  • Ok guys those who are through with the free services is it necessary to stick to the remaining 3 paid services as service book? I mean do i have to stick to the number of kms mentioned for each service?

Also how much does the paid service cost?

Free Service only waves off : Labour Charges and Washing cost.

So in Paid service now Labour charges and washing charges would be added. Labour charges are different for different tasks.

I would recommend either you do basic DIY for your bikes and visit SVC regularly for other stuffs, atleast those DIY charges would not be added. Engine oil change, Coolant update, Chain washing/lubrication..etc.

But stick to durations/kms as mentioned in manual for servicing.

      • Just came back fro the SVC with an OIl change along with oil filter change..
the SVC was adamant of not changing the oil to my choice of oil (which I took with me) other than their Shitty DTSi oil..

However, with little persuasion, and friendly words, the oil was changed to MOTUL 3100 Gold with the current ODO reading being 1550 kms..

And the journey back to home from the SVC was my most pleasurable ride on my NS till date!!!!! I was smiling in my mind all the way back.. The engine felt much much smoother. Gear shift was already smooth, but now the feedback of gear change seems to Be better..Also the throttle response, and the pick-up Has been much better. Vibes At low RPMs is NIL.. (Have not taken the bike to higher RPM while coming back)

Overall highly impressed with the oil change. But lets c, for how many km this happy feeling lasts..

PS - the old DTSi oil which was changed at an interval of 1100 kms was completely black when poured out. Also it's density seemed to be quite low

Thanks somen for your reply. I like DIY stuff for others will go to SVC people and will stick to the durations / kms as mentioned in manual.

A similar question had taken place in R15V2 forum. We as owners said rely on the manual as its the best thing to do. The users manual stands perfect.

I'm afraid you dint have the users manual as an option in your query.

First get things clear with run-in, why is it needed?, How it benefits to Piston/block, etc..

MotoMan's method and Manual specified run in are two very different approach of run-in.

Run-in are always controversial. So Google it and go through the Motoman run in.

Some people use it and some don't.

So you have to decide whether to go or not. If any risk involved then you have to deal with it.

Before following it get the understanding of both the run in.

                    • Thanks for the advice on the brakes. It happened again yesterday in heavy city traffic, and the conditions were the same - overheated engine, fan running and burning smell.
I have been consciously trying to keep my foot away from the braking peg, and it hasn't happened since. But lets see.

BTW, my gearbox/chain has become very rough, as I can feel clattering and vibes around 4k RPM. But if hold the clutch and increase the RPM, the engine remains smooth with no vibes. The up-shifitng is very smooth, but the down-shifting has become extremely rough and clunky. It makes a horrible thud-clunk noise when I down-shift. Please can anyone tell me the correct method to down-shift so that I can cross-check? BTW, my oil level is above minimum mark.

Anyway, I checked mileage today.... it indicates 37kmpl. Nice City traffic.

Simply clean & lube your chain. The manual actually suggests the rider to do this every 500kms.
For the down shifting just "completely" depress the clutch & shift down.. the better you do it he better noise you'll hear. And obviously the gear shifting noise we hear when wearing a helmet is much clear & noticeable.. also bothering if it's an unpleasant sound. I don't know if it's bad or not.. it's just an unsatisfying thud sort of noise for downshift sometimes.. cos I get it too. But as I stated above...I've felt when I completely depress the clutch & wait for like half a second, then down shift.. results in a smoother shift.

if you want warranty, then you have to do the periodic services from the svc. I did my paid service and it costs 310 in kolkata... And i service my bike every 2.5k kms

                              • I was cruising at a constant 140+ on my recent ride and the engine started emitting heavy white smoke from under it.... Still dont know whats wrong.... And the coolant level has also dropped.... Btw installed a 2nd horn, two DLAA 55w fog lamps and changed the front brake pads to that of the pulsar 150 coz the ns one is not in stock.... Anyways touched a speedo indicated 157 kmph while tailing a xylo filled with chicks and then finally overtook it
