Ok,small edit. Indicator switch sucks even more with gloves on. Clutch lever is located light years away from finger tips. Throttle response definitely seems to be lagging between twisting the wrist and power delivery. Just a tiny bit though

Okay,I should thank everyone who has posted in this thread since the past year and a half. I have been stalking this thread since two months now and I got my NS delivered yesterday. Surprisingly,in Bhubaneswar, the showroom guys had to order it by transport from a smaller city like Angul. More surprising is the fact that they had poured in Motul 300v before I reached there expecting the regular DTSi oil. Was assured that I could get my bike serviced at the Probiking service center along with the Dukes and Ninjas. Was promised a complimentary center stand and a touch up of the rear panel scratches. 10km on the odo when I took delivery. Went for a 30 km spin in the morning without my gloves(which were languishing under a pile of clothes and so,went unnoticed). Maybe it's endemic to the NS,but throttle response seems to be lagging a bit and the chain was going "whirr". Faint noise, though. Compared to my Pulsar 200 DTSi,the vibes are almost non-existent,but noticeable. Didn't rev beyond 5k rpm. The indicator switch positioning is guaranteed to make one cry out in frustration and ride into a wall. The flash switch is more tolerable though. Noticed that the blue backlight doesn't really gel in well with the orange console. The softer handlebar grips weren't as good in providing feedback as the earlier generation pulsar's grips. Aural stimulation from the exhaust note in the lower rev range is more of an acquired skill. Well, removing the saree guard and the mud guard weren't received very well by my dad though. The tyres haven't given my any problem. Yet. Brakes have nice bite, but not as good a feedback as the 200 DTSi's.

Hi Aditya, me to an amateur DIY enthusiast. Like to work on my bike as much as possible. Recently cleaned up the air filter with a complete wash and cleaning cycle including the chain.Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostStupid bajaj servicemen! All they did a few days back during the service was water wash, oil change and put some old oil on the chain! The nincompoops can easily ruin the bike of anyone who doesn't know his vehicle too much in detail! I had to come back home and begin my own service the next day! The plugs were freaking dirty and the gap >1mm, cleaned and adjusted that. The chain sound, lubed it. AFR setting messed up, took a long time to adjust that! I'm yet to find the time to remove the tank and clean the air filter. That's it. Now that the free services are done, my bike will not see the servicemen's faces again!
So could you guide me to the best way of tuning the AFR for NS? I am getting a mileage of arond 34 kmpl, so am i running on richer side ? What are mileage figures of a perfectly tuned NS ?
How much should the gap between spark plugs be? how do you clean it - sandpaper?
Too much questions ......

For Rim Tapes, my suggestion would be a fluorescent green (reflective if possible) on the black. I saw a black ninja with these rim tapes once and fell in love with them. Go to karol bagh if you want options. I wanted the same on my black NS as well but ended up getting the fluorescent Orange. Red, whites are too common. Fluorescent especially reflective ones is the one you shold be looking for.Originally posted by broken87 View PostI see, didn't know about the paper based air filter. I also plan to maintain my bike & "do it myself"
xBhp & internet helps. thanks!
I'm running on 5100 (got 2 bottles of it) & thankfully my gears feel perfect. However, revving upto 9k or redlining (which I rarely do) doesn't feel all that quick as it did on Bajaj oil. Pehaps Bajaj oil really is better for NS in some ways but still has many downsides.. the drain interval of 10,000kms is like the biggest joke ever.
Yeah, his Pulsar is what I rode first before getting my NS. He helped me learn the basic stuff. Funny part is I couldn't even handle that 6 yr old 150cc bike which surely has lost many of it's horses by now. Still when I rode it for the first time I was like... omg this has so much power.. how do I control it!! Now that I've spent so much time on NS, that great P150 feels rather underwhelming & extremely light to maneuver.
Yesterday got a Motul sticker done by local sticker shop as I couldn't find any Motul decals at Motul dealers. though it's copy of the original lulz. May be could've placed it at a better spot... front forks may be.... but that still looks nice to me. Now the rim tapes to be done, any suggestion on what color rim tapes for the Black NS ? white yellow or red ? 2MP camera FTW!

