#red_redemption^^^ got his tires replaced from TVS. Same issue as you. He has posted pics here in this thread. He was charged 300/- bucks as depreciation charges for running tires for 10k km. And got new ones. You can get new tire and then sell it.Originally posted by The Zmaniac View PostI did not wait for warranty check as keeping bike at home for 10 more days would have cost me a new tyre anyway (late night travels by rick is costly). Moreover I have already run for 10K Kms which I think is good mileage for TVS tyres (though I did not have much to complain about the front). Also I was looking for Pirelli both front and rear but dealer was too far and was not helping with tyre change so it sure would have costed 700 quids more. I am going to inquire about warranty of tyre with SVC anyway. Lets see if I win some bonus here.
140/70 would have higher diameter (2.3%) as compared to 130/70 but its not that much. However 140/70 (as in MRF, Pirelli) would have much flatter profile than 130/70. So there will be difference in handling. On the other hand 150/60 has diameter almost equal to that of 130/70 (less than 1% difference). But the Duke200 has different gear ratios so its quicker than 200NS. THe tire shop wala i visited said NS can easily take 150/60..no problem..Originally posted by broken87 View PostRaise the back side ?? OH COOL! lulz
btw, I had talked to the owner of that particular NS with Dunlop 140/70. He seemed happy & said this Dunlop tyre provides exceptional grip compared to the old Eurogrip one. Also said there is no drop in acceleration, mileage either. At least not noticeable to him I believe. He also added that Duke uses 150/60 tire & has almost similarly powered engine, yet it goes slightly faster than NS. But I forgot to ask him what he had fitted in front Tyre.Last edited by nilesh14587; 03-12-2013, 12:10 PM.Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

The authorized dealer for eurogrips in pune was willing to trade the new rear tyre for PSD..Originally posted by nilesh14587 View Post#red_redemption^^^ got his tires replaced from TVS. cost of new eurogrip 1800
depreciation 300
cost of psd 3500
total cost for new rear PSD = 3500 - (1800-300) = 2000
approx figures from dec 2012
On an unrelated note, there was a NS checkup camp @ pune from 8th to 10th March.. Met many NS owners there including nilesh..

Did he remove the tyre huggers or make any other changes for accommodating the new tyre ?Originally posted by broken87 View PostRaise the back side ?? OH COOL! lulz

If possible, take it to a local welder, disconnect the battery and then ask him to weld a long nut to the broken end stuck on the engine and remove. or if you can manage then remove it by drilling it out though be careful while doing this.Originally posted by Arun Magus View PostDisaster happened.
Today was tightening the bolts, saw a bit of oil residues on the sides of the oil filter cap on the engine side. Tried tightening it and then the screw broke into two, with a part inside the sleeve. What to do? As of now, oil is not leaking.
Ultimately SVC people will make use of one these methods.

Same thing happened with me but with the crash guard bolt....it is broken and half of it is still inside. SVC guy told me it needs to be taken to Welding/Drilling wala....Originally posted by Arun Magus View PostDisaster happened.

And why i am shocked is that my bike has never fallen or hit anywhere(touchwood).... then how can it be broken just like that...

the same issue had happened on my bike and the svc guys told me to do the same thing - take it to a welding shop and remove the broken bit.. i went to quite a few places but no one would take up the job (too much effort for too little pay)Originally posted by faffy View PostSame thing happened with me but with the crash guard bolt....it is broken and half of it is still inside. finally this weekend i got the entire engine mounting bolt changed (the lower bolt of the left leg guard goes into an engine mouting bolt)
The leg guard bolt + engine mounting bolt + o-ring replacement cost me Rs. 40 at Sai Svc, Balgandharva branchLast edited by Red_Redemption; 03-12-2013, 03:42 PM.We are so busy watching out for what\'s just ahead of us, that we don\'t take time to enjoy where we are ~ Bill Watterson

Depends on you
I was sitting with the same kind of confusion. So bottom line is try to buy the bike that fulfills your needs. I was seriously considering the duke over pulsar because the Duke was very engaging bike. The bike gives you feedback on what it was doing all the time. It is always urging you to push it hard no matter what speed you are sitting at. Mileage was not a concern because even the duke if ridden in sane manner will give you the same sort of mileage that the pulsar does. Duke is going to a bit more expensive to maintain compared to the pulsar. I ride my bike in a commuter fashion most of the time ( which can be done quite easily with the pulsar), there is power when i want it. PTR never complained about the fueling on the pulsar although it was a crab engine. There is vibes in Duke too( nothing comes to the handle bar though from what i have observed). Bikes will become dated as time passes that is when what i said matters.. Is the bike doing what u want it to do? as long as the bike does what you need, you will never feel the need to buy another bike or upgrade. i don't know if it is a mental block that i have, i am always afraid to push the pulsar too much because of the horror stories that i have heard about the tyres. With the Duke the madness to do extreme things comes so easily.Originally posted by Harsh Thanvi View PostHello there guys
I had been searching a lot over the net about 200 NS watched many reviews comparisons between ktm & 200 ns
And now iam really very very confused that i should go with pulsar or ktm
KTM frankly is a bit costly here in mumbai on road its around 1.35 Lakh approx.
And pulsar 200 ns is 1 Lakh
Is the 35 K worth for buying ktm instead of Pulsar 200 ns
As the reviews by customers were also 60 yes 40 no for Pulsar 200 NS
& 80 yes & 20 no for KTM
What you guys say
There are many long term owners praising pulsar 200 ns but there are also long term owners who say that bike is not that fun , they say that u can see the cost cutting.... The engine vibes and random issues
Instead of ktm i found absolutely nothing that made me worry
Moreover iam a college going student and rarely have a pillion with me
Confusion satrted when i saw reviews by Overdrive & PTR as both of them had nothing for ktm duke but reported issues with pulsar like
1 Vibrations
2 plastic quality
3 no fuel injection
4 tyre problems
5 heavy handle bar
And yes i am considering ktm as its more stylish than pulsar but is it worth that 35 K premium price??
Please guide me... Thanks

