I don't know where in pune you can get your problem solved but I can say this much...firstly, please get rid of the bajaj engine oil (if that's what you're using) and switch over to motul 5100 SS now that your second service is over. Engine oil quality does have a say in the vibey nature of the bike. Once you begin using fully synthetic oil, your bike will be a pleasure to ride. Secondly, get the rubber grommets installed. They supposedly help reduce the overall vibrations significantly. If the vibrations are from the console area, check this: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/do-yours...ar-200-ns.html. Thirdly, keep the chain lubricated.
Make it a habit to keep tightening the visible bolts by applying the right amount of torque once every few hundred kms till your odo hits around 7000 kms. That, in my opinion is the right time to switch to FS oil. You can do this much from your side. If the problem still persists, pressurize the svcs.
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

      • Hi, guys... I am new to xbhp. I have just booked my NS and it should be here in the next 10 to 12 days. I have asked the dealer (Sai Service, MUMBAI) to first get the bike inspected by me before registering it. Have already gone through the pre-delivery inspection thread to make sure i cover all the imp points. but still are there any specific checks especially related to NS that I should be aware of ???

Also, I had read somewhere in this thread about the proper way to set the AFR screw which involves increasing the idle speed first and then something..... I know its to early, I don't want to fiddle with it, but just want to know the proper way just in case if i ever need it in the future..... So if someone could please tell me about that too coz i can't find that post right now

        Thanks
        Cheers

        • Fellow bikers, I was advised to go for the clutch disk and pressure plate of 200NS for replacement on my P220.
Is there anyone who have done it or heard of the part swap? Will it be feasible as of having a part of a bike having 6 gears on a 5 gear bike?
May I know the price of the pressure plate and clutch disk, if anybody has changed it? Couldn't find it in Mayank.Travedi's signature link.

O NOO....I always thought I was running rich.......
Why is it important to adjust the idling screw ? is there anything like the optimum idling rpm for NS ?

If it doesn’t annoy you, please explain how a constant air fuel ratio causes the fluctuating engine rpm. And what difference the 4-4.5 turns of the AFR screw makes in the amount of fuel taken in for combustion, compared to 2-2.5 turns? From your post, I guess the flow of air and fuel at 2-2.5 turns of that screw is varying and at 4-4.5 turns it is constant. I wonder why the engineers at the time of designing the engine didn’t notice it.
As many others, I too am trying to learn something about bikes from the very learned, wise people like you here. That curiosity lead to this question; nothing else.

                • After quite some search through on-line stores and local stores... didn't find a single Tank Guard that would suit the NS (God it's almost a year now since the NS was launched.... and still no after markets available for the NS, when the market is teeming with after markets for the D200 ). So, did the next best thing -

                  • Dear Friends,

My 200ns is suffering from some issues which SVC people are unable to get sorted out or acting such !

2nd service done, current odo reading 5800, running on Bajaj oil

                    1) Upon reaching 5k-6k rpm, huge rattling & vibrations are emerging from meter console & front fairing. This keeps coming in between 5k-8km & at speeds 65-80kmph.
                    2) Once cruising at this speed & rpm combo, bike feels as if I am redlining the odo - very harshly is the behavior of the bike.
                    3) Ride has also gone harsh, even on flat road - bike tends to behave as if I am riding some pat-holed road. Seems something wrong with suspension set-ups.

NS owners from Hyd, need your valuable inputs - advice me which mech/svc to visit to sort this issues out. My current svc is Deccan Bajaj @ Ranigunj. Have visited them 3-4 times since last 2-3 months but they are unable to sort out issues completely. They fix it for the moment & this comes back after a couple of days.

I may facing huge mental set-back because of this issues, I hardly drive above 70kmph speed & has done only 110kmph twice - not even tried to reach the top whack. ALL YOUR INPUTS WILL HELP ME SORT OUT MY BIKE FROM ISSUES AND MAKE ME A TENSION-FREE RIDER.

                    Best Regards...

There's an DIY thread where you will find how to get rid of those vibrations.Basically, you have to fill in the empty spaces in the headlight arrangement after pulling out the visor.
For engine harshness, Most probably, the oil is the culprit. From what I've read in the thread, most owners switch to SS oil right after second service[~2.5k kms approx] and the vibes/harshness are taken care of to an great extent.
Again, what I've posted here, in this reply is from the countless posts I've been reading in this thread.
And yeah, I read your post a few days back about Deccan Bajaj's service center's inefficiency to solve your problems. So I dropped my decision of buying my 200ns from them. I will be getting mine from the Begumpet showroom this week. The salesman told me about that the mechanic was sent to Pune for some training regarding servicing of this bike. Their service center is behind Mody [email protected] can try taking your bike there. It's sad that there are not many active 200ns users here like ones from Kolkata and Bengaluru here on xbhp.

In my experience, engine vibrations are reduced by 1/2 after first service and become nearly smooth engine.
I thing it is not by service but by aging engine Because SVC guys didn't do anything particular
For panel vibrations use double side stickers & pieces of old hawai chappals
I am on Bajaj oil and not even think to change it
My odo is now 1000 kms & only once I had ridden over 8000 rpm because of one FZ16
I am waiting for my favorite number to come to register my vehicle ie 707
I am coming from Honda Unicorn, so 200NS is not at all smooth or good commuting bike for me.
Owners of Unicorn will understand, what I said ...
Now I am loving my byk because of its mass centralization (first bike in bajaj), Brakes and mono shock which gives me perfect control through rush traffic
even though I had been getting decent fuel mileage (more than I thought)
I wish if I am the only rider in roads !!!!!
So I can red line my bike all the time

I heard it's allowed to change color of a vehicle.. but RTO must be informed about it ? I might be wrong though.

I don't see much to be inspected in a brand new NS .. They all ride & feel the same. Choose your color & check it ODO reading (should be between 3-4kms only ?) . It's important to know that the bike you're getting hasn't been given to multiple customers for the purpose of test riding.

check at asc next time u go for a CO machine tune and u will find if u are rich or lean...about 2-2.5% CO is best for the bike

and its simple..if u richen the mixture then it will take more fuel and hence gives more power and so more RPM hence u need to reduce the idle to proper range..keep at about 1.45~1.5K
                              anything lower causes stalling problems

                              • Just back from the Early morning ride from Nandhi hills. i just realized i am not used to super high speeds and need to remember to do engine break more often. I was riding with a couple of friends( Duke, FZ). On the way back i was on duke for some time and there was a very stupid thing i did at one point which i never do( over taking on a curve) and needless to say i am typing this post because the trucker on the other side gave me enough room to save myself.

i need to read up more on highway manner and things to do before i go for my next ride.