Please do not user sandpaper to clean the spark plugs.. Yes the SVC does use it but then they also use pressurized air to blow away any sand particles..Originally posted by sunilyo View PostHow much should the gap between spark plugs be? how do you clean it - sandpaper?
When we individually use the sandpaper we simply blow to get rid of the sand residue; but that is not full proof.. If sand residue remains stuck to the spark plug the same particles will get into ur engine and with the pressure and speed that tiny sand particle will cause sratches to the piston and inner walls causing lots of problems (inluding engine getting seized)..

Trust me i used to think the same about those damn indicator switch. Never understood how they messed it up and how the test mules never gave the feedback about it.Originally posted by Aytas_sss View Post

Now whether i am wearing gloves or not i never miss on the indicator as i used to in the early days.

Pulsar 200 means just like P220 & P180 UG4, right? (in terms of frame & front brake)
You feel your old 200 has more 'bite' than new NS???
and one more thing, new NS has less vibe than your old 200 ?
Here, Malappuram-Kerala, KVR Bajaj giving new bikes for test ride. I had also done on a new unregistered one
They will connect speedo cable only at the time of delivery.
Mine was also 11 KMs on odo. But I am not sure its real side
I wish if I am the only rider in roads !!!!!
So I can red line my bike all the time
1992 - 1996 - Hercules Cannon Barrel
1996 - 2002 - Hero Swing
1998 - 2004 - Bajaj Caliber (1,21,000 KMs)
2004 - 2005 - TVS Victor
2005 - 2011 - Honda Unicorn (80,000 KMs)
2011 - 2013 - Honda CB Unicorn (32,000 KMs)
2013 - ???? - Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

but they poured 300v on a new bike with 10km on odo ?

Yes,it was my brother's Pulsar 200DTSi. And,no,the bite of the brake is very sharp. I was talking about the progressive feedback. Maybe it's because I haven't become acquainted with the bike. Yes,the vibes are much, much less than what I have been subjected to before. And I am pretty sure,it wasn't a test ride bike. I had specifically asked for the bike from the latest batch and moreover, the bike was transported from another city's godown. Not much of a chance of test riding outside a godown,is there?Originally posted by spknair View PostWelcome to NS family

Thank you,I've had to draft a contract with my parents stating that in lieu of this bike I shall have to secure an AIR within 100 in my law entrance tests. :P Ah,the sacrifice.Originally posted by broken87 View PostI see, I will perhaps check out karol bagh for rim tapes. flourescent green sounds good tbh. thanks for ur suggestion!

And yeah,I was flabbergasted when I asked about the grade of engine oil used and the technician replied, saying it was Motul 300v.
Apart from that, one detail stood out. The fuel position knob,as compared to that of another NS I had seen on the road, actually had a better build quality. Better plastic used. Maybe Bajaj is finally rolling out upgrades in subsequent batches.Last edited by Aytas_sss; 03-05-2013, 03:14 PM.

Hi all Nsians,
I have seen a lot of concerns with the turning radius of the NS which is the same with me.. Has anyone thought about changing the handle ( to duke handle) coz i saw the show by ghost riders who are the official stunters for bajaj and they use pulsar 200 NS and the duke handle seems to be very easy to handle. I would appreciate and Request the experienced to throw some light on this idea.

I enquired about that too since I was used to riding with a single piece handlebar which was more "streetfighter-ish" than the current crop of clip-ons that bajaj uses. Seems the duke handle is not off-the shelf compatible with the pulsar. The technicians drew a blank when I asked the about it.Originally posted by dareign View PostHi all Nsians,

First changing handle bar wont change the turning radius...
second...the ghost ryderz team is using stock NS clip on handle bars..and not the duke ones...well thats what i see in the pics on their FB page
The duke handle bar is a rod type like in FZ and not a clip on...
your best bet would be invest a fortune in adjustable clip on handle barsPulsar 200NS parts list

It is true that the turning radius of NS is short hence u-turns and parkings (sometimes) are difficult. But you will get used to it and will eventually learn how to use it. I had a near fall during my initial days, but now know when to turn.Originally posted by dareign View PostHi all Nsians,

Changing the handle bar will not serve the purpose
a. because it will have to be a specific height for the handles to not touch the tank
b. even if you are able to change the handle bar to that of the duke you will still be turning the same radius because a stopper is in place by default.
