Simple. Take out the dipstick and put 1-2 drops of oil on your fingers. Rub it between the thumb and the index finger, If the oil is good (regardless of color); it will be thick and smooth.Originally posted by smrutisourav View Postmost of the fully synthetic oil, turn black or brown very quickly but retains its viscosity for very long..as per my experience..so what do
If it has gone bad, you'll feel it grainy and mixed with small dust like particles.
P.S - Wash your hands before and after the experiment.

Pulsars don't have the traditional dip stick. Howver, i think 2-3 drops can be taken from the cap alsoOriginally posted by Divya Sharan View PostSimple. @punarvasu -I get the sarcasm, But the idea ain't that bad afterall.. As for ur Question, i am still a noob rider
@Aditya and Sourav - What i suggested is just a way to check the oil. if one looks mindfully, then he can get an idea of the viscosity/density of the oil. Also As @Divyan suggested, one can get a few drops of oil from the cap, and the get the feel of it. Along with that if one has a good connection with his bike, then he will get it when it's time to change the oil.
Although i am saying this with NIL experience of FS oil. (I couldn't use it in my old bike, And I am still to use it in my NS
)
@Avinash - as ankur suggested, 300V is a FS oil, and it's not recommended to use it before completing 5-7k kms on the Odo. Rather I suggest u go for 5100. It's SemiSynthetic in nature. And as of now shift to any cheap mineral oil till ur xams gets over.sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

Hey Guys,
I am really depressed today, as for the third time the liquid coolant of my NS has vanished. I noticed it only today but I guess its vanished a week ago. Last time the SVC guys replaced a certain O-ring of the coolant pipe from where it was leaking. But now again this happened. This time I can't even see the leaked fluid anywhere on the engine parts (earlier whenever the coolant is leaked it left rusty spots on all over the engine). I don't know whether its evaporated or leaked this time. But strangely, having no coolant at all didn't really made any difference on the engine heating. It was all normal and that's why I didn't notice it. Even the fan wouldn't run any more frequently that it was earlier. The fuel efficinecy it hampered by more than 15% though.
One thing I observed that for all the three times the coolant was vanished, it was right after when I ripped (80-100) my NS on highway for about 30-40 kms. But the SVC guys say that shouldn't be the cause. I don't know what the hell is wrong. There are other bunch of issues with the bike and I am really fed up with it. Riding NS is no more fun. I hope this issue will be sorted out.
Anyone had such issue?? Any help/suggestion would be appreciated...Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

I faced this issue once, when the coolant level dropped to nil a week after my 1st svc. There is an overflow reservoir in the front and the mechanic had not connected the overflow pipe (the coolant expands when heated)Originally posted by nilesh14587 View PostHey Guys,

Take it back to them and ask them to check if all the pipes are connected properly..
Also i have noted coolant dripping out once in a similar situation as your - about one hour of traffic crawling @ 20 and immediate half hour of 80-120 blast on the highway. This has happened only once.
Got it topped up at svc and After that i have regularly driven long distances at high speeds without any coolant problems. Recently a 400km ride to malvan in one day.
Suggestions:
- Self check if all coolant pipes are connected and are not loose
- Dont know which svc you visit.. try the Sai service @ balgandharva and calmly talk to the manager about your problem. He listens well and will surely help you out.
- If possible, take your bike to svc on a weekday - less rush means the mechanics pamper your bike well. Recently before the malvan trip, i stopped at the svc on monday to get my chain tightened. In addition he topped up the coolant and did a quick tightening of the engine mounting bolts and lubed the chain. We are so busy watching out for what\'s just ahead of us, that we don\'t take time to enjoy where we are ~ Bill Watterson

It's really VFM bike.Originally posted by abilan View Postis pulsar 200 ns really a good bike bro...cause i am not rich...if i buy this bike it will be in my hand for next 6 years...so pls help me...i heard there are a lot of probs in this bike...
There is no "lot off" problems in NS.
Major issues, all are complaining is vibrations around 6K RPM, and slippy Eurogrip tyres.
Rest of problems are happening because of the using of bike.
Proper run-in followed bike will have no problems. That's for sure.
So, if you are into buying NS, we are all recommending a tyre change to a better grippy tyre.
And please follow proper run-in method and engine warming up for better life of the engine.
I know a person who done 100+ right from the showroom after taking his delivery. And now he says, NS is crap and vibrating and all... there is no point on this.sigpicUSED IN PAST: Ct100, Victor, Xcd 135For a true motorcyclist, the straight portions of the roads exist just to take him from one turn to the next!

^^^ loads of discussion going on about engine oil.
while sticking to mineral and ss till 7-8k km seems to be the general idea, you can use fs after completing run-in,no harm in it.fs oil is recommended in cbr from day one, even bajaj dtsi oil is synthetic blend.
fixed led turn indicators like duke, looks good.and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road
(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Which oil you are currently using? BAJAJ one huh?Originally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostI checked the engine oil of my NS just now & to my surprise its still in a very very good condition...no black/dark colouring at all...still in a pale yellowish colour & smells fresh too...I changed it @ 450 kms & now I'm at 3200km...will switch to Motul 5100 SS 1 litre & 200 ml DTSi 10,000 after 600-700 kms...

Well what exactly is your budget?Originally posted by abilan View Postis pulsar 200 ns really a good bike bro...cause i am not rich...if i buy this bike it will be in my hand for next 6 years...so pls help me...i heard there are a lot of probs in this bike...
About NS, the very first thing you wanna do is search a good SVC in your area. Half of the problems are happening either after services or due to great hand of BAJAJ non-NS mechanics
If SVC is not a issue for you then go for it
you won't regret it.
Dude pics pls pls :/ I have been thinking about it since long time. How much did it cost you? If i am correct as per spares rates of duke, a pair costs near 700 Rs right?Originally posted by sayank10 View Post