Here are some possible bad things against the Duke:
1. Bike is nearly 50k more than the puslar in Bangalore.
2. Service and parts in general more expensive
3. Bike has racy nature. ( very addictive)
4. Heats up alot more than the pulsar.
5. Mileage is generally lower because we are always in Race Mode
6. Hard Grips. Gloves should Counter this.
7. Hard Seats. Not sure what u can do. People cry about it. i didn't find it that bad( rode a duke for nearly 150Kms). i have heard the back seat is terrible (I don't trust another rider so no chance of me verifying this)
I really Love Bajaj and KTM for bringing us 2 completely different bikes although they have so many things in common.
So do want to Ride a Hooligan or a Silent Assassin?

Arre, the quality engg took a long ride with me on the bike and finally concluded that everything is normal. He tried to convince me by saying that now its summer time so the heating of engine is more. Well, hes technically right but i am still unsure. I told him that I am taking his word for it. Will monitor the engine for some more time. Last time I checked, the engine did cool down pretty much after 2-3 hours. Hopefully everything is normal.Originally posted by Red_Redemption View PostThe authorized dealer for eurogrips in pune was willing to trade the new rear tyre for PSD..

And regarding chain noise, it vanished for one day. Now its back again, even louder. Since they took out chain for cleaning during second service, the chain started giving problems. Its still "Jaise the" situation on that front. Same case with the handle bar. The engine is revving a lot freely now. But i hope it wouldn't be a short-spanned thing. All they did at that time in the camp is to check CO, lube chain etc normal things. I was looking at other bikes getting checked. A TVS guy also came later, some of us asked him about poor tire grip, but he, instead of answering directly kept saying all sorts of irrelevant things. I talked about RVMs, horns etc issues to the quality engineer, but all he kept saying is the things are optimally designed for NS and if you feel some issue just give feedback we will consider.
I will take my bike to Balgandharv svc this time for 3rd service. Lets see if he can do any wonders..
3rd service is due by April 8th..

Thanks buddy..even il do the same... coz SVC Manager said welding guy would take around 100 bucks plus who will take the headache to roam to find out welding guy + waste of time.....Originally posted by Red_Redemption View Postthe same issue had happened on my bike and the svc guys told me to do the same thing - take it to a welding shop and remove the broken bit.. i went to quite a few places but no one would take up the job (too much effort for too little pay)

If the price difference between the Duke & 200 NS is just 35k in your vicinity then go for the Duke bro.Originally posted by Harsh Thanvi View PostHello there guys

Also , I have this page @ motorbeam.com ( Nishant Sukharia's Pulsar 200 NS Ownership Review | MotorBeam - Indian Car Bike News & Reviews ) regarding my ownership experience & there are a LOT of people who are not satisfied with their Pulsar 200 NS as they can't figure out what's wrong with their bike...as they don't know about the AFR , CO , etc...but still , if you want a peaceful ownership experience then go for the KTM Duke...
On the other hand , if you go for the Pulsar you'll definitely learn a lot about carbed bikes...
Having said that , I believe that my NS is in perfect condition right now...no vibes even @ 120 kph , no leakages of any kind , I've gotten used to the Eurogrips
etc...in short no issues at all, but that's after owning the bike for over 6 months & I had tuned the AFR myself...so if you want to avoid pestering yourself & figuring out what's wrong with your NS like a lot of 200 NS owners, then go for the KTM...plus you don't need to worry about the servicing of your KTM as its done by the probiking guys...you'll get better treatment + KTM's orange days + a better looking bike + more attention from the ladies + exclusivity + a bike that will not fade out for a LONG time...
But all of this is just advice...

After the fall I had 4 days before, took my NS to the SVC today for My 3rd free service. Complained them about the increased body
vibrations after the fall. The whole bike gets vibrations even to the tail section if throttle is raised to 4k rpms !!
They said they would tighten all the parts and all.....
Then the main guy there told that the left handle bar has a slight alignment change(due to fall)and that it would give arm pain if driven for long
distances.
Replacing the left handle bar (its an alloy rod) would cost about Rs350/-
Im already having my right side tank cowl getting replaced now for Rs 600/-.
Me being a 100% city rider travelling short distances only, should I spend that Rs 350/- and get a new rod replaced ASAP ??

Are you talking about the silver colour alloy rod of he handle? is it really 350 for a small rod??with labour??Originally posted by Nithyan.S View PostAfter the fall I had 4 days before, took my NS to the SVC today for My 3rd free service. Complained them about the increased body

or are u talking about the black colored part which has the bolts to screw on to the place below the console? that is the handle holder which costs about 400..
strange u fell on left side and got ur right cowl damaged..600 bucks with or without labour??
i have my right hand side handle bent..it dosnt look bent normally but when u look at it from the opposite side...that is from the handle holder towards the bar ends..u will see the handle bend slightly by 5-10 degrees
and i have been riding it that way since about 1.5 months and no problem in hand...but yes i too have city riding but the distance is small...just about 3-8ms of continuous one time run..Pulsar 200NS parts list
