Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Hello Guys! I've been following this thread for quite some time now. Since most of the people here are NS owners, I would like to ask whether there's someone who's facing issues like coolant leakage and issues in gear shifting, in their NS?

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Done with my first service. changed the engine oil to Motul 5100, but the chief service engineer told me that my warranty will not be valid since I had put Motul oil.
I spoke with the owner of the SVC and he also told me the same. According to him there has been cases where the bike has gone 10K and developed engine problem due to the use of Motul Oil.
I had followed this thread and got to know that Motul 3100/5100 is the best suited for Pulsar 200NS so I went with it.
Can you please confirm my doubts with this warranty thing before I reach out to the Bajaj guys?Never be afraid to slow down. Enjoy the ride and your life!!!!

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Man! They just need excuses to get their necks out of that service. Although, it's clearly mentioned in the Manual to use the Bajaj DTSi 10000 engine oil, and they do the same, but, I can't recall whether using some other engine oil voids warranty. BTW, why did you tell them that you changed the oil?Originally posted by Nirupam Biswas View PostDone with my first service. changed the engine oil to Motul 5100, but the chief service engineer told me that my warranty will not be valid since I had put Motul oil.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
I find this topic of using Motul in NS to be controversial. Now I don't completely disagree with what the SVC guys and Bajaj themselves say on this. We can't know Pulsar bikes as good as Bajaj engineers do, hence there should be a good reason why they suggest their Bajaj Oil. But the part they're wrong about is it's drain interval of 10,000kms, it's rubbish really. Other than that Bajaj oil has it's plus sides too, and your bike should run well & smooth on it until you remember to change it every 3k-4k kms. That's what i feel. But I also run on Motul 5100 and I feel it's great, however I'm never switching to 300v. Someone told me it's definitely not required for 200cc single cylinder engine.Originally posted by Nirupam Biswas View PostDone with my first service. changed the engine oil to Motul 5100, but the chief service engineer told me that my warranty will not be valid since I had put Motul oil.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
If we go by the warranty terms and conditions, then the SVC has the full right to invalidate the warranty because you used an oil other than the recommended oil. On a practical note, Motul is surely better than Bajaj Dtsi oil. There are many SVC who use Motul. SO its all depends on the SVC. Try visiting another SVC where the SVC manager wont create a fuss. No point reaching out to the Bajaj Guys (if CC is what you meant) because they'll discourage you from using any other oil.Originally posted by Nirupam Biswas View PostDone with my first service. changed the engine oil to Motul 5100, but the chief service engineer told me that my warranty will not be valid since I had put Motul oil.

Its all at the discretion of the SVC.Originally posted by CyberKID View PostMan! They just need excuses to get their necks out of that service. Yup its quite debatable whether Motul would void the warranty or not, but I feel the Bajaj oil is good for 2k-3k at the max (never used it for more than 1k till now so just an assumption). But as far as the "good reason why they suggest Bajaj Oil" is concerned, the only good reason is "source of income" for Bajaj. It cannot be justified that the Bajaj Oil retails at Rs.360ish per litre (being SS) whereas Motul 3100 retails at around Rs.320ish. The difference in quality is pretty evident. With so many Bajaj bikes on the road, BAL has used the opportunity to generate revenue and reduce liabilities (by invalidating the warranty if non Bajaj Oil is used).Originally posted by broken87 View PostI find this topic of using Motul in NS to be controversial. About coolant leakage; SVC guys doesn't help you ????? Bajaj bike's gear shifting is a **** compared to other manufactures. But my NS gives me "satisfactory" shifting. Actually the most smooth gear shifting in pulsar rangeOriginally posted by CyberKID View PostBUMP guys. Anyone?
I wish if I am the only rider in roads !!!!!
So I can red line my bike all the time

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Thanks for your input mate. Actually, I've done more that 13.5K kms on my bike, living with that coolant leakage and gear shifting issue. The SVC guys are completely useless, as per my experience goes with them. Earlier they ignored the coolant leakage issue, and now they can't resolve it. About the gear shifting issue, it's not been addressed as yet. I'm on the verge of filing a case in the consumer court against Bajaj and the dealer.Originally posted by spknair View PostAbout coolant leakage; SVC guys doesn't help you ????? Well today I gave it a try! And used choke and started it and holy crap it started idling at some 3 or 3.5k rpm! And the bike was vibrating a lot. First time I felt that kind of vibration and some buzzing sound from the front. My normal idle rpm is only some 1.1 or 1.2k rpm during a cold start(morning) . I'm not sure of the idle rpm after letting the engine warm up though. So I'm guessing that rpm is a little less? Is that why I have trouble starting it in one go? And is there any harm in giving throttle after turning on the vehicle to heat it up?

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
A bike at choke always idles higher as it increases the amount of fuel supply to the engine ...and there is different noise and felt vibes because of the constant choke rpm limit........i have a p150 it also has a choke lever n mine idles at 3800-4200 when in choke.....do remember to shut off the choke before going to ride.....if there is still starting problem raise your idle rpm to 1400......and there is no harm in giving throttle after starting as yours is not a fi machine.....i usually rev mine post the 9k rpm mark.....but dont keep it there for more than 3 secondsOriginally posted by Panzer1 View PostWell today I gave it a try! Need some input on tyre change
The rear tyre of my NS is left with a puncture hole, which couldn't be fixed. Tried with two local puncture shops (without removing the tyre from the bike) and tried in PBK SVC as well (where they removed the tyre and tried to fix it) . Both ended in Vain. It still leaks a little air.
The tyre expert (thats what they called him
) of the PBK said that this puncture cant be fixed and gave me 3 options
1. Change to new tyre
2. Fill air everyday and run the bike like that till the tyre lasts
3. Change the tubeless tyre into tubed tyre.
Right now i m following option 2 for past few days
. Even thinking of buying a foot-press air pump from ebay which costs about 300 bucks.
For going with option 1, i am not sure my wallet can sustain the hole that will be created by this
. Still to be sure about the size of the hole, can anyone tell me whats the approx cost of MRF Revz (FZ Rear) of stock Eurogrip specs and size ?
So, coming to option 3, this is where i need advice or inputs.
Is that ok to insert a tube and use it as a tubed tyre ?
P.S : Its a Stock Eurogrip tyre, about 9k old.Last edited by vinodhs87; 05-07-2013, 03:36 PM.You're the guy who'll be sneaking out of your bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at your bike.
