Can anyone suggest better brake pads for NS? Its time for replacement and i would like to go for better bite if possible.

Also, do 220 and NS share same sized brake pads?

On my NS some small part of paint from engine has peel off but its okies to me. I've saw Duke 200 and CBR 250R paint peel off from engine which gave me a relief. Maybe cuz of brake fluid or poor quality.Don't expect the best but its good enough. Hope its durable enough to handle atleast 3 years of sun and rain.

So off-late i have come across some problems with my bike.
        (1) The idling RPM climbs up to 2.5k when the bike is ridden for some distance.
        (2) There is some metallic sound coming from the cylinder when the engine is idling at 2.5k (i dont really know how to describe the sound)
        (3) At lower speeds i think i can hear the chain rumble..the O ring portion. The bike has only done 1460km as of now.

Any insights on these problems will be helpful!
        Thanks.

Not that the CBR was any better. The only redeeming point of the Honda being that, on a long highway ride, with Motul 300V flowing through its veins and the engine nicely warmed up, the shifts were utterly smooth. It was literally like hot knife through butter. Of course I don't have any point of reference to the other two bikes since I am still on Motul 5100 on the 200NS and never took the R15 off the Yamalube diet. I'll see how the 200NS fares once I get it on the 300V diet. But the R15 was still pretty good even on the Yamalube though.

Never used any other brand of oil other than Castrol, which I didn't like, so I'm a poor candidate for comparing brands.
Not sure about 300V, in fact I think it might be overkill. Motul 7100 does it absolutely fine & gearshifts are positive without false neutrals, if not butter smooth.

Bro, ur bike needs an AFR tuning , that will fix the idling issue, sound from chain will reduce when you lube it

                  The differences being:
                  • The 200NS engine is much smoother than the P220 engine. But I think you already know that.
                  • Much less prone to engine fatigue than the P220. I've had this problem with the P220 after some hard day's riding. Much less so with the 200NS.
                  • Way better handler than either the CBR250R or the P220. The CBR is stable and is a good handler but is just not as light to flick around. While the P220 just felt woolly in comparison. It was stable, but at faster corner speeds you could feel the chassis flexing.
                  • Riding within the city is also a breeze compared to the other two due to the much more flickable nature. Plus the engine is tractable enough, just not as strong low down in the rpms as the other two. But I adjusted.
                  • I initially felt that the suspension was too stiff. But with time it loosens up somewhat and is much better with a pillion, though still a bit stiff for a single rider. I'd suggest not to adjust the stiffness because then it'll make it a bit soft for two-up riding.
                  • Miss my P220's headlights though. Still one of the best headlights on an Indian bike.
                  • I also don't like that the 200NS is a lot more susceptible to crosswinds than the other two faired bikes. But I guess this is true for most Indian unfaired bikes.
                  • The seat is comfortable enough, but does not have as much space as the CBR to move your butt around. I found it a bit more comfortable than the P220.
                  • Much better brakes than either the CBR or the P220.

My initial considerations for a replacement for the CBR had been the R15, 200NS, and the D200.

I enjoyed the R15's handling the most. Never had a cause for worry with it during the 1.5 years I used my friend's bike. But I needed more poke than the bike could give in terms of power.

The D200 had the power and the handling but it was not pillion friendly. I tried the pillion seat for a few kilometers and I've never sat on the back of a Duke again. I do occasionally have to carry the missus and it just wouldn't do.

The 200NS satisfied my criteria better than the others in terms of handling, cost, and comfort, and so I bought it. Plus it much, much cheaper to service than a CBR250R.

The Honda spare parts cost you an arm and the labour costs a leg. I wouldn't have minded it if the parts quality was par for the prices they charge, but they weren't. In my experience, Yamaha gives you the best quality parts vis-a-vis prices. Bajaj has always been known to have affordable spare parts prices.

The above are my opinions, others' might differ. Plus you might have different needs than mine. All in all, during my 5 months of ownership and 4,000kms of riding, I've never had cause for complaint. It's been working like tick-tock. But I do detest windy days though, and that's the only time I miss the P220 and the CBR250R.

Very nice explanation. A big thumbs up from my side.

Can you put a bit of light on vibrations part of p200ns as compared to CBR 250R...??? Also, I would like to know why you switched from CBR to P200

                    Guys,
I'm getting metallic friction sound from within the engine(The top part). Its not loud though, it can be heard only when you're very close to engine head. Could it be the tappet? and bike is getting very harsh and vibey day by day. The AFR is ideal and bike is running on motul 5100(replaced oil filter, too).

Have you checked that maybe it is the engine running in itself. .?

Technically, if you paint your bike, you have to 're register.
                        Wrap/sticker doesn't count.

Rejoined this site after ages and here's my first post on this site

Purchased my Pulsar 200 NS (Red) in Dec 2012. Patiently kept the speeds below 40-45 kmph until the first 1000 kms and it has not disappointed me once since then. Power is quite adequate for city commutes and more than decent on highways.

Two things that I was a little annoyed about are the seriously bad "Euroslips" which caused me to skip a few heartbeats on a couple of occasions and the wobble in crosswinds.

1: Changed my rear tyre to the MRF Dhoom edition for 3800/- Yeah yeah...laugh at the name but the tyre seemed to have good grip and since the Pirelli Speed Demon wasn't available when I went to get it, closed on the MRF. The ride quality has increased tremendously and am more confident at higher speeds. I can also feel the improvement in ride when I go over the many pot holes in Mumbai or the occasional speed bump that appears out of nowhere on highways. Height has increased a bit as noticed by my regular pillion.

2: Big Thanks to all the seniors here for their suggestions and DIY tips. Saw a DIY post on fixing a Yamaha Fazer windshield/visor on a KTM duke and since the Duke and NS share similar bodystyles, have picked up the fazer visor for my bike. Will be fixing the visor shortly to help reduce fatigue on long rides as well as to help with stability in high winds. Will post the pics once fixed

Anyone tried the KTM or any other knuckle guards for their NS?? KTM guards cost about 2.5k in Mumbai. Was wondering if any other bikes guard is available at a more reasonable price i.e. 1k-1.5k . Saw the Impulse guards as well but not sure how they would look / function on the NS. Considering the amount of Bajaj bikes being sold, specially the Pulsars, the shortage of after market additions is very annoying with us having to resort to parts from other bikes or "juggad" of some sort.

Any advise is appreciated. Thank you xbhp for an Awesome community where we can share/seek advise on bikes/trips/gear. Surprisingly, information on Indian bikes and gear available is very hard to come across even today. So a site like this is really a blessing.

I can tell you that there is a bit more buzz coming through the handles compared to the CBR, but not overly so. It was noticeable to me because I was coming from the CBR, which is a very smooth operator in any comparison. It's certainly the best Bajaj bike out there in terms of refinement.

To put it philosophically, I did not like the CBR because I felt it was too clinical. It does everything well with no vices, and some thing better than the 200NS, but it had no character either.

In other words, I felt no connection with it.
