Re: Moving to the NS
I get it serviced at Manan bajaj, Maninagar. They have good trained technicians for 200NS. Have heard alot about PBK servicing been very good, need to check it out.Originally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostI get my bike serviced @ HET Bajaj , Shivranjini as I bought it from there only & they pay attention to my requirements & I'm quite happy with their servicing.
I haven't tried the PBK yet though. I'm not sure whether they'll do it or not. But anyways I'm getting good service at Het so no point to go to the PBK as of now.
Sure , I'm in. By the way there's an Ahmedabad Biker's Group on FB. We arrange trips , g2gs , etc. Its called Motorcycling Adda of Gujarat.
Enjoying motorcycling passionately while respecting general public on roads and highways. Safety while riding is the topmost priority of this group, along with refining riding skills by participating...

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Need a help, completed 550 km and the 1st servicing is due, can you suggest on the below points:
1)Where to give my bike for servicing in Pune? Is PBK SVC near Ruby Hall good?
2)What all needs to be changed or worked on in my first service, please suggest?
3)Currently facing no issues apart from the bike getting heated up, though I guess that is ment to happen right?
4) Anything else I want to tell the SVC guys please suggest?
This is my first bike so not aware of these stuffs
Never be afraid to slow down. Enjoy the ride and your life!!!!

Engine heating is a given and as the bike gets settled it will be reduced but not completely reduced so that's a given.Originally posted by Nirupam Biswas View PostNeed a help, completed 550 km and the 1st servicing is due, can you suggest on the below points:

Just the basic stuffs like tightening and general things if necessary and all will be taken care of the mechs themselves. But the manual is the best bet.
@rpmboy, welcome to the club and nice first impression. Ride safe and have fun.
Cheers!

Nirupam da, Ruby hall er pashe PBK SVC nei (No pbk svc near ruby hall). PBK SVC is at Kothrud, Near SNDT College under the Overbridge. Ask for Milind and Sagar. They are the best ones for NS servicings.
Get the oil changed. even if they insist on a topup (which they generally dont). Change to any of Motul3100/5100/7100.
Ask Sagar to install the rubber grommets for all the nuts (prevention of vibes is better than cure). Ask to clean the chain and get it lubed with Motul chain lube. Get the battery checked along with the disks (for bends which would be replaced under warranty if damaged) and brake fluid top up.
Replies in BoldOriginally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostI got mine on 24th August. First batch of blue ones in mysore.
Cool! Mine was from first batch of black ones in Pune.
That's just great news to me (sarcasm :P )! I'm running mine on 300V since the past 3k kms and I've been ripping my bike like crazy ever since. Anyway, I left my bike at the svc today afternoon. I'm expected to get her back in 24 hrs. They did mention in the job card that a unique sewing machine-like sound becomes audible after ~6 kms of riding. So it's not just the tappets but the entire engine that will be looked into.
I got nothing against Motul or 300v. Same sound used to come in my bike from a long time.Faster I go the louder the sound becomes until it dies with the wind. Hopefully it wont be the case of Engine Replacement, Best of Luck just incase.
Other maintenance works mentioned in the job card:
1. Gear lever had too much free play, needs replacement or adjustment.
2. Clutch lever free play adjustment.
3. Coolant level top-up.
4. Left side sway correction (finally found the time for it).
Upgrades on my mind:
1. NGK iridium spark plugs as the slave plugs. Not sure if I can find one for the master plug. I need help in deciphering the letters and numbers written on a spark plug. Someone please help!
2. Duke 200 rear tyre - MRF revz c.
It ain't the Duke's rear tyre. Infact you are gonna have to install a smaller spec tyre than Duke's but in the same design else much headaches have to be facedLast edited by utsavchs; 05-01-2013, 03:20 PM.....Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Got my bike back. The first few kilometers felt like I was riding a brand new bike but after I redlined in the first five gears, the sound was back, but much lesser than before. Now, the sound stays constant, though very mild, no matter what temperature / time of the day I'm running it at. So I'm guessing that either the very mild *chika chika chika* sound is a characteristic of 4valve engines (like LOUD sewing-machine sounds in desmodromic valves in ducatis) or the mechanic hasn't adjusted the clearance properly. Okay now I'm not fed up of this sound, it just makes me wonder what's possibly going on inside?Originally posted by utsavchs View PostReplies in Bold
Actually, I kinda like that very mild sound along with the exhaust sound. Like you said, it dies away after a particular speed. Makes me feel I own a ducati myself. But I showed a bit of concern coz I wanted to know if it's supposed to be there in the first place.
OT- @all, what are racing clutch springs? Do they have any notable advantages for daily use?Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Rahul had created a thread about the same. It means you will have better engine torque due to lesser transmission losses. Also reduced clutch plate life.Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View Post

Re: Moving to the NS
Thanks for your replies guys, sorry for the delay I've had internet connectivity issues. From what I read tires, heating, vibes and stiff suspension are all concerns. My main worry is the stiff suspension. How bad is it? Isn't it adjustable? Main reason I'm leaving R15 is because of many aches and pains so I'm really worried about that in the NS. Also is the heating bad enough to reduce engine life?

Re: Moving to the NS
None of the issues are as big as it may appear.Originally posted by rcazador View PostThanks for your replies guys, sorry for the delay I've had internet connectivity issues. Heating ? Nothing to worry about here.
Vibes ? exaggerated by some NS'ians.. yes there are some vibrations here and there and but very tolerable. I've abused my bike so much and yet it's almost vibration free below 6k rpm. no rubber gromets fitted, simply running on Motul 5100. However when you're revving your NS upto 10k rpm you will get some vibes and it's perfectly normal.
Stiff suspension ? It's got a very balanced suspension setting, no problems there either.
The only downgrade imo will be running on a carbureted bike, R15 has a FE.. NS still uses the ancient carburetor for fueling. So cold start issues ? yes. If your AFR isn't perfectly tuned you may have some probs in low-mid range etc... you can always tune it though and get it right.
So yea, just go for it i'd say. you'll love it ! It's that good. My feelings are bikes from the latest batch have slight improvements and fixes here and there. so definitely go for it.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Hey people this is my first post on xbhp, purchased the bike on the 30th of november,i just wanted to know if i can replace the stock eurogrip tyres to the r15 v2 ones, both front and back as the size of both of them is almost the same as the 200ns tyres and i heard that the r15 tyres provide exceptional wet and dry grip

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
It depends. But usually it takes around every time one changes oil or a fixed KM of 10 to 15k kms. But your NS has paper filter and why are you concerned about CFs.Originally posted by mayank.travadi View PostAt what interval approximately is centrifugal oil filter cleaned? i dont think any svc even does it..and most owners have no idea about what it is...
