You should have changed the oil as soon as it started getting rough. Now for future use , go by Motul 3100, it's mineral but works similar to semi synthetic because of the additives, will last about 3k (to be safe) but it WON'T be good for high revving action. For which you need the Motul 5100 , or higher, and in case of engine oil smoother = more performance. So get the best within your budget.
    5100= Rs540/liter
    7100=7xxrs/liter
    300v=9xxrs/liter

    thanks for the insight bro !!
    i had to search for 2 days for motul 7100 but cudnt get one instead i got 5100 ... for this the drain interval of 3k is it safe ?

      @danny king : only 3 causes to explain this:
      1. a puncture
      2. a faulty valve
      3. a deformed rim [even a slight deformation] allowing the air / nitrogen to leak during rotation
      pls check all 3 & u shud be good

        But still the bike can make it home.

        Some ingenius bustardo must have thought cutting this would kill your bike or for his wants, but whatever his intention was. On a lighter note. HAMARA BAJAJ.

        IKR? Most likely someone did this out of spite,since there was no sign of anyone trying to take the spark plug out.
        Here is the pic of the damage.

            That's real bad, malevolence it's clearly slit, I wonder he took his own sweet time to do this. Lucky as your slave was cut. And do keep us posted on how much it costed to change and what was changed.

            Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

            And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

              There is a thin layer of soot on my engine and bike, and oil seems to seep out slowly from around the cap which is there to refill oil. Is this normal?

                3k should be good, a bit premature actually if your riding is more on the sedate side, you can extend to 4k.

                  It's normal, most bikes do seep some amount of oil at that spot. Just remove the cap, wipe it clean, and tighten it again, not too tight, but make sure you provide the good torque. That isn't a big issue.

                  Cheers!

                    Nah,not the Master plug. If someone would've actually taken the effort to locate it under the tank and slit it clean,then I probably would have succumbed to cardiac arrest right there. Thankfully,it's the right side slave plug.

                    Sure. I am taking it to the svc tomorrow. I just hope that after a gap of 7 days,nothing else has gone wrong. *shudder*

                      Why not too tight? Is there a reason? Curious mind here

                        So here's what's going on with my bike.

                        Vibrations: very few at the handlebars.
                        Tappet noises: none during cold starts and very very mild sound after a good warmup.
                        Carburettor setting: mildly rich.
                        Fuel efficiency: 41 km/l even after incessant ripping in the city. (How? I used to get 37 km/l while I used to shift at 5k rpm)
                        Spark plugs: NGK iridium slaves and Bosch stock master plug (changed at 10500 kms)
                        Issues: none!

                        I can't really control the urge to rev hard and have been doing so since the last 4000 odd kms. I let the bike idle for a minute during starts which are more than 6 hours after the last shut off and after a few kms of warming up, I mostly keep the revs above 7k. Also, I get many chances to do so as well coz Mysore doesn't exactly have busy roads. The bike's running on motul 300V for the last 4000 kms. The bike's done 11000 kms. Since I never miss a chance to rev really hard, what life can I expect from the engine? I know this is a hard rev machine but, sometimes I wonder if I'm doing it right.

                        And how many more kms shall I run on the 300V? I'm planning to use 7100 next time and see the results.

                        And for someone who had asked me about the code number for the NGK iridium IX slave spark plugs, it's CR8EIX where 8 is the heat range I believe.

                        You don't want to ruin the thread on it do you? In such a case, seepage would become more. There's a specific torque for tightening anything as such, even spark plugs.

                          No I wasn't trying to ruin the thread. That's uncalled for. And I see no logic to that accusation. I was just trying to know why the caps shouldn't be too tight? In any case, my newbie question did teach me something new: too tight = seepage more. Thanks for the answer.

                                Is it when you're riding sanely or revving hard ? You don't get vibrations anywhere else when you're revving over 8kRPM ?
