Changing the handle bar will not serve the purpose
        a. because it will have to be a specific height for the handles to not touch the tank
        b. even if you are able to change the handle bar to that of the duke you will still be turning the same radius because a stopper is in place by default.
        --------------------------

Thank you all for the valuable inputs.. I now realize that changing the handle will not change the turning radius But I think it surely makes our life easier while riding in traffic coz my brother owns a Duke and I feel a lot comfortable on it specially in traffic. I have done 7500 kms on the odo and most of it in the city hence kind off got acquainted to the my NS

          Symptoms:
          1. Starting prob ( may be thats why it got switched off)
          2. Low pick up ( that's the reason why you don't feel the same way as it was before )
          3. Sewing machine sound (75% tappets)

          Cheers
          1. Absolutely NO starting problems. The bike starts at the first crank.
          2. I don't think I said low pick up. The bike did surge like it used to before, only quieter. And it does rush away a tad bit better than a friend's brand new NS.
          3. It's just gone, disappeared into thin air!

My bike's 7200 kms old. Can't say the rings sealed yesterday can I?
Update: Today I made up my mind to rip my bike away like crazy. You can call it a mood swing. The blissful inline-four like sound at the higher rpms is back . I expected increase in tappet noise but none, not even after the engine hit a jolly good temperature after hard ripping.

NS: The self healing bike, if you look at it that way.

So could you guide me to the best way of tuning the AFR for NS? I am getting a mileage of arond 34 kmpl, so am i running on richer side ? What are mileage figures of a perfectly tuned NS ?

How much should the gap between spark plugs be? how do you clean it - sandpaper?

          Too much questions ......
Well, I've heard NS has a paper filter, which doesn't require all the cumbersome process of cleaning with kerosene, etc, etc. All that needs to be done is pressurised air blown at it to remove the dust. I could be wrong though. Also, I still am looking for the time to open the tank

For tuning the AFR, firstly, remove A spark plug and inspect closely. I assume your bike's already done a few thousand kilometers and the plugs haven't been cleaned recently. If it's all clean, then tuning is perfect. If it's sort of dusty (brownish powdery deposits to say the least) the bike's running lean. Or if it has a black liquid-like deposit (better known as fouling) the AFR is set to rich. Clean the plug, put it back in, get the engine well warmed up (you can ride for about 10 kms instead of keeping it in idle for a while) and use a screwdriver to turn the fuel screw anticlockwise for rich or clockwise for lean. You should make it rich or lean depending on what you saw on the spark plug. Rotate the screw a quarter of a revolution at a time and go for a spin. You should immediately notice a change in the bike's behaviour.

Ex: If you make it rich, you would notice a comparatively better low end pick up but you'd compromise on top speed.
If you make it lean, low end pick up would be disappointing but you can hit the top speed easily.
A perfect mixture (which is pretty hard to achieve) gives you the best of both worlds.

If you keep an observation over a range of kilometers, you'd notice that an engine with lean AFR heats up more than one with a rich AFR. Also, F.E is better with a lean AFR. But it's anyday better to run rich keeping in mind the heating effect.

No matter how hard you try, you wont get a perfect mixture immediately, or in one or two days, but after few more hundreds of kilometers of close observation of the spark plug and rotating the screw by minute amounts. Keep a check on the plugs every 750 or 1000 kms and you should get a vague idea of how well you've tuned.
Note: This method is by trial and error. It may take weeks before you get it right. I got mine right by fluke to say the least, as I was completely inexperienced when I tuned mine.

To clean the spark plug, I follow this method: How to Clean a Spark Plug - YouTube

            1. Does your NS's engine start smelling (like a heated metal) in 3-4 kms of riding??
            2. Can you feel heat waves on your legs and thighs after riding 8-10 kms?? And still the fan has not started working??
            3. Ever got the warm sensation at the seat, the black side panels and perimeter frame due to riding in traffic? Engine is super hot and fan is running.
            4. Does the engine remains hot (untouchable by hand and can feel heat just by standing near the bike) after like an hour of parking the bike in the evening after a ride of about 15-16km in normal traffic??
            5. Does your bike's chain makes "trrrrrrrrrrr" noise (like the one which we typically get from bicycle ball bearings) at the front sprocket??
            6. How long should Motul 5100 be used?? its now almost 3300km old now (It was 1 litr 5100 + 200ml 3000mineral oil actually of same grade 15W50)

I have started feeling that either the engine oil is screwing up or there is some serious problem with cooling system. I had a coolant leakage issue 2-3 months ago, past which i had incidents of vanishing coolant 2-3 times. I don't remember to have so much heated engine prior to that. Or even after sometime later that issue. Something screwd up in between. Can;t figure out what and SVC mechanics are simply apathetic to it. They simply say everything is normal or they can't do anything to reduce engine roughness.
Please guys, reply to these questions so that I can get a good picture of the typical 200NS engine behavior.

