their response.

The paid service coupons all show 120 days from the previous services (of the kms are given as well).
      Hi Danny,
Even I have noticed this in the manual, this has been already discussed in this thread you can find the details on page 868 by mayak.travadi..i hope this will help you.

Excessive hype has been created with respect to the 200 NS but the bike is extremely vibey. Going for a meager 170 km trip to Pune was also a pain simply because of the excessive vibrations throughout the RPM range from 6000 RPM onwards. The seat, tank, handlebars as well as the foot-pegs are subjected to terrific vibes; eventually makes the rider too tired to ride. Even my pillion used to complain of vibes under her seat. The 200NS has a steady rear mono-shock which aides its handling characteristics but the same is very uncomfortable when travelling over road undulations and rough patches.
      Hi madreeto,
I feel the vibrations are common in the range of 4,000 to 5,000 rpm to my notice and I am not sure why you are feeling such vibrations on the whole bike. I think the engine vibrations are being completely transferred to the chasis. Just ride any other 200ns of you friends and see if you feel the same. I am advising you because I haven't felt any thing with my 200ns.

So basically get the 2nd service within the 4th month of purchase and 3rd by the 8th month if you are sure you aren't gonna complete the km distance specified..

My bike is 4 months old and I managed to run 4200 km.. so 2nd service done approx at the right time..

your disc-plate is tilted.so it is causing friction between discplate and the metallic surface in calliper instead of disc-pad,get it corrected.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Is it a squeak or a screech?

If its squeaking, its probably dust between the pads. Get it air blown. Also, maybe the pads are always in touch with the disc due to over tightening. Ask the SVC to look into it.
And, if its a screech, then its an improperly aligned or bent disc.

Check if the tire moves 70% as free as a drum braked bike. For instance, if I rotate a Karizma ZMA rear tire (drum), it rotates 3 turns. Then, with a similar force, it should rotate about 2 turns on the ZMR (disc). ---> this crude example is for illustration purpose only.

In case it doesn't fit in the 70% criteria, your brake pads may be in touch with the disc all the time. Get it loosened a bit.

Yes, you can. (assuming NS supports H4 type bulbs)

Try riding the bike for 2-3km without using rear brakes AT ALL. As soon as you get off, touch the disc (with your hand) to gauge its temperature. If it is still getting hot, you have a problem. If it isn't and is close to ambient temperature, you need not worry. The noises hapen when the disc and the brake pads both are new, as they break into each other, the noises will disappear.

Even I was worried about the same things when my bike was new (back in 2009) but then I gave it to my friend who was a bit more experienced than I was and did a similar exercise. It turned out that nothing was wrong, no more heartburn since that day .

It has been more like 1 * 360 degree rotation in 1 push for my bike all its life. +1 to the rest of it.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
