Re: Pulsar 200 NS
No, lubing not necessary as such for cables as all they need is little little grease at the cable bobs for smoothness and that's about it. Some mechs do lube, but unless it's scooter or something where the cables have so many corners to go through then it's really not that important.Originally posted by nokstar View Postanyone plz?
You can claim insurance from PBK itself and they will guide you through the entire process. Once the claim is approved by the insurance guy upon the receipt of the total damage cost estimate they will have the compensation structure as to the parts and their insurance value.Originally posted by theproctor_redfury View PostHi friends, I met with an accident about a week ago. I was driving at a good speed, when suddenly, I happened to hit a dog and lost balance, in the process fell on the right side skidding along the tarmac. thankfully, I was wearing helmet, (value its importance all the more now!!
), and escaped with some minor fractures. Just got to see my bike after the accident, and I was fearing the worst actually. But, the crash bar, worked wonderfully, protecting the major parts of the bike all along. But there are a few damaged parts as well. The rear brake pedal is broken, the crash bar took quite a damage and the front brake is engaging itself all the time, which heats up my front brake. I just wanted to get a few doubts clarified, before I took it to the SVC. Will the insurance, cover the cost of all the damaged parts involved here? or do I have to pay for everything? I stay in Chennai, and my SVC is PBK Showroom, adayar, if that would be of any help. can anyone help me with the answers? thanks a ton in advance guys.
Cheers!

Hey, IDK, whether you already know or not, but, if you're going to tell them that you've had an accident and also if you claim for the accident from your insurance, your warranty, if any, will be gone.Originally posted by theproctor_redfury View PostHi friends, I met with an accident about a week ago. I've come across some of court judgements where, the manufacturer and the dealers have made it clear that in case of any accident, your warranty will be gone, as they won't warrant for proper functioning of the vehicle henceforth. Re: Pulsar 200 NS
I'm surprised at the performance of the NGK iridium IX spark plugs. Cold start idle can be set at ~500 rpm!! And the spark is so precise that the overall change in the response of the engine can be noted easily. Totally worth it!
To be on the safe side, I set the idle screw later such that the engine idles at 1.2k rpm during cold and 1.5k during warm.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Did you use the iridium ones for slave or master plug? during idle only the master plug is active right? i dont remember but i guess i read u have only replaced the slave...so how does cold start get better replacing slave plug?Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostI'm surprised at the performance of the NGK iridium IX spark plugs. Re: Pulsar 200 NS
No in fact it's the opposite, the master is there for high speed and slave is mostly mid range. And it is there for good acceleration low on.Originally posted by mayank.travadi View PostDid you use the iridium ones for slave or master plug? during idle only the master plug is active right? i dont remember but i guess i read u have only replaced the slave...so how does cold start get better replacing slave plug?

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
This is confusing. I asked many people including psr sir...everyone says master plug stays on during the entire time and for entire rev range....hence to read the spark plugs of a multi plug engine check master plug....slave gets activated during mid to higher rev range to give more power without compromising on efficiency...

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
The master plug will always be the one first to go on and the slave(s) are timed to provide better combustion meaning more power and cleaner emission.Originally posted by mayank.travadi View PostThis is confusing. The way either twin or triple plugs provide their benefits depends on the timing and many aspects. To simply put it alternates the power and uses them as needed.

Re: Moving to the NS
bee coolOriginally posted by broken87 View Postlol, what's wrong with you man. I only said exaggerated.. meaning the vibrations in NS isn't as much of a problem as some NS owners have claimed, perhaps they simply had a faulty engine, or could be their riding habits, run in wasn't exactly engine friendly. or just plain bad luck. My bike isn't exceptional, it also has vibrations.. mostly on knee recesses and some on handle bars and yes.. it's very tolerable. I can't understand why this offends you.
Suspension to me seems perfectly balanced yes.
I had deleted my post.

Re: Moving to the NS
Changed to Motul 7100 20W50 and did my last free service. 8400 on odo. Super smooth baby I have now.
Got it done from KTM bhopal. TD ed the duke 200 too... Such an impressive bike, they even had a Ninja 300 there. Was just for display and was informed that no TD is being given now...

