Chain Issue
The chain is bothering me for some time now.
Remember that sound of the chain we hear from our bicycle chain when coming downhill ? I can hear such a sound at lower speeds.
Beyond 30 or 40 kmph, that noice might be there, but I don't hear it may be due to the exhaust sound.
Then I started noticing other bikes as they pass by. All pulsars make that cycle chain kind of noise. The only other bike which makes the same noise is honda twister.
What do you people think? Is it something normal?
Or is it because my bike chain needs to get tightened? ( I asked some friends about this, and they all told my chains are not loose).

Today I got that reversed front tire fixed.. & I noticed there is a positive change in handling. However, these mechanics have a habit of screwing something up every now & then. Today after they put the front wheel back in.. it seems the brake pad ? or something is interfering & it makes the front wheel slightly jammed. The front brake is far less responsive. .. sigh. Taking it back to SVC tmr.
@sunilyo
Yesterday I told you my rear disc doesn't make any noise while riding. However today I put my bike on Center stand & checked for slightest sound. It turns out the rear Disc still has contact with that Byber thing caliper ? every wheel spin. The sound that comes from it is tiny so i never hear it when riding. But if you spin the wheel with the bike on center stand & engine switched off .. you can hear a tiny khusss sound. More importantly could it be spoiling my FE ?
Also it's recommended to have 25psi for front tire & 28psi for the rear (for single rider) .. today I put those numbers accurately in my tires but 25psi for front seems so much lower than I used to run with. I press on the tire & it squeezes a little. that's the way it's meant to be ?

Its normal. Listen to a Karizma when it passes by. It's the most notorious bike with this chain sound. Love it or hate it, you've to live with it.Originally posted by Nithyan.S View PostThe chain is bothering me for some time now.

Also, ensure you lube it every 500-600 kms.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 02-01-2013, 11:04 AM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

1. Lube the chain every 500km, more often if you use the bike in dusty/muddy conditions. I use OKS chain lube, available at bajaj spares
2. Check that the chain is not over tightened. This happened to at my previous service. I thought the chain was rubbing against something else due to the vibration and noise. When i took it back, the svc engineer loosened it a bit and the noise disappeared.

You need to find them out in your city. There are several shops here in mysore dedicated to wheels and wheel alignment. There might be few in your city too. Just google it out and any reputed ones nearby should pop up.Originally posted by sunilyo View PostThanks Aditya. I will get this done for both the front and the rear. So from where can i get the alignment done from any car shop or are there separate shops for wheel alignment?
Haha! That guy was a complete nut case. He was telling a guy before me that 2 strokes run best and longest on kerosene!Originally posted by broken87 View PostLOL! abusing for not agreeing with him ? like maa behan ki gaaliyan ?
He must've thought you know nothing about lubricants haha
I too have the same problems. Irritating chain sound goes away after lubing and after a little more than a kilometer of riding, it comes back. I observed the sound coming from the front sprocket when the chain gets separated from the teeth. Could it be that the 2 sprockets are misaligned (or not in a straight line) by a tiny margin?Originally posted by Nithyan.S View PostThe chain is bothering me for some time now.

OT: Is Husqvarna thinking of a 200/220 cc competitor to duke and NS? Coz I once faced a guy telling me to watch out for the upcoming 'Apache 220' and I found a post on fb saying ktm is keeping an eye on husqvarna's moves.Last edited by Aditya N Bharadwaj; 02-01-2013, 11:35 AM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

I have a simple solution to propose. Remove the front sprocket cover and clean it of muck and grease every 400-500kms, this is one area nobody bothers to clean while cleaning the chain. Then , the sound will also come when the chain is over tightened, that you can verify by just rotating the wheel by hand on the main stand, the movement will be restricted.

Front sprocket cleaning too ? then try changing the link lock on the chain, might go away.

From last few weeks i have noticed that my front brake is not as responsive as before and has lost its bite.... i feel like riding a drum brakes bike..... i remember somebody else was also having this issue...... what might be the issue? Whenever i take it to SVC they say they cannot adjust anything as its disc brakes.....FYI i am close to 8K kms.... so are the brake pads worn out so soon?My ride....My SUNSHINE... :)

Need help with Tires !!!
Guys ,
How would a combo of IRC Road winner (100/80) and a Pirelli Sport Demon ( 130/70) would fair for our Bikes, I do have a plan to change them tomorrow or the day after..
I am concerned mostly about the Grip in Wet and Dry Conditions. Have to take a stroll in JC road to find where I can get them though.."A bike on the road is worth two in the shed"

Just now I returned from SVC.. got that jamming front wheel fixed.. sort of. The mechanic opened the entire disc caliper 3 times, did everything .. after 3 failed attempts .. he figured it might be the Disc which is causing it. Got a new Disc installed - Rs 1200. Then the wheel was rotating almost smoothly. Still slight jamming on one small portion of a wheel rotation.
The other issue that couldn't be sorted is same as faffy.. the front brake is not responding well. Before the mechanic swapped the wheel yesterday it was alright. But now it's like even if I pull the front brake real hard.. even that doesn't lock the front wheel.
Yea me having same thing.. just 2.5k on ODOOriginally posted by faffy View PostFrom last few weeks i have noticed that my front brake is not as responsive as before and has lost its bite.... i feel like riding a drum brakes bike..... i remember

Dunlop 140/70/17 looks badass on NS, with the tire huger removed. I asked the guy if that made any changes in acceleration, top speed, FE. He said it's just the same as before.. while it provides great traction.Originally posted by bluejoy View PostGuys ,
