I had to blip the throttle completely to get decent acceleration with a pillion on my back, even that didn't satisfy me. While if you do that full throttle on NS, it pulls & accelerates both rider & pillion to a scary level. The brakes weren't good. Also the bike just felt light, small The only good thing was the handle bar position. Also the gear shifting that was sooooo much better than NS.
R15 v2 also felt unimpressive even at full throttle.. but riding was smooth & vibration free.. sweet gear shifts. Ultra light handling seemed one of it's plus points .. I was actually wobbling the bike at first cause I couldn't get used to fairings. & brakes also were terrific like NS. But overall still unimpressed with the power delivery & feeling.
Today I realized why happy NSians call NS a monster (which I sometimes felt was an exaggeration), why it has been received so well by everyone. It's such an amazing bike to have.
Respect for all other bikes ! & love love love for NS
Very true. NS is my first bike so just after buying it, I couldn't subconsciously compare it to any other. I did feel it to be way better than my previous mule scooty pep+ . Anyway, by the time the running in was done, I got a chance to ride R15, 220 and Apache 180. Ripped all those bikes along with mine and I could easily feel the difference! I guess I found my platinum day of love!

As per RTO rules you are not supposed to change the color of the vehicle. In any case avoid that.

Is there any change in handling or flick-abilty of the bike ?
Changed my 2500Km ran tires ( our own Eurogrip) today to Continental Contigo In the front and Pirelli Sport Demon in Back.

Hell of an improvement for the grip.. ,

Whenever i take it to SVC they say they cannot adjust anything as its disc brakes.....FYI i am close to 8K kms.... so are the brake pads worn out so soon?
Yes i am sure the disc pads are worn out, have them checked and replaced Asap

              • Doubt regarding TACHO

Guys....after riding for about a 15 mins; when you halt the NS,do you see the tachometer needle varying ???
Mine will kind of breath between 1 and 1.5 rpms.
A friend of mine pointed out this today. He showed how the tacho meter in his P220 is so constant and stable (it was @ 1.5) when he halt the bike.
Is this a NS kind of thing....or need I take it to the SVC ?

                  • 2000KMs Report.

Almost 2 months of Ownership. i have been babying the bike alot. keeping the speeds at 55 kmph. After clearing the 1000 kms I opened the throttle alot more kept the RPM needle below 7000 ( short bursts mostly). After about 1400 kms went back to commuter mode(around 55kmph). about 100kms left for the 2000kms. Planning to do a nandhi hills trip on monday morning and i have fuelled up and ready to ride hard come monday morning.
                    Fuel Efficiency. Full tank method.

i am happy to report i did 2 full tanks readings so far.

Mixed riding conditions.( includes traffic jams in the evenings, early morning empty roads, some sedate riding, some short bursts of ripping)- 39kms/l
almost perfect riding conditions.( very little incidents of riding in traffic, careful riding of 55kmph, basically not throttling hard) - 44kms/l

i did hear that squeaky noise from the back brake a couple of times. i stopped resting my leg on the back break petal even slightly and sound has never come back.
i did lube the chain after an interval of 700kms.
                    2 concerns
                    a) i am a bit concerned with the radiator. not sure if ever comes on. its difficult to be sure because of the Bangalore weather and my riding conditions being very good, plus helmet. i know it was working because i have heard come on 3 different occasions before my 1st service.
                    b) i wondering whether to play with idling and AFR because cold starts is an issue. need to always use the choke to start in the cold mornings or late nights. or wait for summer and see if the issue continues?

Bikes tuned abit lean. And 500rpm's is abit too much of variance.
Check the manifold for leaks, if its fine then retune carb.

No it's not an NS kind of thing. During cold starts mine varies very very slightly. But when warmed, it stays stable at 1.5k rpms no matter what. Get the carburettor cleaned/checked.

No need to clean it bro, just set the AFR properly using the AFR screw would do. As a general rule of thumb it is set between 2~2.5 turns, but in ZMA thread owners including myself have gone upto 4~4.5 turns on stock intake setup, without any issues, and yeah the cold starting was effortless.

So should I ask the SVC to clean the carb or fiddle the AFR ???
I've not touched the AFR screw so far...

And..can someone pls tell me what is the reason for this varying tacho needle? Mine is just 2600 kms old...Does the carb. get bad this soon ?
Also,is this something I can leave unattended ? Or should I take my NS to SVC ASAP?

This is no NS thing..it an happen with any bike and this is because of the tuning...when the mixture is lean the RPM needle varies...when rich it is stable...its not a big thing...the p220 might be feeling more responsive in low and mid range...becuase he is at a little richer than perfect mixture...turn ur AFR screw i guess left(that make it rich...confirm it though) around quater turn at a time and u too will have stable RPM needle and might have to lower the idle screw a bit to keep at 1.5 k rpm at neutral