That's because at that point the coolant has expanded due to the heat and occupies more volume. It's simply discarded by the cooling system. That's how it works. Make sure the radiator fan isn't on before turning your bike off. And for your heating problems, check if the coolant level is optimum.
            Replies in bold.
Really?? I have done it many times. Never faced this situation. There is a reservoir for accommodating this additional volume. And after a series of issues with liquid coolant vanishing/leaking now the level is constant..just a little below max level. In fact this heating issue was not there when I first got the issue with cooling system. I remember, after the leakage issue was fixed, in 2 weeks the liquid coolant totally vanished from the reservoir and i ran bike like that without noticing it for sometime, but still I never felt this kind of heating. After that I gave bike for 2nd service and they screwed something up that time. Since then I am having this heating issue.

EDIT: I have changed back to Motul 3000 15W50, 1.2 ltr of it. So far didn't see any difference in heating situation. While going home in the evening in traffic will give a better review. But one thing for sure bike feels heavy/stiff now as compared to it was with Motul 5100...

yes i feel it...there is a heat wave on the left leg but when i stop and look the fan isnt on...infact never saw my fan working...never even heard the fan working
              3. Ever got the warm sensation at the seat, the black side panels and perimeter frame due to riding in traffic? Engine is super hot and fan is running.
              no..never faced that

              no...it cools down soon

4-4.5k kms should be fine for motul 5100

I am currently using motul 3000

this is the only oil i have used apart from the stock bajaj oil which comes from the factory

I must say that the power delivery seems to be lagging a bit in this oil when compared with the bajaj oil

Sure the engine is smoother but with bajaj oil..the NS felt more powerful..meaning the revs built up easily when compared to motul 3000

Some even complain of mileage drop with motul oils

yes it did during first 4 months of ownership. Now am in 7 month of ownership.

                2. Can you feel heat waves on your legs and thighs after riding 8-10 kms?? And still the fan has not started working??
i just used feel at foot, that also when was in chapal

                3. Ever got the warm sensation at the seat, the black side panels and perimeter frame due to riding in traffic? Engine is super hot and fan is running.
nope not yet, ya in perimeter frame

                4. Does the engine remains hot (untouchable by hand and can feel heat just by standing near the bike) after like an hour of parking the bike in the evening after a ride of about 15-16km in normal traffic??
                didnt notice this

                5. Does your bike's chain makes "trrrrrrrrrrr" noise (like the one which we typically get from bicycle ball bearings) at the front sprocket??
ya, it's making that sound nowadays, and its not removable for me, done several attempts and svcs and outside svc

                6. How long should Motul 5100 be used?? its now almost 3300km old now (It was 1 litr 5100 + 200ml 3000mineral oil actually of same grade 15W50)
my combo of motul 5100 and 200 ml of motul 7100 lasted 2500 km, after that i got harder gearshifts (i used to have super smooth)..these hard gear shift made me make up mind to change oil, now fine

I have started feeling that either the engine oil is screwing up or there is some serious problem with cooling system. I had a coolant leakage issue 2-3 months ago, past which i had incidents of vanishing coolant 2-3 times. I don't remember to have so much heated engine prior to that. Ask them to check ur sensor and cooling system, and also radiator fan is working or not.
During initial ownership period, my bike refused to start at odo of 1600km and radiator fan was on all the time and this had happened after 3 hours of parking in cold night, and it also used to give little out of petrol like feeling, then ecu was opened and reconnected then out of petrol feeling was gone...But after that never once i got chance to see fan running and after riding few 10-15 km bike used to feel rough, which i complained in 2nd svc, they changed my ecu in warranty and also my thermal sensor of radiator, now bike works flawlessly.. it does get heated, but i don't feel it, unless i go and touch it.

I don't know if it is of any help to u, thought of letting u know..

Another thing i didnt find difference in motul 3100, and motul 5100. Motul 5100 was smoother than bajaj oil but lasted only 2500kms...But bajaj oil makes me feel engine reving faster. Next in duke it is recommended to use bajaj oil or motul 7100, so they might have tested...So from next service my oil is motul 7100 and there after 7100 or bajaj oil....And it is better i fell if we use 7100 from starting i think...I don't know if it really needed to use mineral in running period as even my Chevrolet car gets synthetic oil from company from odo 0 km!!!

Behind the radiator and it should start turning with about 3-4min in heavy traffic or just revving the heck out of it while parked. Do whichever sounds gentler to you.

Carb overflow petrol mostly probably, if it's coolant you will be able to notice form its's green color. The Service personals must be able to come and get the bike, try calling them, but try giving it a start a few times , and still if the bike is not in rideable condition, tow it to the svc.
