The situation here is kinda weird, some service centers kind of encourage using motul as they sell it along with the Bajaj oil in their svc, while other talk about warranty being void and stuff. So what i make from it is, it's more what the svc people feel and think is right. I don't remember reading anywhere in the manual that using another oil will void the warranty, correct em if i am wrong.

      • Hey Guys this is my first post/review/experience report

first of all thanks to every one here in this thread you guys helped a lot for me to chose the NS I am TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS BIKE
just got my blue NAKEDEVIL 2 days have done roughly 120 kms haven't taken the bike above 4.5 to 5 k rpm
right now the bike is performing very well gear shifts are smooth handling is superb (THE TURNING RADIUS IS BIT LONG THOUGH ) which becomes sometimes a problem coz my building parking is very tightly packed as well as the tires are concerned they are performing very good i faced no slips I am totally satisfied with them felt once almost negligible amount of vibration at 5 k ( but only once ) the suspension is on the tougher side u an feel the bumps on bad roads (but they are good for better stability at higher speeds ) even the horn is satisfactory for me

gonna get the main stand on Monday it costed me Rs- 540

My SVC for Bajaj and Yamaha both are firm on stock oils only. It's better to go by SVC only if you thing for warranty.

Anything(mod or upgrade) is better unless you void warranty or insurance claims.

Agreed, but I bieleve there is no need to follow their drain intervals. After 2500 kms we can drain the oil and use the Bajaj oil itself, it hold good for about that much kms , and technically by pouring the bajaj oil you are not violating the warranty norms.

            • My SVC actually promotes Motul engine oils. They pour Motul only 7100 10w40 in Duke200, Kawasaki 250r/650r, 220F. Which means they use fully synthetic Motul oil in Duke200s from the very beginning.. when I inquired about this from a Mechanic who was working on a 220f.. he said 10w40 doesn't matter, only Oil itself which should be Motul 7100 only -__- ... we pour in all pro bikes here. However NS is serviced elsewhere within the SVC, I had asked the mechanics of 200NS if I can also Motul my NS, they said go by the company manual till you hit second service. At second service we will pour Motul if you wish, you're gonna have to purchase it yourself. Warranty won't be an issue. My recent visit to the SVC confirmed they're pouring Motul oil in NS, perhaps without warranty issues.. cause I saw a bottle of Motul right where all 200NS are serviced.

This is why I cancelled my oil change & I continue to ride with Bajaj oil till second service comes. Currently at 2300+kms ..

              • Is Castrol GTX 20w50 good for our bike?

Today I changed my bike's engine oil at 2600kms as the engine was becoming rough.I don't know much about engine oils..read the manual & its recommended 20w50 API SL grade..so looking at this I brought Castrol GTX 20w50..Its now I realise that this is oil used for cars.So will this damage my engine? Only my 1st service is done...currently at 2600 kms & will again change oil at 4,000kms at the SVC...so will run the bike in this oil for about 1,300kms..Till now after putting this oil the engine feels much smoother & powerful than before. Will this engine oil cause any troubles

Do not use car engine oils in bikes which have clutch plates submerged in the same oil. It will do damage

Whoa this was a long time back. Things have settled in well now and I don't have that problem.

@all, had been on a ride to madikeri with a few friends, but I didn't have a pillion. It was a ride of about 140 kms one way. I usually cruise at around 110-115 km/h for a pleasing ride. But at one point, the wind was blowing in the direction in which I was riding and I felt almost no wind resistance. That's when I decided to give it full throttle. And lo and behold! The bike simply rocketed away to 152 km/h (speedo indicated) before I totally chickened out. After the ride I was wondering. What was Bajaj thinking when they gave SUCH A HUGE AMOUNT OF TORQUE in the higher rev range in a naked bike intended to be used in the city? This bike was supposed to have this torque delivery somewhere between 1.5-5k rpms (like for example ktm 200 duke). Had this VERY SAME tri spark 4 valve high revving engine been placed on a fully faired bike which easily minimizes wind resistance, the bike would have been a delight among tourers (not that it already isn't to many). Pretty confusing isn't it?
Now this post doesn't mean I don't like my bike. In fact I totally love the engine's rev hungry nature and throaty exhaust note above 7000 rpms!
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Compared to most other owners on this thread including me, the mileage you've quoted seems pretty less.

A few replies in bold. Now why is the owner of the bike eager to sell it just after 1.5k kms?

                              • Hello friends,

For the first time in my life I was stranded in the middle of a busy highway intersection (never was I let down by my machine; not even with my old FZ).
Reason: my NS's engine quit without a slightest warning. I could not get it to start no matter what I tried. The self was working fine. So I assumed the fuel was too low (below reserve). But the gauge showed three bars. Thought the gauge might be faulty. There was enough fuel in the tank though (fuel in the tank was about 2 and a half weeks old). Anyways, I just went to the nearest house and asked for an empty bottle and took an auto to the nearest pump for petrol. Despite pouring fresh fuel it wouldn't start. Then I tried to push start. It did not work. Oil and coolant were adequate.
Being a Sunday the svc was closed and so were the other workshops in the area. My friend came down and with his help we pushed in gear for 40 metres and finally the engine sputtered to life. I don't know what to call it - luck? What could be the reason for the engine to fail so suddenly. I maintain my NS so well.

Here are a few things that came into my mind:
                                1. Bad/Old fuel
                                2. Dirt in the fuel
                                3. Valves got jammed
                                4. CDI issue
                                5. Fuel over flow into the cylinder

Has anyone come across a similar situation.
The bike is running fine now.

Would love to see your views and thoughts on this.....