Re: Moving to the NS
Hi All
I took delivery of my 200 ns on Wednesday and would like to say a few words about my experience so far.
Brief Background -
I bought my first pulsar (150 dtsi) in 2006 - run 20,000 kms, Then Pulsar 220 in 2010 - run 30,000 kms.I started to feel that my 220 was ageing and began looking for a suitable replacement. I needed a bike that would be easy to own and maintain and yet feel like a significant upgrade.
The Buying Experience -
I bought the bike from Popular Bajaj Bannerghatta Road. I'm sorry to say this but the buying experience was disappointing
. The condition the bikes are parked in is itself very bad. I found it a bit hard to choose my bike from the lot because all of them were covered with dust and I couldnt make out the condition of the bike. Finally I chose my bike after being assured by the sales guy that no matter which bike I select, it would be his responsibility to deliver it in "Showroom condition". I made the payment on Monday and on the day of delivery(Wednesday), the bike was parked outside and met the sales guy inside. He dint seem anywhere as interested as he did on the day I was making the payment! I realized what a mistake I made by chossing the option of "3m Teflon Coating" for around Rs 800. Even I can polish the bike better than that, they had applied polish without even removing the plastic covers! Then I noticed some scratches on the swing arm. The sales guy assured me that he would bring it to original condition on Saturday(Today). But he was on leave, and a service guy hurriedly applied spray paint and was done with it. I spoke to the manager and asked him to bring it to original condition. The manager said, "sir, you chose the bike so we cannot do anything!". So much for the assurances and promises by the sales guy. For anybody who wants to buy 200 ns, please consider some other showroom.
Ownership Experience -
The buying experience was not too great but the product from Bajaj is something I have never experienced before. As mentioned I have owned 2 pulsars earlier to this. But this is a completely new and refreshing experience
I will only briefly speak about my opinion and with respect to my previous ownership experiences. Regarding the design, nothing needs to be said. The very first impression that I got was that it looks like a mini Honda CB 1000R and I fell in love with it .I have read a lot about the vibrations near the seat, footpegs, tank, handlebar etc but Bajaj seems to have ironed out most of the problems very effectively. I could hardly feel any vibrations compared to what I had read. Since the bike is still in running in period, i cant say much about high speed refinement, but the bike pulls neatly and silently right from the lower revs. Compared to the 220 the engine feels a lot more relaxed and willing to rev. Even after riding for 40 kms in the city traffic it feels so relaxed. My 220 engine used to start sounding gruff but this bike doesn’t lose refinement even when the engine is heated. The composure of the bike in corners is pure bliss and very confidence inspiring!changing directions mid corner seems to be very easy now
I can feel the sharpness and the feedback from the frame. The gear shifting is very precise and a pleasure to use. Coming to the suspension, all I can say is its tight :d Its brilliant in corners but in rough roads its a bit of a bone jarring experience and a workout to the back
but I wont complain because this will be a blessing for corner carving. The braking in this bike is among the best i have seen in this range and is razor sharp! feels like a big jump from 220 probably because of the much stiffer frame also. Conclusion that this bike is worth every bit the money paid. It definitely feels like a worthy upgrade from my 220
Anyone looking to upgrade from their 220 can feel free to PM me. Will try my best to guide you.
Thats all for now
P.S : Please forgive me for any typo errors. Also please note that my opinions are purely based on my previous ownership experiences.Last edited by arjun bharadwaj; 05-04-2013, 10:19 PM.Work to Ride - Ride to Work

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Someone please help me as i am planning to upgrade my 200 ns stock tyres to the r15 v2 ones both front and back, will it affect the handling of the bike?also during the first service the people from the service center refused to change the oil filter since i had used Motul oil,has any damage been done to the engine because of not changing the oil filter?

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
No such damage to the engine will happen just because the oil filter wasn't changed once. But why would they not change it just because you are using motul. I mean, that doesn't make sense at all.Originally posted by Novincerider View PostSomeone please help me as i am planning to upgrade my 200 ns stock tyres to the r15 v2 ones both front and back, will it affect the handling of the bike?also during the first service the people from the service center refused to change the oil filter since i had used Motul oil,has any damage been done to the engine because of not changing the oil filter?
Well, the only thing is the filtering capability of the current filter might not be as efficient as a new one. But no harm done, if you can get a new spare filter from the svc or some other svc then get it and change it. Hardly a 5 min job. Just make sureyou have some oil to soak the oil filter in and replace it.
Cheers
